16 hours ago | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »
Matthew McConaughey’s “Free State of Jones” has been pushed back a month.
Stx Entertainment announced that the Civil War epic is moving from a May 13 release date to June 24. Gary Ross helms the story of Southern farmer Newt Knight, who leads a rebellion against the Confederacy. He flees the battlefields after being disillusioned by the horrors that have touched his own family. On the run, he rallies the support of fellow deserters to lead an uprising against their former comrades, in the process creating a free safe haven. Gugu Mbatha-Raw and Keri Russell also star.
“We’re all out there dying so they can stay rich,” McConaughey intones as Knight in the film’s trailer.
The film will now be going up against “Independence Day: Resurgence” and Blake Lively thriller “The Shallows” at the box office.
This isn’t the first time “Free State of Jones” has been delayed. »

34 minutes ago | The Guardian - Film News | See recent The Guardian - Film News news »
In Charlie Kaufman’s acclaimed new puppet animation, David Thewlis plays a depressed motivational guru who suffers a breakdown. He talks about love, death and the importance of being honest
When David Thewlis records a voiceover – chirpy earthworm, drumming aardvark, ads for Sainsbury’s – he generally gets the same feedback. “They say: ‘You sound quite angry, David’ or ‘You sound quite cynical. Can you do it with more of a smile in your voice?’” He grins. Now he can tell when others use the same tactic. “Estate agents, particularly.”
No such notes were necessary for Anomalisa, in which he voices a customer service guru called Michael Stone, spending the night in Cincinnati ahead of a telesales lecture: “Don’t forget to smile. Makes a person’s day. What does it cost you? Smile’s free!”

Eighteen months ago, Eugenio Derbez walked away from his life in Mexico City and his career as one of his country’s most famous and successful comedy actors.
“My wife and I were crying as we closed up our house and headed to the airport with all our luggage,” he recalls. “And on the plane we kept thinking, ‘Have we made a terrible mistake? Are we doing the right thing?’ Because we just left everything behind, to come to the U.S. and pursue my dream of making it here.”
But on arrival at Lax, Derbez was immediately hit with a “huge sign” that their leap of faith was about to pay off. “We were deluged with all these calls that I was getting a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame,” he says. “And I remembered the first time I ever came to Hollywood as a kid and saw »

One of Eugenio Derbez’s “big goals” in relocating to Los Angeles was to expand his business model and creative interests, especially in the North American market, and so far it’s been a very busy first year for 3Pas Studios, his fledgling Santa Monica-based film and TV shingle co-owned by Ben Odell.
“We formed 3Pas Studios off the success of ‘Instructions Not Included,’ ” says Odell, former president of Pantelion, which is a joint venture between Lionsgate and Televisa. “It’s not only a platform for Eugenio’s acting and directing, but also for creating original content for the U.S. Latino and Latin American markets and beyond.”
The company inked a first-look deal with Lionsgate/Pantelion in August 2014, after the studio released Derbez’s breakout hit “Instructions Not Included,” which earned $99 million worldwide.
“He’s the perfect blend of passionate actor, filmmaker and comedian,” says Pantelion CEO Paul Presburger. »

“You know you’re one bad day away from being me.” It’s a relationship that’s maybe not unlike the Joker and Batman. “Daredevil” season two is only one week away and buried in a new IGN interview with stars Charlie Cox (Daredevil) and Jon Bernthal (The Punisher), the first clip from the follow-up season has been revealed. And while it’s brief, it does set up their schism that’s not unlike the two aforementioned rivals; an antagonist (the Punisher) who believes the hero is essentially on the same side of the vigilante coin, but doesn’t have the guts to take it all the way and admit who he really is. “I think you’re a half measure,” The Punisher says tauntingly. “I think you’re a man who can’t finish the job. I think you’re a coward.” Read More: Watch: Street Justice Takes A »

‘Captain America: Civil War’ New Trailer Reveals Spider-Man
1 hour ago | Variety - Film News | See recent Variety - Film News news »
The new Spider-Man finally makes his debut in the latest trailer for “Captain America: Civil War.”
Iron Man calls on Spidey (or “Underoos,” as he hilariously refers to him), who’s evidently on his team, to use his web powers to steal Captain America’s shield and bind his arms.
“Hey, everyone,” Tom Holland’s character then says, perched on a car roof, in the final moments of the second trailer.
The “Avengers”-sized film, which hits theaters on May 6, centers on the epic clash between Cap (Chris Evans) and Iron Man (Robert Downey Jr.) that threatens to tear the Marvel Cinematic Universe apart.
The government sets up an organization to oversee the Avengers, splintering the team into two camps — one led by Steve Rogers (Captain America), who’s opposed to government interference, and the other by Tony Stark (Iron Man), who supports government oversight after being brainwashed.

New York welcomes its first 4Dx cinema – one of just two in the country – where the film is enhanced by shaking seats, wind, and even scents

On 25 March, the Regal Cinemas at Union Square will open the first 4Dx theater on the East Coast, one of only two in the Us. Having experienced the supremely »
