East Pakistan (Bengali: পূর্ব পাকিস্তান Pūrbô Pākistān; Urdu: مشرقی پاکستان Mas̱ẖriqī Pākistān IPA: [məʃrɪqiː pɑːkɪst̪ɑːn]), present-day Bangladesh, was a provincial state of Pakistan that existed in the Bengal region of the northeast of South Asia from 1955 until 1971, following the One Unit programme that laid the existence of East Pakistan.

It is the sixth-most populous country with a population exceeding 199 million people. It is the 36th largest country in the world in terms of area with an area covering 881,913 km2 (340,509 sq mi). Pakistan has a 1,046-kilometre (650 mi) coastline along the Arabian Sea and the Gulf of Oman in the south and is bordered by India to the east, Afghanistan to the west, Iran to the southwest and China in the far northeast respectively. It is separated from Tajikistan by Afghanistan's narrow Wakhan Corridor in the north, and also shares a maritime border with Oman.
The territory that now constitutes Pakistan was previously home to several ancient cultures, including the Mehrgarh of the Neolithic and the Bronze Age Indus Valley Civilisation, and was later home to kingdoms ruled by people of different faiths and cultures, including Hindus, Indo-Greeks, Muslims, Turco-Mongols, Afghans and Sikhs. The area has been ruled by numerous empires and dynasties, including the Indian Mauryan Empire, the Persian Achaemenid Empire, Alexander of Macedonia, the Arab Umayyad Caliphate, the Mongol Empire, the Mughal Empire, the Durrani Empire, the Sikh Empire and the British Empire. As a result of the Pakistan Movement led by Muhammad Ali Jinnah and the subcontinent's struggle for independence, Pakistan was created in 1947 as an independent nation for Muslims from the regions in the east and west of the Subcontinent where there was a Muslim majority. Initially a dominion, Pakistan adopted a new constitution in 1956, becoming an Islamic republic. A civil war in 1971 resulted in the secession of East Pakistan as the new country of Bangladesh.

Paristan (film)
Paristan (Land of Fairies) is a Bollywood fantasy film. It was released in 1944. The film was directed by Mahesh Kaul for Acharya Art productions. It starred Pahari Sanyal, Anjali Devi, Kamal Zamindar, Sunalini Devi, Moni Chatterjee and Padma Bannerjee. The music was composed by Ninu Majumdar and the lyrics were by Roopdas and Ninu Majumdar. This was Mahesh Kaul's second film after Angoori (1943).

Dominion of Pakistan
The Dominion of Pakistan (Bengali: পাকিস্তান অধিরাজ্য pakistan ôdhirajyô; Urdu: مملکتِ پاکستان mumlikāt-ē pākistān), commonly called Pakistan, was an independent federal dominion in South Asia that was established in 1947 on the Partition of India into two sovereign countries (the other being the Dominion of India). The dominion, which included much of modern-day Pakistan and Bangladesh, was conceived under the two-nation theory as a home for the Muslims of the former British India. To begin with it did not include the princely states of Pakistan, which acceded slowly between 1947 and 1948. In 1956 it became the Islamic Republic of Pakistan; and in 1971 East Pakistan seceded from the union to become Bangladesh.
Partition of British India
Section 1 of the Indian Independence Act 1947 provided that from "the fifteenth day of August, nineteen hundred and forty-seven, two independent dominions shall be set up in India, to be known respectively as India and Pakistan." India was treated by the United Nations as the successor-state to the former British India. As it was already a member of the United Nations, India continued to hold its seat there and did not apply for a new membership. However, Pakistan was a newly created nation and needed to apply to join. It was admitted as a UN member on 30 September 1947, a few weeks after its independence The British monarch became head of state of the new dominion, with Pakistan sharing a king with the other Commonwealth realms, but the monarch's constitutional roles were delegated to the Governor-General of Pakistan, and most real power resided with the new government headed by Jinnah.

West Pakistan and its Urdu-speaking elites dominated the entire state, although the ethnically Bengali East were the majority of the population. The Bengali majority was discriminated against in education, the military, politics, and other aspects of life. This discrimination fell especially hard on the Hindu minority, but the Muslim majority was also characterized as a lesser cultural and racial group to the Western Pakistani. The Pakistani government also tried to suppress Bengali culture, arts, and literature as too “Hindu leaning.” On top of this, economic exploitation of the East’s resources with minimal return investment also created resentment and left the East feeling more like a colony than an equal partner.
Despite this, the Bengalis were reputed for their non-violence. Their discontent was funneled through democratic means, namely the Awami League (AL) under the leadership of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, also known as Sheikh Mujib. The AL pushed for more autonomy for East Pakistan, but try as they might, the Bengalis did not get the democratic resolution they’d hoped for.

Their discontent was funneled through democratic means, namely the Awami League (AL) under the leadership of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, also known as Sheikh Mujib. The AL pushed for more autonomy for East Pakistan, but try as they might, the Bengalis did not get the democratic resolution they’d hoped for.

In Dacca, Pakistan's President Yahya Khan and East
Pakistani leader Sheikh Mujibar Rahman are trying to
end the month-long constitutional crisis that is
threatening to tear Pakistan apart. Sheikh Mujib's
Awami League won a majority of seats to the
Constituent Assembly after the December 1970
elections, but his constitutional proposals are
unacceptable to West Pakistan's minority party, led by
Zulfiqar Bhutto. Mujib has organised a general strike
in support of far-reaching autonomy for East Pakistan;
many of his followers would like to see him declare
unilateral independence.

Pakistan gears up for ICC Champions Trophy: stadiums in Lahore, Karachi get final touches
The Pakistan Cricket Board allayed fears about the preparedness of the venues for the Champions Trophy 2025. The eight-team 50-overs tournament will be the first global competition to be held in Pakistan in 28 years. India, however, will play all their matches in Dubai due to political tensions with the Pakistani Government. Stadiums in Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi in Pakistan are being upgraded for the ICC tournament. The stadium's capacity has been increased to accommodate 35,000 fans while new hospitality areas have also been constructed. Pakistan have announced their playing XI for the second Test. They've made one change. Kashif Ali will be making his Test debut. Khurram Shahzad misses out.
It was a trial by spin for the West Indies, and they failed to combat the dominant duo of Nauman Ali and Sajid Khan in Multan. A similar kind of surface is expected for the second Test between Pakistan and the West Indies which is set to be played at the Multan Cricket Stadium from Saturday (January 25).
The West Indies made some shocking decisions, dropping their vice-captain, Joshua Da Silva, to hand a debut to Tevin Imlach. However, that decision didn't work well, as they lost the first Test by a whopping margin of 127 runs.
By the time Jomel Warrican and Kevin Sinclair got used to the surface, Pakistan had raced so far ahead in the game that it was almost impossible for the visitors to make a comeback.
A lot was expected from left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie but he was disappointing and that hurt the Windies in Multan.
The visitors might want to shuffle things up and boost their batting by bringing back Joshua Da Silva to add some experience. Kemar Roach, who had missed the last match due to illness, is also expected to be back and support Jayden Seales.
On the other hand, Pakistan would want to keep the winning combination. If anything, they might be tempted to bring in Imam-ul-Haq.
In the first Test, Pakistan were bowled out for 230 in their first innings thanks to a 141-run stand between Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan for the fifth wicket.
Jayden Seales and Jomel Warrican picked up three wickets each while Kevin Sinclair bagged a couple and Motie got one. Nauman Ali was run out.

The Pakistan Cricket Board allayed fears about the preparedness of the venues for the Champions Trophy 2025. The eight-team 50-overs tournament will be the first global competition to be held in Pakistan in 28 years. India, however, will play all their matches in Dubai due to political tensions with the Pakistani Government. Stadiums in Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi in Pakistan are being upgraded for the ICC tournament. The stadium's capacity has been increased to accommodate 35,000 fans while new hospitality areas have also been constructed. Lahore and Karachi will host a tri-nation series involving New Zealand and South Africa next month.

The Dominion of Pakistan came into existence in 1947. Covering the modern area of Pakistan in the West and Bangladesh in the East, their shared Muslim faith was not enough to bridge the many linguistic, ethnic, and cultural gaps between the two sides of the country.
West Pakistan and its Urdu-speaking elites dominated the entire state, although the ethnically Bengali East were the majority of the population. The Bengali majority was discriminated against in education, the military, politics, and other aspects of life. This discrimination fell especially hard on the Hindu minority, but the Muslim majority was also characterized as a lesser cultural and racial group to the Western Pakistani. The Pakistani government also tried to suppress Bengali culture, arts, and literature as too “Hindu leaning.” On top of this, economic exploitation of the East’s resources with minimal return investment also created resentment and left the East feeling more like a colony than an equal partner.
Despite this, the Bengalis were reputed for their non-violence. Their discontent was funneled through democratic means, namely the Awami League (AL) under the leadership of Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, also known as Sheikh Mujib. The AL pushed for more autonomy for East Pakistan, but try as they might, the Bengalis did not get the democratic resolution they’d hoped for.

In Dacca, Pakistan's President Yahya Khan and East
Pakistani leader Sheikh Mujibar Rahman are trying to
end the month-long constitutional crisis that is
threatening to tear Pakistan apart. Sheikh Mujib's
Awami League won a majority of seats to the
Constituent Assembly after the December 1970
elections, but his constitutional proposals are
unacceptable to West Pakistan's minority party, led by
Zulfiqar Bhutto. Mujib has organised a general strike
in support of far-reaching autonomy for East Pakistan;
many of his followers would like to see him declare
unilateral independence.

Pakistan have announced their playing XI for the second Test. They've made one change. Kashif Ali will be making his Test debut. Khurram Shahzad misses out.
It was a trial by spin for the West Indies, and they failed to combat the dominant duo of Nauman Ali and Sajid Khan in Multan. A similar kind of surface is expected for the second Test between Pakistan and the West Indies which is set to be played at the Multan Cricket Stadium from Saturday (January 25).
The West Indies made some shocking decisions, dropping their vice-captain, Joshua Da Silva, to hand a debut to Tevin Imlach. However, that decision didn't work well, as they lost the first Test by a whopping margin of 127 runs.
By the time Jomel Warrican and Kevin Sinclair got used to the surface, Pakistan had raced so far ahead in the game that it was almost impossible for the visitors to make a comeback.
A lot was expected from left-arm spinner Gudakesh Motie but he was disappointing and that hurt the Windies in Multan.
The visitors might want to shuffle things up and boost their batting by bringing back Joshua Da Silva to add some experience. Kemar Roach, who had missed the last match due to illness, is also expected to be back and support Jayden Seales.
On the other hand, Pakistan would want to keep the winning combination. If anything, they might be tempted to bring in Imam-ul-Haq.
In the first Test, Pakistan were bowled out for 230 in their first innings thanks to a 141-run stand between Saud Shakeel and Mohammad Rizwan for the fifth wicket.
Jayden Seales and Jomel Warrican picked up three wickets each while Kevin Sinclair bagged a couple and Motie got one. Nauman Ali was run out.

The Pakistan Cricket Board allayed fears about the preparedness of the venues for the Champions Trophy 2025. The eight-team 50-overs tournament will be the first global competition to be held in Pakistan in 28 years. India, however, will play all their matches in Dubai due to political tensions with the Pakistani Government. Stadiums in Lahore, Karachi and Rawalpindi in Pakistan are being upgraded for the ICC tournament. The stadium's capacity has been increased to accommodate 35,000 fans while new hospitality areas have also been constructed. Lahore and Karachi will host a tri-nation series involving New Zealand and South Africa next month.
