Jon Rake Jon completed professional acting training in 1995 at 50. His teachers included George Hall, Bardy Thomas and Penny Dyer. Before that work included teaching and touring plays in Northern Ghana, teaching English at Latymer Upper School, Hammersmith and work at Hoxton Hall in Shoreditch where his best role was as Toad in an original adaptation of The Wind in the Willows. He has worked for The Royal Shakespeare Company as Timothy Matlack in Richard Nelson's new play The General from America directed by Howard Davies. In the same season he also played The First Murderer in Macbeth and The English Ambassador in The White Devil. At The National Theatre he acted in Anthony Page's production of The Forest. Jon toured nationally with Livespace Theatre's production of Dorfman's Death and The Maiden playing Dr Miranda and with the number one tour of Make Way for Lucia. London Fringe work includes shows at The Gate, The New End Theatre , The Finborough Arms and Chat's Palace. Television work includes Sergeant Sid in London's Burning, Eastenders, My Hero, Midsomer Murders (3), Foyle's War, The Brief, McCallum, Bramwell and as a somewhat reactionary newspaper vendor in Goodness Gracious Me. Film work is the experimental piece Karmic Trader and Eskimo Day by Jack Rosenthal. Jon is a strong and intelligent actor.
