this is a video showing berlin, the german capital around the year 1900, although the last scenes are from 1914. ENJOY!
P.S I´m sick of repeating it time after time, so here is the following:
i just wanted to keep the title as short as possible, so i didn´t want to write " Berlin and germany in the years of 1890-1920" . therfore, i chose the year 1900 to give the viewer a general idea of about what year the footage he is watching is from.
So yes, some scenes are from munich,(2) although the very most, 98% or so is indeed Berlin footage.
If you own some of that footage or and want credit for it or want it removed, please send me a message and I will delete it immidiatley!

I came across this house on one of my winter road trips. Its was way back from the road, but the un-plowed driveway was my first hint that this location may be abandoned. And after a long walk in, SCORE! it was this amazing house. I am not going to lie, from the outside, I was worried about entering, the broken concrete walls we my first hint. But I could not resist..I had to go in. This old house, build some time around 1905 or so ( based on the news paper insulation) is rotting away slowly but surly. I could count on 2 hands how many more seasons it will last. So much structural damage is obvious, but the exploration was exhilarating. The floors were caved in from top to bottom, and the steps to the basement were inaccessible. The small artifacts left about did give some insight to dates of the dwelling being used. I love old news papers as a gauge of construction or abandonment. The upper arched window, combined with the iron bed and old ice skates askew on the floor were great finds. I will always wonder, like very house I have been in, who left them where they sit. Another fantastic explore on a cold, winter day. Thank you for watching! P.S I´m sick of repeating it time after time, so here is the following:
i just wanted to keep the title as short as possible, so i didn´t want to write " Berlin and germany in the years of 1890-1920" . therfore, i chose the year 1900 to give the viewer a general idea of about what year the footage he is watching is from.
So yes, some scenes are from munich,(2) although the very most, 98% or so is indeed Berlin footage.
If you own some of that footage or and want credit for it or want it removed, please send me a message and I will delete it immidiatley!

I came across this house on one of my winter road trips. Its was way back from the road, but the un-plowed driveway was my first hint that this location may be abandoned. And after a long walk in, SCORE! it was this amazing house. I am not going to lie, from the outside, I was worried about entering, the broken concrete walls we my first hint. But I could not resist..I had to go in.
This old house, build some time around 1905 or so ( based on the news paper insulation) is rotting away slowly but surly. I could count on 2 hands how many more seasons it will last. So much structural damage is obvious, but the exploration was exhilarating.
The floors were caved in from top to bottom, and the steps to the basement were inaccessible. The small artifacts left about did give some insight to dates of the dwelling being used. I love old news papers as a gauge of construction or abandonment. The upper arched window, combined with the iron bed and old ice skates askew on the floor were great finds. I will always wonder, like very house I have been in, who left them where they sit. Another fantastic explore on a cold, winter day.

The early years of the 1900s. This period of rapid economic growth and soaring prosperity in the North and West saw the U.S. become the world's dominant economic, industrial and agricultural power. Every man was a potential Andrew Carnegie, and Americans who achieved wealth celebrated it as never before. This attracted millions of emigres from Europe. Railroads were the major industry, but the factory system, mining, and labor unions also increased in importance.
It was modern America's formative period, when an agrarian society of small producers were transformed into an urban society dominated by industrial corporations. It was a time of new communication technologies; the rise of mass-circulation newspapers and magazines; the growth of commercialized entertainment; and new transportation technologies such as the automobile, electric trains, and trolleys.
Unlike earlier immigrants, who had come from Britain, Canada, Germany, Ireland, and Scandinavia, the "new immigrants" came increasingly from Hungary, Italy, Poland, and Russia. The newcomers were often Catholic or Jewish and two-thirds of them settled in cities.
Telling a story in films began to emerge around 1900. Film makers moved beyond the technical aspects of just showing motion and began to tell stories. Edwin Porter's 1903 film, "The Great Train Robbery" is a good example of the story telling nature of films. These early films were quite short, running 5 to 8 minutes long. Early stars included Charlie Chaplin. In 1913, he was making just $130 a week, but by 1914, he was getting $10,000 a week ($500,000 a year, at a time when there was no federal income tax). He also got a signing bonus of $150,000.
