Latrell Fontaine Sprewell (born September 8, 1970) is a former American professional basketball player; he played for the Golden State Warriors, the New York Knicks, and the Minnesota Timberwolves. During his time as a professional, Sprewell was named to the yearly NBA All-Star game four times; he also helped the Knicks reach the NBA Finals and the Timberwolves the Western Conference finals. Despite his accomplishments, his career was overshadowed by a 1997 incident in which he choked coach P. J. Carlesimo during a practice, which ultimately resulted in a 68-game suspension.
Sprewell's career came to an unexpected end in 2005 when he refused a $21-million three-year contract offer from the Timberwolves, which he implied would not be enough to feed his children. Since that time, he has made headlines for grounding his million dollar yacht, having two of his homes foreclosed upon, and being prohibited from seeing his children.
After attending Washington High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, Sprewell played competitively with the Three Rivers Community College Raiders Basketball Team in Poplar Bluff, Missouri from 1988–1990, and from 1990–1992 with the University of Alabama, where he was a teammate of future NBA players Robert Horry, Jason Caffey and James Robinson.
New York is a state in the Northeastern United States and is the United States' 27th-most extensive, fourth-most populous, and seventh-most densely populated state. New York is bordered by New Jersey and Pennsylvania to the south and Connecticut, Massachusetts, and Vermont to the east. The state has a maritime border in the Atlantic Ocean with Rhode Island, east of Long Island, as well as an international border with the Canadian provinces of Quebec to the north and Ontario to the west and north. The state of New York, with an estimated 19.8 million residents in 2015, is often referred to as New York State to distinguish it from New York City, the state's most populous city and its economic hub.
With an estimated population of nearly 8.5 million in 2014, New York City is the most populous city in the United States and the premier gateway for legal immigration to the United States. The New York City Metropolitan Area is one of the most populous urban agglomerations in the world. New York City is a global city, exerting a significant impact upon commerce, finance, media, art, fashion, research, technology, education, and entertainment, its fast pace defining the term New York minute. The home of the United Nations Headquarters, New York City is an important center for international diplomacy and has been described as the cultural and financial capital of the world, as well as the world's most economically powerful city. New York City makes up over 40% of the population of New York State. Two-thirds of the state's population lives in the New York City Metropolitan Area, and nearly 40% live on Long Island. Both the state and New York City were named for the 17th century Duke of York, future King James II of England. The next four most populous cities in the state are Buffalo, Rochester, Yonkers, and Syracuse, while the state capital is Albany.
The New York Knickerbockers, commonly referred to as the Knicks, are an American professional basketball team based in New York City. The Knicks compete in the National Basketball Association (NBA) as a member club of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference. The team plays its home games at Madison Square Garden, located in the borough of Manhattan. They are one of two NBA teams located in New York City; the other is the Brooklyn Nets. The team, established by Ned Irish in 1946, was one of the founding members of the Basketball Association of America (BAA), which became the NBA after merging with the rival National Basketball League (NBL) in 1949. Along with the Boston Celtics, the Knicks are one of only two original NBA teams still located in its original city. As they played the debut game, the Knicks is technically the oldest franchise in league history.
The Knicks were successful during their early years and were constant playoff contenders under the franchise's first head coach Joe Lapchick. Beginning in 1950, the Knicks made three consecutive appearances in the NBA Finals, all of which were losing efforts. Lapchick resigned in 1956 and the team subsequently began to falter. It was not until the late 1960s when Red Holzman became head coach that the Knicks began to regain their former dominance. Holzman successfully guided the Knicks to two NBA championships, in 1970 and 1973. The Knicks of the 1980s had mixed success that included six playoff appearances; however, they failed to participate in the NBA Finals.

Latrell Sprewell was a player known for his off-the-court indiscretions more than his on-the-court triumphs. And it's a shame. Spree was a luminary on the court. Blessed with speed, strength and agility in copious amounts, Sprewell began his career with the Warriors, where he was an All-Star in 1994, 1995 and 1997. He was his most dangerous with the ball in his hands, being able to take his man off the dribble and attack the basket with amazing ferocity. Spree joined the Knicks during the lockout-shorten 1998-99 season and led New York's inspired playoff run that ended in a defeat to the David Robinson and Tim Duncan-led Spurs. He was traded to the Timberwolves during the summer of 2003 and took Minnesota to the Western Conference finals alongside regular-season MVP Kevin Garnett and S...

Sprewell is one of the most underrated defensive players in NBA history. In Game 1 he destroyed Vince and held him to 3/20 FG, and in Game 3 the Knicks finished the sweep thanks to Sprewell doing another great job on Vince and holding him to 5/17 FG

Latrell Sprewell comes up big in an elimination game for the Knicks as he scores 25 in the second half to lead the struggling New York offense. Although Damon Stoudamire claimed that an NBA team can't win the title with Avery Johnson as their point guard, The Little General proves him wrong with the shot of his career coming off a mistake by Sprewell, who didn't play his best when it mattered the most - the last possessions of the 1999 NBA finals. It's still Spree at his best though. June 25, 1999.
Song: Children of the Corn - American Dream
The New York Knicks got their first look at Dikembe Mutombo in a Philadelphia 76ers uniform. In the end, they saw enough of Allen Iverson. Without center Marcus Camby to provide his shot-blocking prowess, the Knicks had no second line of defense for Philadelphia's electrifying guard and suffered an 89-82 loss to the 76ers. The absence of Camby became pronounced in the final minutes after Latrell Sprewell scored eight straight points to pull the Knicks within 79-77. But Iverson would not let his team fall apart. He hit a 19-foot jumper over Sprewell from the left sideline with 2:57 left. On New York's next two possessions, the intimidation factor of the 7-foot-2 Mutombo caused Kurt Thomas to go too strong off the backboard on a running layup and Sprewell had a layup attempt partially bl...

Here is the conclusion of the game and an interview with Latrell Sprewell.
When’s the last time you thought about Latrell Sprewell? SLAM published a pretty interesting feature on him in early July, and he was also featured in a Priceline commercial back in February. But if you missed both of those things, then there’s a good chance that your answer to that question is "2005," which is the last time Sprewell played in the NBA. Since leaving the league, Sprewell has refused to do many interviews, and he hasn’t had a strong connection with any NBA team, so he has more or less fallen off the face of the earth and become an afterthought for most basketball fans. Right before the 2004 All-Star weekend, Kevin Garnett, Sam Cassell, and Latrell Sprewell appeared on The Late Late Show with Craig Kilborn. I don't have the full interview. This is the final segment, where Kilborn played 5 Questions with the Timberwolves trio. Kevin Garnett, 27 at the time, was the league MVP that year, as the Timberwolves stormed to the Western Conference Finals.
Come inside I'll show you my life,
My personal hell that you have made.
Twisted brain you've poison eyes,
Buried in your pretty face.
You've burned down a part of me,
Maybe better now this way.
Beware! The time's now closer,
The time has come for you to pay.
Poison Eyes.
Staring down a thousand cries
Sinfull Eyes.
Vomiting a hundred lies
Time to pay my beloved one,
Now your sins tears you apart.
Bloody dreams in haze you're lost,
Your heart is pounding in the cold.
Magic flames your soul they shatter,
I'm the wizard the spell caster
The time is coming meet your doom
Come and face the endless gloom
Poison Eyes.
Staring down a thousand cries
Sinfull Eyes.
Vomiting a hundred lies
Die for your sins,
Cry for your life,
Pay for my dreams,
Pray now it's time.
Come to me and feel me
And all those tears I've been
Shedding for you all those years
I've been lonely.
Winds of despair
Blow strong tonight
Shattering my life
A lifetime of lies
Desire now burning
Desire now burning
Desire now burning
