Oh boy, the most disappointing game of the millennium (if you're an avid rhythm gamer of course). Let's get one thing straight before we continue, this is a Rock Band 4 apologetic-free zone, so if you have something nice to say about the game that doesn't pertain to the setlist, the legacy harms, or the FC counter then don't waste your time commenting. When compared to previous iterations, this game is a complete farce, no argument about that. The drums in particular are still spotty as ever on the stock kit I play on when I'm at Matt's, and it truly frustrates me that no one can really empathize with how difficult something like Jane was to FC on such an unreliable game/kit in full band. Despite all of the shit this game gave me when drumming on my last trip, when I landed I was seized by this morbid desire to conquer this sham. Fortunately my brother just so happened to have a ps4 in his closet that I could use to play the game. This console's availability was quite serendipitous because ps4 has had ion compatibility since launch, meaning I could actually play Pro Drums on Rock Band 4 reliably. And that's how we're here. Now a quick note about this recent update that adjusted the "slop" window for drums. For starters, yes, I FCed DG when the update dropped, do I think it was because the update made the game so much easier? No. Like Brady I had already choked the outro multiple times before it, so it wasn't an FC-creating difference. I'd be more inclined to call it a fair window, very similar to RB3's if not identical, whereas pre-slop adjustment I couldn't get a consistent grasp on where I precisely needed to hit notes. However, on top of making DG "easier," this update also seriously fucked with pro drums and made Metropolis and Dead Black MUCH harder, I'll get to why in their sections. So I've addressed it, don't make a shitstorm about it in the comments or try to undersell either mine or Brady's FC's. Metropolis - 0:00 Without a doubt my favorite song in this game, and potentially my favorite in the entire RB series. On top of that it's so damn fun to play, there's not much more I could ask for in a song; except for maybe asking if the cymbal rolls would work properly. Like I mentioned earlier, this update janked the shit out of pro drums, particularly in sections like 4:18 and 8:04 where there are quick cymbal bursts. For some inexplicable reason the timing on these bits was absolutely wack, made no sense to me, and made this take over an hour, which is wholly ridiculous because this is not a hard FC. Regardless I wanted this in here because it's part of the Big 3 and it's amazing to listen to. Dead Black (Heart of Ice) - 9:47 The first disc song with alternating blast beats! Not very fast or challenging, but also very fun. This one gave me some trouble when I was learning the timing on the blast speedup and the double kick fill in the last section, but once you got those down this one's automatic. EXCEPT on this new update. The FC of this in this video is a Re-FC, on the wonderful new drums engine, and if you can't tell I play the section at 14:50 very grossly. Hitting the kicks after the 7 yellows was the only consistent way I could make this section work, missed there 6 times before finally re-getting this, such an unnecessary hassle. I believe this is 1st Ever on Pro, but Llama could have very well FCed this before lb's got wiped, not sure. Dream Genie - 17:40 The infamous one, the meme, the hardest song in the rock band series!!!!(lol) Having FCed this now I don't find this as hard as it felt when the outro was taking a sledgehammer to my groin, but I do think this song now makes 4 "key" FC's if one was going for a FSFC. I regret that my camera angle on this song was so trash because you can hardly see all the crossovers during the bridge sections making this a whole lot less fun to watch than it could have been, my apologies. If you were there when I FCed this then you'd know what's coming at the end of this video, but for those of you that weren't I'll explain: I reacted too violently and the power in my room went out. I was so scared that I wouldn't get adequate proof for this slut of a song but thank God my stream died right as the wreath popped up. GG electricity.
