I should have put a 20 MOA scope on the rifle; I needed 151 clicks of elevation to get there, but only had 82. I found the milk sat best in the scope, just at the bottom bar; no scope left. I had the windage adjusted about 3 MOA left. I doped the range first, then setup the cameras. Having been my first long range shot, (other than the occasional "hail mary" for that gopher way the hell out there with the .17 HMR or .223) I'm now addicted. The rifle is a Remington 700 action with 26 inch heavy barrel. Haven't done any trigger work, I like the way it is. I did have the muzzle break put on by a gunsmith, and I put the rest together. I'd do it all over again, what a blast! I am not an experienced long range shooter, this was my first attempt at a target over 100 yards; but damn what fun. I'll be learning a lot as I go. I used Hornady 150gr SST bullets, Vihtavouri N-140 powder and CCI large rifle primers. Armor project update, Armor VS .308 and 30.06 I know, I know... Homemade armor really? Well yes sir, why not. I love to tinker and work on many different types of DIY projects and I like guns. So, I said why not mix the two and see what happens... .308 got away...WTF 30.06 normal load, stopped!!! but wait until a hot round!!! 7.62x39 Not getting away!! Stopped in it's tracks... Sweet... Pretty good testing, the 62 grain .223 Armor Piercer is the only one that go away!!! Ok, so soaking the phone book in wall paper paste and baking didn't work as well as I wanted it to. We are going to liquify the wall paper paste more, in hopes the phone book absorbs it better. Look for video 3 coming soon... Didn't work like I wanted to, so we went ahead and started to build the project without soaking the books. But we will revist this theroy at a later time and maybe try something new. Theory, this theory is based off of the homemade phone book armor, but stepping it up and adding baffling and metal plates. The idea behind the baffling is to destabilize and change the trajectory of the round. After destabilization the phone book acts as a catch, to include a final steel plate. This is an experiment, and do not try this at home. We are not responsible or liable for any one person that tries to re-create this homemade armor. First plate is 3.175 millimeters heated to 500 degree's flashed with water to harden, second is 3.175 m angle iron heated to 500 degree's flashed with water, then phone book at 2.8 centimeters thick, last plate at 3.175 m heated to 500 degree's.
