This short documentary about Asperger's Syndrome shown on TV in 2005 is about me, I have mild Asperger's Syndrome. I was diagnosed in 2002.
I knew I was different from the age of about 6 years old, hypotheses included - the reincarnation of King David or Pliny the Elder, a left behind Space Alien and finally mild autism (after seeing a TV documentary). Other pupils were loud and ran around randomly, while I preferred a mature intellectual life. I became interested in astronomy/science ~3 years old, so I'm told, it was my interests that made me stand out in school.
Later on in primary school, I became fascinated by mineralogy too. I found it difficult not to talk about my hobbies, one time I stopped taking for a week or two after the summer holidays, because I knew if I talked ... the bullies would again realise I was different and the bullying would start again. I was bullied badly, sometimes beaten up, for years. Bullying mostly stopped in secondary school as I found a group to hang around with.
In 1987, at 14, I went to an astronomy lecture, but due to the excitement of it all I had a panic attack and I had to leave (a panic attack over astronomy?). This began over a decade of anxiety & panic attacks and increased reclusiveness, which I completely overcame in 1998. Perhaps due to my bad experience with Astronomy, I turned to Mineral collecting.
One of isolating aspects of Asperger's is, we tend to talk at people not with people. However, in 1998, I did a 6 week geological mapping project with a friend, and I every hour or so we would sit and chat. After 4 weeks our conversations became two way. While I noticed this improvement, it also led to my growing sense oddness. This processes I am told, is called gaining insight, some young adults with Asperger's try to transition from the basic social skills of childhood to the more sophisticated social skills of adult life, but fail.
My diagnosis in 2002 was a great relief, I felt better about myself and understood myself more, I didn't feel the need to be normal so badly (that ever that is). I set up a social group in 2002, made many good friends and found a girlfriend though the group. I find people with Asperger's (I have met aver 100) are all extremely kind and interesting people. My social skills have improved allot. I graduated with a PhD in geology in 2008.

Three young adults with Asperger's Syndrome (a mild form of autism) share their stories to show life from their perspective. They discuss their everyday experiences and difficulties they face, and their hopes for the future. The film was produced by Alyssa Huber, a film student who also has Asperger’s.
The production of this film took about two years, though it began as a idea for a school project. The goal of the project was simple: to tell a story. So I interviewed my friend Katie, and learned so much about her journey with Asperger's. I told her story in a short trailer-style film. It expanded beyond what I planned initially, since I decided to produce it as a full-length film. I told not only Katie's story, but my own (Alyssa's), and the stories of many others on the autism spectrum. I interviewed about seven other young adults on the spectrum who were friends and acquaintances of mine, and I also interviewed three experts in the area of psychology. I loved this project so much, but the tough part was that I was still in college. I cannot work or do any extracurricular activities while I'm in school due to my Asperger's, and yet I chose to produce an entire film on my own on top of my normal workload. That'd be tough for a normal person! I worked very hard through the murky waters of anxiety, depression, and perfectionism (that comes with my AS) to complete it, but I'm glad I did.
I wanted to help others understand Asperger's, but this project helped me, too. I learned a lot from it, and it gave me a reason to stay motivated in spite of my difficulties. Life is tough when you feel different and isolated, but filmmaking gives me a way to stay connected with the world. Plus, I love every aspect of making films, so I had fun with it!

I was diagnosed with ASD (Asperger’s Syndrome) when I was 26 years old, after experiencing life with Autism that was unknown to me for 26 years.
Now I enjoy all things in life with my dog Randell and my girlfriend Naomi, we try and help and educate anyone and everyone on Autism and Asperger’s Syndrome however and wherever we can.

Rapper 50 Cent has issued an apology Tuesday to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport worker he made fun of in an expletive-filled video.
Curtis James Jackson III – a.k.a. 50 Cent – shared a now-deleted video on Sunday showing him accusing a CVG janitor of being high on drugs. The airport worker was later identified as Andrew Ferrell, who has Asperger's Syndrome, a hearing deficiency and social anxiety, according to his parents.

Although it is never stated in the show, the main character shows all the signs, especially when he explains how he feels in a very recent episode (at the beginning of this video clip). His character is extremely interesting and without him the show would surely fail. Asperger's syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests. Asperger syndrome (AS), also known as Asperger's syndrome or Asperger disorder, is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction, alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests. Although not required for diagnosis, physical clumsiness and atypical use of language are frequently reported.
The syndrome is named after the Austrian pediatrician Hans Asperger who, in 1944, studied and described children in his practice who lacked nonverbal communication skills, demonstrated limited empathy with their peers, and were physically clumsy. The modern conception of Asperger syndrome came into existence in 1981 and went through a period of popularization, becoming standardized as a diagnosis in the early 1990s. Many questions remain about aspects of the disorder. For example, there is doubt about whether it is distinct from high-functioning autism (HFA); partly because of this, its prevalence is not firmly established. It has been proposed that the diagnosis of Asperger's be eliminated, to be replaced by a diagnosis of autism spectrum disorder on a severity scale.

Curtis James Jackson III (born July 6, 1975), better known by his stage name 50 Cent, is an American rapper, entrepreneur, investor, record producer, and actor. He rose to fame with the release of his albums Get Rich or Die Tryin' (2003) and The Massacre (2005). His album Get Rich or Die Tryin' has been certified eight times platinum by the RIAA.
Born in the South Jamaica of Queens, New York City, Jackson began drug dealing at the age of twelve during the 1980s crack epidemic. After leaving drug dealing to pursue a rap career, he was shot at and struck by nine bullets during an incident in 2000. After releasing his album Guess Who's Back? in 2002, Jackson was discovered by rapper Eminem and signed to Interscope Records. With the help of Eminem and Dr. Dre, who produced his first major commercial successes, Jackson became one of the world's highest selling rappers. In 2003, he founded the record label G-Unit Records, which signed several successful rappers such as Young Buck, Lloyd Banks, and Tony Yayo.

Although it is never stated in the show, the main character shows all the signs, especially when he explains how he feels in a very recent episode (at the beginning of this video clip). His character is extremely interesting and without him the show would surely fail. Asperger's syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests. It differs from other autism spectrum disorders by its relative preservation of linguistic and cognitive development.

This short documentary about Asperger's Syndrome shown on TV in 2005 is about me, I have mild Asperger's Syndrome. I was diagnosed in 2002. I knew I was different from the age of about 6 years old, hypotheses included - the reincarnation of King David or Pliny the Elder, a left behind Space Alien and finally mild autism (after seeing a TV documentary). Other pupils were loud and ran around randomly, while I preferred a mature intellectual life. I became interested in astronomy/science ~3 years old, so I'm told, it was my interests that made me stand out in school. Later on in primary school, I became fascinated by mineralogy too. Rapper 50 Cent has issued an apology Tuesday to the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport worker he made fun of in an expletive-filled video. Curtis James Jackson III – a.k.a. 50 Cent – shared a now-deleted video on Sunday showing him accusing a CVG janitor of being high on drugs. This short documentary about Asperger's Syndrome shown on TV in 2005 is about me, I have mild Asperger's Syndrome. I was diagnosed in 2002.
I knew I was different from the age of about 6 years old, hypotheses included - the reincarnation of King David or Pliny the Elder, a left behind Space Alien and finally mild autism (after seeing a TV documentary). Other pupils were loud and ran around randomly, while I preferred a mature intellectual life. I became interested in astronomy/science ~3 years old, so I'm told, it was my interests that made me stand out in school.
Later on in primary school, I became fascinated by mineralogy too. I found it difficult not to talk about my hobbies, one time I stopped taking for a week or two after the summer holidays, because I knew if I talked ... the bullies would again realise I was different and the bullying would start again. I was bullied badly, sometimes beaten up, for years. Bullying mostly stopped in secondary school as I found a group to hang around with.
In 1987, at 14, I went to an astronomy lecture, but due to the excitement of it all I had a panic attack and I had to leave (a panic attack over astronomy?). This began over a decade of anxiety & panic attacks and increased reclusiveness, which I completely overcame in 1998. Perhaps due to my bad experience with Astronomy, I turned to Mineral collecting.
One of isolating aspects of Asperger's is, we tend to talk at people not with people. However, in 1998, I did a 6 week geological mapping project with a friend, and I every hour or so we would sit and chat. After 4 weeks our conversations became two way. While I noticed this improvement, it also led to my growing sense oddness. This processes I am told, is called gaining insight, some young adults with Asperger's try to transition from the basic social skills of childhood to the more sophisticated social skills of adult life, but fail.
My diagnosis in 2002 was a great relief, I felt better about myself and understood myself more, I didn't feel the need to be normal so badly (that ever that is). I set up a social group in 2002, made many good friends and found a girlfriend though the group. I find people with Asperger's (I have met aver 100) are all extremely kind and interesting people. My social skills have improved allot. I graduated with a PhD in geology in 2008.

I told not only Katie's story, but my own (Alyssa's), and the stories of many others on the autism spectrum. I interviewed about seven other young adults on the spectrum who were friends and acquaintances of mine, and I also interviewed three experts in the area of psychology. I loved this project so much, but the tough part was that I was still in college. I cannot work or do any extracurricular activities while I'm in school due to my Asperger's, and yet I chose to produce an entire film on my own on top of my normal workload. That'd be tough for a normal person! I worked very hard through the murky waters of anxiety, depression, and perfectionism (that comes with my AS) to complete it, but I'm glad I did.
I wanted to help others understand Asperger's, but this project helped me, too. I learned a lot from it, and it gave me a reason to stay motivated in spite of my difficulties. Life is tough when you feel different and isolated, but filmmaking gives me a way to stay connected with the world. Plus, I love every aspect of making films, so I had fun with it!

I cannot work or do any extracurricular activities while I'm in school due to my Asperger's, and yet I chose to produce an entire film on my own on top of my normal workload. That'd be tough for a normal person! I worked very hard through the murky waters of anxiety, depression, and perfectionism (that comes with my AS) to complete it, but I'm glad I did.
I wanted to help others understand Asperger's, but this project helped me, too. I learned a lot from it, and it gave me a reason to stay motivated in spite of my difficulties. Life is tough when you feel different and isolated, but filmmaking gives me a way to stay connected with the world. Plus, I love every aspect of making films, so I had fun with it!

Asperger's syndrome is an autism spectrum disorder (ASD) that is characterized by significant difficulties in social interaction and nonverbal communication, alongside restricted and repetitive patterns of behavior and interests. It differs from other autism spectrum disorders by its relative preservation of linguistic and cognitive development.

All these traits, plus my current behavior (intimacy avoidance, social withdrawal, lack of empathy, lack of eye contact, repetitive motor movements) were enough for my neurologist to diagnose me with Aspergers Syndrome ... I was diagnosed with Adjustment Disorder before being diagnosed with Aspergers ... What are these thoughts exactly? Are they common in other cases of Aspergers?....
