Melanie Jane Johnson (born 5 February 1955, in Ipswich) is a Labour politician in the United Kingdom.

Early life

Johnson attended the Independent Clifton High School in Clifton, Bristol. Leaving Bristol for London, Johnson studied at University College London, gaining a BA in Philosophy and Ancient Greek (1976). Following this she moved to Cambridge, continuing to study Philosophy at postgraduate level King's College, Cambridge. From the age of 19 onwards she was an active member of the Labour Party and for over a decade was a County Councillor. From 1981-88, she was Member Relations Officer for Cambridge Co-op, then Retail Administration Manager from 1988-90. She was Assistant General Manager in Quality Assurance for Cambridge Family Health Service Authority from 1990-92. Johnson was a schools inspector for Ofsted from 1993-97.

Parliamentary career

In 1994 Johnson unsuccessfully stood for Labour in the Cambridgeshire seat of the European Parliamentary election. Two years later she was selected to stand for Labour in the United Kingdom Parliament through an all-women shortlist. This method of selection was subsequently declared illegal in January 1996 as it breached sex discrimination laws. Despite the ruling she remained in place as the candidate for the following year's election.

She was first elected in the 1997 election overturning a majority of 6,583. Johnson won her seat, Welwyn Hatfield, a traditional Conservative strong hold, following a statement made by her opponent, David Evans, which made national newspaper headlines. Evans was taped by sixth-form students (at Stanborough School, Welwyn Garden City) denouncing Johnson as "a single girl, lives with her boyfriend, three bastard children" and saying she had "never done a proper job". At this time Johnson was working as a school inspector and living with her partner of 18 years, raising their young family. In this taped statement Evans claimed Johnson didn't "have a chance in hell". Evans also criticised her for living in Cambridge rather than actually in his then constituency.

In her maiden speech Johnson commented that Evans was" widely renowned for his plain speaking" but could be "personally very charming. I saw that for myself on election night when he congratulated me on my victory in Welwyn Hatfield and recorded how much he had enjoyed being a Member of Parliament". She further commented "I am a firm believer in diversity and my own style will be a little different from his. As a mother of three, I can assure the House that my children will help to keep my feet on the ground."

Johnson was re-elected in the 2001 elections with a reduced majority. Welwyn Hatfield had never previously been held for more than one term by a Labour MP.

From 1999 to 2005 Johnson was a junior minister serving first as Economic Secretary to the Treasury, next in the DTI as Minister for Competition and Consumers, and finally as Minister for Public Health in the Department of Health. Johnson was also responsible for the White Paper Building Trust in Statistics As Economic Secretary she supported the EU action against money laundering stating "Money laundering is a very serious offence, with the capacity to undermine financial markets and to corrupt professional advisers" Following the 2000 Budget Johnson, whilst speaking to NPI Conference, commented "in the Budget three weeks ago now, this Government took the next steps towards our ambition for a Britain of opportunity and security not just for a few but for all, with prosperity reaching the people and places the economy has too long forgotten.". Journalist Benedict Brogan likened the delivery of her speeches to "the read-your-weight manner of a supermarket Tannoy" describing them as tedious and accusing her of just repeating "the mantra that had been programmed into her".

During Johnson's time in DTI she gained media coverage for her concerns regarding "US regulators (having) the power to monitor, investigate and discipline UK auditors". Johnson was also responsible for Government's Enterprise Bill, commenting that 'We will provide a robust regime for dealing with those who abuse their creditors.'

After being diagnosed with breast cancer in 2001 Johnson became more vocal on the issue, stating "Breast cancer can happen to any woman, regardless of who she is. I am acutely aware it is something many women still do not believe will happen to them." Cancer was later to become one of Johnson's responsibilities as Public Health Minister.

As Public Health Minister, her responsibilities included policy on smoking, obesity, drugs, alcohol, diet and nutrition, communicable diseases, sexual health, sustainable development and health inequalities. One of her key roles was to improve cervical smear testing, which she achieved in a move to get new better smear tests. With the new test Johnson introduced, there are less false positives, meaning fewer women are now required to return for a second smear due to an error with their first test. Johnson additionally announced plans in 2004 to cut domestic violence during pregnancy with the integration of routine enquiries into antenatal appointments.

Johnson campaigned to cut salt levels, setting targets to significantly reduce salt in foods in order to improve cardiovascular health. She gained credit from "salt victims" who had suffered strokes supporting her work to make large companies reduce salt. Johnson's campaign was echoed by Food watchdogs, whilst she pushed for large food companies to make specific action plans in order to reduce salt.

In October 2003, Johnson had was the subject of criticism when she was quoted as saying that fluoridation of water should be "the preferred method of preventing tooth decay on a population basis". Simon Thomas accused her of suggesting people should thrown away their toothbrushes, Thomas stated the proposals were "crazy" and "full of contradictions". Others such as Martyn Shrewsbury accused her of failing to consider the health risk of fluoride as well as the ethics of medicating people against their will. Johnson later clarified her comments stating "we are not saying that people should stop brushing their teeth".

Johnson was defeated in the 2005 general election by Grant Shapps on a 9.2% swing to the Conservatives.

Post parliamentary work

In 2006 Johnson took the position of Deputy Chair on the Customer Impact Panel, an Association of British Insurers organisation dedicated to improving the customers' experience of the insurance industry.

In 2009 Johnson was named Chair of the UK Cards Association, a payments industry body, in which capacity she has attempted to have scientific research on credit card security withdrawn from public availability.

She featured on the Labour's shortlist for the 2007 Sedgefield by-election but failed to be selected as candidate. She also made the all-female longlist for the Walthamstow seat in 2008 but was less successful and did not make the shortlist. In 2009 she made a third attempt at becoming a Labour parliamentary candidate by featuring on a controversial all-woman shortlist for the Erith and Thamesmead constituency. The contest was taken over by the central Labour party as the local party was considered incapable of handling the process fairly, leading to complaints that non local candidates were being favored. Further controversy came when it was revealed one of the ballot boxes had been tampered with at Labour's head office.

Personal life

She lives in Cambridge with her partner. They have twin daughters, and a son.

In 2001 Johnson was diagnosed with breast cancer. Despite treatment for breast cancer, it was reported that Johnson was "expected to spend about 10 days recovering at home in her Welwyn and Hatfield constituency after the operation before returning to work before Christmas, the DTI said." She later commented that she had been "very fortunate to make a full recovery" from breast cancer.

Donnie Wayne "Don" Johnson (born December 15, 1949) is an American actor known for his work in television and film. He played the lead role of James "Sonny" Crockett in the 1980s TV cop series, ''Miami Vice'', which led him to huge success. He also played the lead role in the 1990s cop series, ''Nash Bridges''. More recently, Johnson played Kenny Powers' father on the HBO series, ''Eastbound and Down''. Johnson is a Golden Globe winning actor for his role in ''Miami Vice'', a winner of the APBA Offshore World Cup, and has received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame. He is also a singer, songwriter, producer, and director. The Donzie speedboat is not named after him as previously noted; it was named after the boat's designer Don Aronow. It was thought to be named after him due to his time on the TV show, ''Miami Vice''.

The ''Don Johnson'' is also a ''Miami Vice'' themed drink made from vodka, gin, curaçao, and orange juice.

Early life and education

Johnson was born in Flat Creek, Missouri. His father, Wayne, was a farmer, and his mother, Nell, was a beautician; they were 19 and 17 at the time of his birth, respectively. Both his parents are of English origin. At age six, he moved from Missouri to Wichita, Kansas. A 1967 graduate of South High School, he was involved in the high school's theatre program. As a senior, he played the lead role of Tony in ''West Side Story''. His biography noted that he had previously appeared in "Burnt Cork and Melody" and "The Hullabaloo." He also attended the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas.

In the late 1960s, Johnson was in a psychedelic rock band called Horses. Also in the band were future members of the band Kingfish, which featured Grateful Dead guitarist Bob Weir. The band put out one self-titled record on the White Whale label in 1969, later re-issued on the Gear Fab label in 2004 and then on the Rev-Ola label in 2005. Johnson, as several noteworthy news sources have mentioned over the years, was relieved of his military obligation due to a high lottery number. In a 1970 newspaper article, Johnson stated that, due to his beliefs at that time, he would have become a draft resistor.

Acting

Early years

Johnson studied drama at the American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. His first major role was in the 1969 Los Angeles stage production of ''Fortune and Men's Eyes'' in which he played Smitty, the lead role. This exposure led to the quickly forgotten film ''The Magic Garden of Stanley Sweetheart'' (1970). He continued to work on stage, film and television without breaking out into stardom. His notable films from this period were ''Zachariah'' (1971), ''The Harrad Experiment'' (1973), ''Lollipop and Roses'' (1974), and ''A Boy and His Dog'' (1975)

''Miami Vice''

From 1984-1989, after years of struggling to establish himself as a TV actor (in such fare as ''Revenge of the Stepford Wives'') and a string of failed pilots which were never followed by an actual TV series, Johnson's fortunes changed when he landed a starring role as undercover police detective Sonny Crockett in the cop series, ''Miami Vice''. He typically wore thousand dollar Versace and Hugo Boss suits over pastel cotton t-shirts, drove a Ferrari 365 GTS/4 Daytona (really a replica kit on a 1981 Corvette chassis), followed by a Ferrari Testarossa and lived on a yacht with his pet alligator "Elvis". ''Miami Vice'' was noted for its revolutionary use of music, cinematography, and imagery as well as a more glitzy take on the police drama genre.

In between seasons, Don Johnson gained further renown through several TV miniseries, such as the 1985 TV remake of ''The Long, Hot Summer''.

''Nash Bridges''

Johnson later starred in the 1996-2001 drama ''Nash Bridges'' with Cheech Marin, Jeff Perry, Jaime P. Gomez and Jodi Lyn O'Keefe. Johnson played the title role of Nash Bridges, an inspector for the San Francisco Police Department. In ''Nash Bridges'' Johnson was again paired with a flashy convertible car, this time an electric yellow 1971 Plymouth Barracuda.

2000s

In the fall of 2005, he briefly starred in The WB courtroom television drama show ''Just Legal'' as a jaded lawyer with a very young and idealistic protégé/partner (Jay Baruchel); the show was canceled in October 2005 after just three episodes aired. In January 2007, Johnson began a run in the London West End production of ''Guys and Dolls'' as Nathan Detroit.

Don Johnson also has a role in the Norwegian comedy ''Lange Flate Ballær 2'' ("Long Flat Balls II"), directed by Johnson's friend Harald Zwart. Johnson did the movie as a favour to Zwart. The movie was launched March 14, 2008 in Norway, with Johnson making an appearance at the premiere. He next appeared in ''When in Rome'' with Danny DeVito, Anjelica Huston and Kristen Bell, and ''Machete'' with Robert De Niro and Steven Seagal.

2010s

Johnson & Jon Heder co-hosted WWE's Monday Night RAW on January 18, 2010.

Johnson had a small role in Robert Rodriguez's film, ''Machete''. Johnson played Von Jackson, "a twisted border vigilante leading a small army." The film was released on September 3, 2010.

In October 2010, he began appearing on the HBO series ''Eastbound & Down'', playing Kenny Powers' long-lost father, going by the alias "Eduardo Sanchez". He also reprised his role as Sonny Crockett for a Nike commercial with LeBron James where the NBA player contemplates acting and appears alongside Johnson on ''Miami Vice''.

In September 2011, Johnson has a cameo in the comedy ''A Good Old Fashioned Orgy'' with Jason Sudeikis.

Music

Johnson released two albums of pop music in the 1980s, one in 1986 and the other in 1989. His single "Heartbeat", the title track from his first album, and was a collaboration with 80s one hit wonder - Robert Tepper, reached #5 on the Billboard Hot 100 singles chart. Johnson is also a good friend of Willie Nelson and Robert Tepper, and was briefly a part of the "Thailand Pack", alongside Tommy Morrison, and British TV funny man Les Dennis. Previously, Johnson worked with Gregg Allman and Dickie Betts of the Allman Brothers, co-writing the songs "Blind Love" and "Can't Take It with You" with Dickie Betts, which appeared on their 1979 album, ''Enlightened Rogues''.

Personal life

Relationships and family

Johnson has had four wives in five marriages, three of which were brief. His first two marriages, in the late 1960s, were annulled. Johnson had a major supporting role in ''The Harrad Experiment'' (released 1973), whose female lead was Tippi Hedren. He met Hedren's daughter, Melanie Griffith around the first half of 1972; she was an uncredited extra. He was aged 22 and dating and living with groupie Pamela Des Barres and Melanie was 14 when they began what became a four-year affair, that included marrying, in 1976, for less than a year. Melanie and Don reconciled and conceived a child close to the start of 1989, announced wedding plans in mid-February, and were married a second time, from that year until 1996. They had a daughter, Dakota Mayi Johnson (born October 4, 1989).

He lived with Patti D'Arbanville from 1981 to 1985. The couple had a son, Jesse Wayne Johnson (born on December 7, 1982).

He had a relationship with Barbra Streisand, lasting into at least September 1988. Streisand and Johnson were supposedly secretly engaged at one point. He created a single with her called "Till I Loved You", released that year. Johnson had a relationship with Jeanne Anderson in 1996.

On April 29, 1999, he married San Francisco socialite and former preschool teacher Kelley Phleger. He and Phleger had a daughter, Atherton Grace Johnson (born on December 28, 1999), and two sons, Jasper Breckinridge Johnson (born on June 6, 2002) and Deacon Johnson (born on April 29, 2006)

It has also been revealed on ''The Real Housewives of New Jersey'' reunion show that he and housewife Danielle Staub engaged in a brief affair.

Legal problems

In 2001, a 36-year-old woman accused an intoxicated Johnson of squeezing and bruising her wrist and lewdly propositioning her outside a restroom at San Francisco restaurant Mas Sake, and claimed while still firmly squeezing her wrist he began drunkenly singing "Heartbeat". The woman's friends made their way across the restaurant to confront Johnson as he continued to sing but said when he saw them he let go of her and quickly fled out the back door. Johnson said he was considering buying an advertisement in the ''San Francisco Chronicle'' to state his side of the story, but later decided to post the notices on his website. Due to insufficient evidence, no charges were filed.

In November 2002, German customs officers at the Swiss-German border performed a routine search of Johnson's car. Bank statements evidencing US$8 billion in transactions were found in the trunk of his car. He was accompanied in his black Mercedes-Benz by three men: an investment adviser, a personal assistant, and a third of unknown identity. Initially it was thought Johnson was involved in money-laundering, but he was cleared of wrongdoing. Upon receiving word of the incident, German tabloids began exploiting and perpetuating the story, at times pointing at the irony (as perceived by them) that Don Johnson has frequently portrayed police officers in his acting works. Johnson explained the incident by saying "I was meeting with some American businessmen in Zürich for financing, for a film fund that I was putting together for my company. They gave me some bank statements and some resumes and some other documents, some things to prove that they could perform as investors." The police found and copied these documents, and the money laundering story grew somehow out of this.

In May 2008, Johnson came within hours of losing his Woody Creek, Colorado home to foreclosure; he paid off his $14.5 million debts less than 24 hours before a scheduled auction of the property.

In July 2010, a Los Angeles jury awarded Johnson $23.2 million in a lawsuit against production company Rysher Entertainment, from whom Johnson sought a share of profits commensurate with his ownership of half the copyright of ''Nash Bridges''. Rysher announced they would appeal the verdict.

Melanie Griffith (born August 9, 1957) is an American actress. She is an Academy Award nominee and Golden Globe winner for her performance in the 1988 film ''Working Girl''. She is the daughter of actress Tippi Hedren, and the wife of actor Antonio Banderas.

Early life

Griffith was born in New York City, to actress Tippi Hedren and producer, former actor, and advertising executive Peter Griffith. Her parents divorced when she was four years old, after which her father married model/actress Nanita Greene and had two more children, actress Tracy Griffith and set designer Clay A. Griffith. Her mother married agent and producer Noel Marshall, and Griffith grew up with three stepbrothers. During her childhood and adolescent years, she divided her time between living in New York with her father and in Antelope Valley, California, where her mother formed the animal preserve Shambala. She also skipped a grade and graduated from Hollywood Professional School when she was 16 years old.

Career

Griffith began work at just nine months old in a commercial and later became an extra on ''Smith!'' (1969) and ''The Harrad Experiment'' (1973). In 1975, she played her first major roles in ''Smile'', ''The Drowning Pool'', and ''Night Moves'', in which she did racy nude scenes at age 17, and she was typecast in sexy nymphet roles in later movies such as ''One on One''.

Griffith's career gained momentum in 1984 when she played a porn star in the Brian De Palma thriller ''Body Double''. The film won her the National Society of Film Critics Award for Best Supporting Actress, and led to her starring role in Jonathan Demme's ''Something Wild'' (1986), which became a cult favorite. She achieved mainstream success when Mike Nichols cast her as spunky secretary Tess McGill in the hit 1988 film ''Working Girl'', with Harrison Ford, Sigourney Weaver, Alec Baldwin and Joan Cusack. Griffith's performance earned her an Academy Award nomination for Best Actress and won her the Golden Globe Award for Best Actress in a Musical or Comedy.

Griffith's next role was starring in the thriller ''Pacific Heights'' (1990) with Michael Keaton and Matthew Modine. Despite her success, many of Griffith's following films were poorly received, especially ''The Bonfire of the Vanities'' (1990), which also starred Bruce Willis and Tom Hanks and reunited her with ''Body Double'' director Brian de Palma. Other films were ''Paradise'' (1991), ''Born Yesterday'' (1993) (both of which co-starred Griffith's then husband Don Johnson), ''Shining Through'' (1992), ''A Stranger Among Us'' (1992), and ''Now and Then'' (1995) with Demi Moore. Griffith received good reviews for her role as a desperate housewife in the Oscar-nominated film ''Nobody's Fool'' (1994), which reunited her with Bruce Willis and Paul Newman. Griffith met future husband Antonio Banderas on the set of the 1996 comedy ''Two Much''. Griffith received a Golden Globe nomination in the TV miniseries ''Buffalo Girls''.

Griffith appeared in the Woody Allen film ''Celebrity'' in 1998 with Winona Ryder, Leonardo DiCaprio and Charlize Theron. Later that same year, she starred as a ditzy heroin user in ''Another Day in Paradise'' (1998). Some critics wrote that it was the best performance of her career. She formed Greenmoon Productions with Antonio Banderas in 1997, which produced her starring vehicle ''Crazy in Alabama'' (1999), directed by Banderas and featuring Griffith's real-life daughters Dakota Johnson and Stella Banderas playing her daughters. In 1999, Griffith made her stage debut at the Old Vic in London, England, where she acted with Cate Blanchett in the ''Vagina Monologues''. In the HBO film ''RKO 281'' (1999), she played actress Marion Davies. Her portrayal of Davies also earned her an Emmy nomination. Griffith's most recent mainstream film was ''Stuart Little 2'' (2002) in which she voiced the character of Margalo. Since then, she has acted in several independent films.

In 2003, she made her Broadway debut playing Roxie in the musical ''Chicago''. Untrained in song and dance, Griffith still impressed ''New York Times'' theatre critic Ben Brantley, who wrote: "Ms. Griffith is a sensational Roxie, possibly the most convincing I have seen" and "[the] vultures who were expecting to see Ms. Griffith stumble...will have to look elsewhere". Griffith's celebratory reviews made it a box office success.

She starred on the short-lived The WB sitcom ''Twins'' (2005–2006). Her career took a blow when her 2007 series ''Viva Laughlin'', co-starring Hugh Jackman, was canceled after two episodes. Griffith appeared on television in ''Nip/Tuck'' during its sixth and final season in 2010.

Personal life

At age 14, Griffith began dating 22-year old actor Don Johnson who co-starred with her mother in ''The Harrad Experiment'', in which Griffith was an extra. The relationship culminated in a six-month marriage in 1976. Tatum O'Neal has alleged in her 2004 autobiography that around that time, she (then 12) and Griffith (then 18) participated in an opium-filled orgy in a Paris hotel room.

In September 1981, Griffith married Steven Bauer, her co-star in the TV film ''She's in the Army Now''. They have a son, Alexander, born on August 22, 1985. The couple divorced in 1987. Griffith later admitted to having problems with cocaine and liquor after her divorce from Bauer. "What I did was drink myself to sleep at night," she said. "If I wasn't with someone, I was an unhappy girl."

She checked into rehab in 1988. During this time, she reconciled with Johnson, became sober and pregnant. They remarried in June 1989. Their daughter, Dakota Johnson, was born on October 4, 1989. She left him six years later because of his own substance abuse problems, reconciled with him, then left him again for her leading man Antonio Banderas from the film ''Two Much''. They finalized their divorce in February 1996.

Griffith and Banderas have been married since May 14, 1996. Their daughter, Stella del Carmen Banderas Griffith, was born on September 24, 1996. In 2000, Griffith had her husband's first name "Antonio" inside of a heart tattooed on her right shoulder. In 2002, the couple received the Stella Adler Angel Award for their extensive charity work.

Griffith has struggled with drugs and alcohol through much of her life. In 2000, she sought treatment for addiction to painkillers. She returned to rehab in August 2009 for substance abuse problems. She left three months later and underwent surgery for skin cancer in December 2009.

Discussing Griffith’s treatment in rehab, Banderas said in April 2010, “The whole family took part, Stella included. I was there three times a week at a stretch, and we participated in group therapy with our daughter. It strengthened our relationship in many ways. We participated very directly, all of us." Griffith’s son Alexander and daughter Dakota were there, as was her former stepson Jessie and Griffith's mother, Tippi Hedren.

Dakota Mayi Johnson (born October 4, 1989) is an American fashion model and actress. She is the daughter of actors Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith and the granddaughter of actress Tippi Hedren.

Career

In 1999, she made her film debut in ''Crazy in Alabama'' where she and her half-sister, Stella Banderas, played daughters to their real-life mother, Melanie Griffith. The film was directed by her stepfather, Antonio Banderas.

She was voted Miss Golden Globe, 2006, where she served as the first second-generation Miss Golden Globe in the Globes' history.

In 2006, she signed with IMG Models In 2009, she modeled for MANGO brand's jeans line. Once she graduated from high school she signed with William Morris Agency and started her acting career. She had her first box office hit in 2010 with David Fincher's film ''The Social Network'', in which she had a scene with Justin Timberlake. The film received eight Oscar nominations, including one for Best Picture. She also appeared in four additional films: ''Beastly'', alongside Vanessa Hudgens and Mary-Kate Olsen; Ezna Sands' film ''Theo''; So Yong Kim's film ''For Ellen''; and Larry Clark's film ''Savage Innocent''. She has several forthcoming films: Christopher Neil's film ''Goats'', with David Duchovny; Nicholas Stoller's film ''Five Year Engagement'' for producer Judd Apatow, and the feature film version of the 1987 hit television show ''21 Jump Street'' that made Johnny Depp a star. Bone Thugs-n-Harmony is an American hip hop band from Cleveland, Ohio formed in 1991. It originally consisted of rappers Layzie Bone, Flesh-n-Bone, Bizzy Bone, Krayzie Bone, and Wish Bone. Rapper Eazy-E of the group N.W.A signed Bone Thugs-n-Harmony to Ruthless Records in 1994, when Bone Thugs debuted with EP ''Creepin on ah Come Up''. The EP included the hit single "Thuggish Ruggish Bone.

In 1995, the group released its second album, ''E. 1999 Eternal'', which included hits "1st of tha Month" and "Tha Crossroads." A tribute to the recently deceased Eazy-E, "Tha Crossroads," won a Grammy award in 1997. ''The Art of War'', the group's third album, was also released in 1997.

In 2000 ''BTNHResurrection'' reached platinum in one month and ''Thug World Order'' (2002) received more moderate sales and promotion. After the album the group went on hiatus and released their sixth studio album ''Thug Stories'' independently before returning in 2007 with the major label release ''Strength & Loyalty'', this time released by Swizz Beatz's label Full Surface Records. Bone Thugs-n-Harmony officially returned with their new album ''Uni-5: The World's Enemy'', released in 2010 by their own record label, BTNH Worldwide, with distribution by Warner Bros.. Due to internal conflicts with the group, longtime members Krayzie Bone and Wish Bone officially left the group in April 2011. Despite speculation that the group was splitting up, Flesh-n-Bone announced that a new album with him, Layzie and Bizzy will be released soon. Krayzie and Wish are currently working with upcoming artists on their label The Life Ent.

B.O.N.E Enterpri$e Early years

The group formed the band B.O.N.E. Enterpri$e consisted of five members: Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone, Bizzy Bone, Wish Bone and Flesh-n-Bone and recorded an album entitled Faces Of Death in the studio of their then mentor, Kermit Henderson (Krayzie Bone's younger brother) on his indie label Stoney Burke in 1993. The group renamed itself Bone Thugs-n-Harmony. In November 1993, the group auditioned backstage for rapper Eazy-E. Krayzie Bone performed his verse of "Flow Motion" from the Faces of Death album and Eazy-E was impressed. Eazy-E signed the group (minus Flesh-n-Bone) to his label Ruthless Records.

Ruthless Records

''Creepin on ah Come Up''

Released in June 1994, the EP ''Creepin on ah Come Up'', was Bone Thugs-n-Harmony's debut with Ruthless. Peaking at #12 on the ''Billboard'' 200 album chart and #2 on the Top R&B;/Hip-Hop Albums chart, it included the hit singles "Thuggish Ruggish Bone" and "Foe tha Love of $", the second of which featured a verse by Eazy-E. "Thuggish Ruggish Bone" peaked at #22 on the ''Billboard'' Hot 100 chart and #2 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart, and "Foe tha Love of $" peaked at #41 on the Hot 100 and #4 on the Rap Tracks. The EP marked a major change in style for the group, as they now fully embraced the G-Funk common in West Coast hip-hop of the time. It was the group's first collaboration with producer DJ U-Neek, who would craft the group's signature sound by producing the majority of their next two albums.

''E. 1999 Eternal''

In 1995, the group's second album ''E. 1999 Eternal'' was released. It included the singles "1st of tha Month", which peaked at #14 on the Hot 100 and #4 on the Hot Rap Tracks, and "Tha Crossroads", which reached #1 on the Hot 100 and Hot Rap Tracks charts. The album name originated from Eazy-E's album, Eternal E, naming it after Eazy-E's album was just another way of showing respect and tribute to the rapper that helped make them big. In the same year, Flesh-n-Bone would become the first member of the group to release a debut album entitled T.H.U.G.S. Though not made official the album has sold well over 10 million and should have a Diamond status but the record label (Ruthless Records) are not paying to have it certified.

According to LA based recording engineer Dave 'rainman' Banta the album is nearing up to 20 Million Sales (2x Diamond) Making it one of the highest selling Rap/Hip-Hop Albums of all time. The information was passed onto him by both Group member Layzie bone and also the Co founder and CEO of Ruthless Records Jerry Heller

''The Art of War''

In 1997, the group released the double-disc set ''The Art of War''. The album was rumored to be called "DNA Level C" which is Cleveland backwards. The single "Look into My Eyes" appeared on the soundtrack of the film ''Batman & Robin''. It peaked at #4 on the Hot 100 and #2 on the Hot Rap Tracks chart. "If I Could Teach the World", the other single from ''The Art of War'', peaked at #27 on the Hot 100 and #3 on the Hot Rap Tracks.

''BTNHResurrection''

In 2000, the group released ''BTNHResurrection''. The album featured the single "Resurrection (Paper, Paper)", which peaked on the Hot R&B;/Hip-Hop Songs chart at #52. Flesh-n-Bone was convicted for assault with a firearm and criminal possession of a weapon in June 2000. Pleading guilty, Flesh-n-Bone was sentenced to 11 years in prison. Bizzy Bone abstained from promoting ''BTNHResurrection'' because he felt that Ruthless Records owed him money. He dropped a million-dollar lawsuit he filed against Sony Music and Loud Records in exchange for a termination of his Sony contract. Three members of Bone Thugs-n-Harmony released solo albums in 2001: Bizzy Bone with ''The Gift'', Layzie Bone with ''Thug by Nature'', and Krayzie Bone with ''Thug on da Line''.

''Thug World Order''

In 2002, the group released ''Thug World Order''. The album debuted at #12 on the ''Billboard'' 200, and its single "Home" that featured Phil Collins performing part of his song "Take Me Home" peaked at #33 on the Rhythmic Top 40. Bizzy Bone was expelled from the group in January 2003 thus leaving only 3 active members Krayzie Bone, Layzie Bone & Wish Bone.

After Ruthless

''Thug Stories''

''Thug Stories'', Bone Thugs-n-Harmony's sixth album was recorded on Koch Records and released on September 19, 2006. It marked the first time Bone Thugs-n-Harmony recorded as a trio. ''Thug Stories'' sold 38,000 in its first week and peaked at #25 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on the Independent Album Chart.

''Strength & Loyalty''

Originally to be called ''The Bone Thugs Story'', ''Strength & Loyalty'' was released on May 8, 2007. Being their first major album after an absence of nearly five years, the album debuted at #2 on the Billboard 200 and #1 on iTunes and the Billboard Urban Music charts. The album contains guest appearances by Mariah Carey, The Game, will.i.am, Akon, Twista, Bow Wow, Yolanda Adams, and Felecia.

Producers on the album included Swizz Beatz, Akon, Pretty Boy & Bradd Young, DJ Toomp, Jermaine Dupri, will.i.am, and others. The executive producer of the album was Swizz Beatz. The first single was "I Tried", which was their first top 10 hit in 10 years, having peaked at number 6 on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100. The second single was "Lil Love", which failed to reach the success of their first single. The album has been certified Gold by the RIAA.

''T.H.U.G.S.''

''T.H.U.G.S.'' is an album featuring previously unreleased, largely remixed Bone Thugs-n-Harmony songs that didn't make the final cut of ''BTNHResurrection'' and ''Thug World Order'' albums. It was released on November 13, 2007 by their former record label, Ruthless Records. The sole single off the album was "Young Thugs", which was accompanied by a newly-filmed music video featuring Krayzie, Layzie, Bizzy and Wish.

Reunion

In November 2007, Layzie Bone confirmed that he had completed the ''Bone Brothers III'' album with Bizzy Bone, spurring speculation of a full Bone reunion. In a video interview, Krayzie Bone stated that they all wanted to reunite but that record label issues may prevent an official reunion. Bizzy Bone had attended a Bone Thugs performance during the time and he and the three then-standing members had a "good conversation".

After nearly a decade of incarceration, Flesh-n-Bone was released from prison on July 13, 2008. In an interview, Bizzy confirmed his return to the group, after them all getting together by the time of Flesh's release.

''Uni5: The World's Enemy''

Bone Thugs-n-Harmony five members officially returned with their new album Uni-5: The World's Enemy, released in 2010 by their own record label, BTNH Worldwide, with distribution by Warner Bros. They released the singles See Me Shine featuring Lyfe Jennings and Rebirth. A third single, "Meet Me in the Sky", was released on March 22. ''Uni-5: The World's Enemy'' was released on May 4, 2010.

Style and technique

Bone's style and technique can be described as melodic, yet rapid-fire and aggressive. Their flow is often interwoven at a high-speed, melodic pace or slow, harmonic pace. They also tend to ride the beat that they're rapping over. Sometimes there are very few choruses separating their verses from one another. In the beginning, circa Faces of Death, Bone used a pseudo-Jamaican patois delivery with their trademark style, though they rarely do this now. Bone's subject matter has both spiritual and occult undertones (e.g., "Hell Sent", "Intro", "Mr. Ouija", "Mr. Ouija 2" and "Da Introduction"). At first, their subject matter was almost always exclusively about violence and smoking marijuana. Today, however, their subject matter includes other topics such as urban socio-political issues, their old friend and mentor Eazy-E and religion. Besides minor changes to subject matter and sound, their lyrical style, elocution, and overall methodology remain intact and have influenced many new artist's today who have picked up this unique style.

Krayzie Bone & Wish Bone Departure

On the 14th of April 2011, Bone Thugs-N-Harmony member Krayzie Bone announced he left the group after 20 years citing uncontrollable circumstances along with Wish Bone to pursue their solo careers further and release records on their label, The Life Entertainment. Flesh-n-Bone stated that him leaving the group was a serious disrespect mark towards Eazy-E and says "He might as well say fuck Eazy!" and that he (Krayzie) knows where home is if he wants to come back to the group. Due to Flesh being angered, his retaliation led him towards the idea of an album titled "Majority Rules" but Bizzy Bone in a later interview stated that this is not official and it was just his thoughts spoken out of anger towards Krayzie.
