Read My Lips (film)

Read My Lips (French: Sur mes lèvres) is a 2001 French film by Jacques Audiard, co-written with Tonino Benacquista. The film stars Vincent Cassel as Paul, an ex-con on parole, and Emmanuelle Devos as Carla, a nearly deaf secretary whose colleagues treat her disrespectfully, causing her to suffer. Despite their different backgrounds and initial fear of each other, they end up intimately related and helping each other.

Plot

The film is set partially in the business offices and partially in the underworld of Paris. Carla, a lonely woman burdened by lack of respect from her co-workers and her only friend, Annie, begins to change after a younger man enters her life.

Carla is introduced immediately with a shot of her putting in her hearing aids. She is an overworked and under-appreciated secretary for a construction company, ridiculed behind her back by her co-workers who do not know she is deaf but despise her homely appearance and subservient position. After she faints from exhaustion she accepts the boss's offer to hire an intern to lighten her load.

Read My Lips (Melissa song)

"Read My Lips" is a pop song written by Tony King and Roy Nicolson, produced by Leon Berger for Melissa's first album Fresh (1992). It was released as the album's first single in Australia as a CD single on 27 May 1991. Starring as Nikki Spencer on the Australian soap opera E Street at the time the song was released, it became Melissa's first and only number-one hit.

"Read My Lips" was the only number one hit in 1991 by a solo female Australian singer and was nominated for two ARIA Awards. The song debuted on the Australian ARIA Singles Chart on 3 June 1991 at number forty-one. After just six weeks of being in the charts, the song had made its way to number one, knocking "The Grease Megamix" off the top spot. It stayed there for another week but then was knocked off the top by "(Everything I Do) I Do It for You" by Bryan Adams. "Read My Lips" became Melissa's highest selling single of her career, spending eighteen weeks in the top fifty, and twenty-one weeks in the top 100. The single was certified platinum by ARIA, becoming the sixth highest selling single for 1991. "Read My Lips" won the ARIA Award for "Highest Selling Single" for 1992.

Read My Lips (Ciara song)

"Read My Lips" is a song recorded by American singer-songwriter Ciara for her fifth studio album, Ciara (2013). It was written by Ciara, Livvi Franc, and co-written and produced by Rodney "Darkchild" Jerkins. The song was set to be released as the third single from the album, but it was unfortunately cancelled. To promote the album, Ciara recorded "video shorts" for some songs, including one for "Read My Lips", which lasts for 1:30.

Musically, "Read My Lips" is an electropop song, with sunshine-y chords and bouncy, half-organic drums. Lyrically, the song features a lot of innuendos about cunnilingus, where Ciara uses a sweet vocal to talk about it. "Read My Lips" received favorable reviews from music critics who praised the song for being both ridiculously lubricious and kind of sweet. The song has charted at number 5 on the South Korea charts, selling over 890,000 copies.

Background and release

In March 2013, "Body Party" was released as "Ciara"'s lead single. After "Body Party" success, the song "I'm Out" was released to radio stations, becoming a moderate success. In August 2013, Ciara announced in an interview with "Hollywood Life" that "Where You Go", featuring her boyfriend Future, will serve as the third official single from the album in the United States, while "Overdose" will serve as the next international single. However, in September 2013, Ciara confirmed in an interview and on her Twitter that "Read My Lips" was set to be the album's new single, but in the same month, the cover of "Overdose" was released and it was announced that the song would set to hit radio in October 14, 2013. As of November, "Read My Lips" has not been released as a single however, the song is available on iTunes.

The Mže (Czech pronunciation: [ˈm̩ʒɛ]; German: Mies) is a 107 km long river in the Czech Republic. Its source is situated in the Griesbach Forest (726 metres), Germany, near the village of Asch, in the municipality of Mähring, Tirschenreuth district. It forms the state boundary for a short distance of 3 kilometers and then finally enters Czech territory. It passes through the towns of Tachov and Stříbro.
