The Black Pharaohs - Nubian Pharaohs (Ancient Egypt History Documentary)
Dr Vivian Davies claims that a recently discovered set of hieroglyphs proves that, in 800 BC, Egypt was under the rule of black Pharaohs from neighbouring Nubia. This film examines the impact of these sensational discoveries.
Historians have long known about Kush, but relegated its importance to a vassal state of Egypt, significant only for its gold reserves. Early excavations in the Kush capital at Kerma suffered from the innate racism of the archaeologists. Fabulous grave goods, discovered in the 20th century, were thought to have belonged to Kush's Egyptian overlords. They didn't consider that a black African culture could have challenged Egypt's supremacy.
The inscription exposed the truth. Although it won battles, Kush eventually lost the war, and for the next 1000 years, Egypt had the upper hand. But the inscription served as a warning prophecy to Egypt that it might pay a high price. The enslaved Kushites would have their revenge. Allowed, and even encouraged, to rebuild their own kingdom along the lines of Egypt, in 747 BC, Kush attacked the Pharaoh's power in a daring land grab.
The Kushite king, Piye, overthrew the yoke, conquered mighty Egypt and established a 100-year rule of black Pharaohs. Even after being ousted from the Egyptian throne, Kushite kings continued to rule an empire as mighty as any, until the arrival of Alexander the Great. For a number of years, British Museum archaeologists have been making find after find in the Upper Nile Valley to substantiate this story - huge lost pyramids, burial chambers of 200 workers, and stores of gold.

Old report on modern Nubians in Egypt. Note that these peoples are mixed and straight up Nubians are the jet-black like many Sudanese. However, it is good to note that even with mixing, they have the Africa mindset instead of the arab one. Of course this is not widely publicized.
The darkest Africans known as Nubians were once the power in Egypt - as Egyptians, then they were pushed downward into Sudan and practically all black or black enough people in Egypt have been called Nubians, yet no one is called Egyptian except Copts who claim that. It is safe to assume that so-called arabs of Sudan are the REAL Egyptians and south Sudanese are real Nubians. It's a little more complex than that, but you get the idea

The Nubians (Arabic: نوبي, Nuubi) are an ethnic group originally from Nubia northern Sudan, and southern Egypt now inhabiting North Africa and some parts of East Africa.
The Nubian people in Sudan inhabit the region between Wadi Halfa in the north and Aldaba in the south. The main Nubian groups from north to south are the Halfaweyen, Sikut, Mahas, and Danagla. They speak different dialects of the Nubian language.
In ancient times Nubians were depicted by Egyptians as having very dark skin, often shown with hooped earrings and with braided or extended hair. Ancient Nubians were famous for their vast wealth, their trade between Central Africa and the lower Nile valley civilizations, including Egypt, their skill and precision with the bow, their 23-letter alphabet, the use of deadly poison on the heads of their arrows, their great military, their advanced civilization, and their century-long rule over the united upper and lower Egyptian kingdoms.
Nubians are the people of southern Egypt and northern Sudan, settling along the banks of the Nile from Aswan. Their Nubian language is an Eastern Sudanic language, part of the Nilo-Saharan phylum.

Les Nubians is an R&B Grammy-nominated duo composed of sisters Hélène and Célia Faussart from Paris, France. In 1985 the sisters moved with their parents to Chad. Seven years later, they returned to Bordeaux, France, and began singing a cappella, producing poetry slams in Bordeaux and Paris, and singing background vocals for various artists worldwide. The duo's debut album Princesses Nubiennes was released by Virgin Records, France, in 1998.
They have become one of the most successful French-language musical groups in the U.S., best known for their Billboard R&B Single "Makeda" from their Grammy nominated album Princesses Nubiennes. Les Nubians were the 1999 Soul Train Lady of Soul Awards winners for Best New Artist, Group or Duo and received two NAACP Image Awards nominations in 2000.
The duo executive-produced Echos, Chapter One in 2005 on their label Nubiatik; a joint venture with Triloka Records. The project features artists from France, and the U.S. performing poetry and music from the urban edge. Echos, Chapter One: Nubian Voyager was released in 2006 as a book accompaniment to the CD.

Talib Kweli Greene (October 3, 1975), better known as Talib Kweli, is an American rapper. Kweli hails from Brooklyn, New York. His first name in Arabic means "student" or "seeker" (طالب); his middle name in Swahili means "true". Kweli first gained recognition through Black Star, a collaboration with fellow MC Mos Def.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, Kweli grew up in a highly educated household in Park Slope. His mother, Brenda Greene, is an English professor at Medgar Evers College of the City University of New York and his father an administrator at Adelphi University. His younger brother, Jamal Greene, is a professor of Constitutional Law at Columbia Law School, and former clerk to Justice John Paul Stevens on the Supreme Court. As a youth, he was drawn to Afrocentric rappers, such as De La Soul and other members of the Native Tongues Posse whom he had met in high school. Talib Kweli was a student at Cheshire Academy, a boarding school in Connecticut. He was also a student at Brooklyn Technical High School, before being academically dismissed. He later studied experimental theater at New York University.

About 100 thousand Nubians live in Kibera, one of the biggest slums in Africa. Kibera's population is made up of almost 1 million people from different parts of Kenya. Nubians are descendants of soldiers who were transported forcefully from Sudan by the British colonial government in the 1920's. They were enlisted to fight for the British army in the first and second world wars as part of the "King's African Rifles". Then as a token, the Nubians were settled in an area that was in colonial days — prime land in Kenya. They called it "Kibra" which means forest in Arabic. But the British never gave the Nubians title deeds and the land is still owned by the government. Abdul Faraj is a scholar and a Nubian elder who campaigns for his community's rights. He blames the situation in Kibera today on corruption and says part of Kibera should be given back to the Nubians. [Abdul Faraj, Nubian Elder]: "As a result of this huge rural urban migration, aided and abetted by the administration, namely chiefs and D.O.'s in Kibera, they arrogated to themselves the right to allocate land to their cronies, of course for money... very, very corrupt practice and this drew quite a lot of people into Kibera. This is our argument, a proper decongestion of Kibera and then allocating it as a single block to the Nubians — remaining some 800 acres." [Fred Osingo, Kibera Resident]: "Everyone is entitled to their own land, but they need to go to the government instead of implying that the Luhyas, the Kisiis, the Kikuyus should leave because the area belongs to the Nubians. That is not right." George Olali and his family moved from a two-room mud house to this three bedroom flat. The government plans to keep people here temporarily as they work on rebuilding the entire slum over the next nine years. [George Olali]: "There is such a big difference here. Our old house did not even have windows. This one has good ventilation and indoor plumbing, a toilet and a bathroom. Things I did not have before." The Nubian ties to Kenya are in Kibera, and like everyone else, they want life here to get better. If the plans to upgrade the slum are going to work, the government cannot afford to ignore issues that could affect the future of all the people who call Kibera their home. -

About 100 thousand Nubians live in Kibera, one of the biggest slums in Africa. Kibera's population is made up of almost 1 million people from different parts of Kenya. Nubians are descendants of soldiers who were transported forcefully from Sudan by the British colonial government in the 1920's. They were enlisted to fight for the British army in the first and second world wars as part of the "King's African Rifles". Then as a token, the Nubians were settled in an area that was in colonial days — prime land in Kenya. They called it "Kibra" which means forest in Arabic. Dr Vivian Davies claims that a recently discovered set of hieroglyphs proves that, in 800 BC, Egypt was under the rule of black Pharaohs from neighbouring Nubia. This film examines the impact of these sensational discoveries.
Historians have long known about Kush, but relegated its importance to a vassal state of Egypt, significant only for its gold reserves. Early excavations in the Kush capital at Kerma suffered from the innate racism of the archaeologists. Fabulous grave goods, discovered in the 20th century, were thought to have belonged to Kush's Egyptian overlords. They didn't consider that a black African culture could have challenged Egypt's supremacy.
The inscription exposed the truth. Although it won battles, Kush eventually lost the war, and for the next 1000 years, Egypt had the upper hand. But the inscription served as a warning prophecy to Egypt that it might pay a high price. The enslaved Kushites would have their revenge. Allowed, and even encouraged, to rebuild their own kingdom along the lines of Egypt, in 747 BC, Kush attacked the Pharaoh's power in a daring land grab.
The Kushite king, Piye, overthrew the yoke, conquered mighty Egypt and established a 100-year rule of black Pharaohs. Even after being ousted from the Egyptian throne, Kushite kings continued to rule an empire as mighty as any, until the arrival of Alexander the Great. For a number of years, British Museum archaeologists have been making find after find in the Upper Nile Valley to substantiate this story - huge lost pyramids, burial chambers of 200 workers, and stores of gold.

The darkest Africans known as Nubians were once the power in Egypt - as Egyptians, then they were pushed downward into Sudan and practically all black or black enough people in Egypt have been called Nubians, yet no one is called Egyptian except Copts who claim that. It is safe to assume that so-called arabs of Sudan are the REAL Egyptians and south Sudanese are real Nubians. It's a little more complex than that, but you get the idea

"As a result of this huge rural urban migration, aided and abetted by the administration, namely chiefs and D.O.'s in Kibera, they arrogated to themselves the right to allocate land to their cronies, of course for money... very, very corrupt practice and this drew quite a lot of people into Kibera. This is our argument, a proper decongestion of Kibera and then allocating it as a single block to the Nubians — remaining some 800 acres."
[Fred Osingo, Kibera Resident]:
"Everyone is entitled to their own land, but they need to go to the government instead of implying that the Luhyas, the Kisiis, the Kikuyus should leave because the area belongs to the Nubians. That is not right."
George Olali and his family moved from a two-room mud house to this three bedroom flat. The government plans to keep people here temporarily as they work on rebuilding the entire slum over the next nine years.
[George Olali]:
"There is such a big difference here. Our old house did not even have windows. This one has good ventilation and indoor plumbing, a toilet and a bathroom. Things I did not have before."
The Nubian ties to Kenya are in Kibera, and like everyone else, they want life here to get better. If the plans to upgrade the slum are going to work, the government cannot afford to ignore issues that could affect the future of all the people who call Kibera their home.

Brand Nubian is an American hip hop group from New Rochelle, New York, consisting of three MC's: Grand Puba (born Maxwell Dixon, on March 4, 1966), Sadat X (formerly Derek X, born Derek Murphy, on December 29, 1968) and Lord Jamar (born Lorenzo Dechalus, on September 17, 1968), and two DJs: DJ Alamo and DJ Sincere. Its debut album, One for All is one of the most popular and acclaimed alternative hip hop albums of the 1990s, known for socially conscious and politically charged content inspired by the teachings of the Nation of Gods and Earths.[1] About.com placed the group on its list of the 25 Greatest Rap Groups of All Time.
989–1992
Brand Nubian formed in 1989 and their first single, "Brand Nubian," was released in 1989. Signed to Elektra Records by A&R; man Dante Ross, their debut album, One For All, was released in 1990. Generally acclaimed, the album drew fire for militant Five-Percenter rhetoric on tracks such as "Drop the Bomb" and "Wake Up." The controversy helped sales, although the album was still not a great commercial success. A version of the Fab Five Freddy-directed video of the single "Wake Up," featuring a black man in white-face makeup, was banned from MTV. On that channel and from official WEA sources, this image was replaced by a Baptist preacher. The singles "Slow Down," "All for One," and "Wake Up" all became hits on Billboard’s Hot Rap Tracks chart in 1991.
Shortly after the group's debut release, Sadat X and Lord Jamar began having problems with Grand Puba, which caused him to leave the group, along with DJ Alamo, to pursue a solo career. Lord Jamar and Sadat X enlisted DJ Sincere to join the group in 1992. The same year, Puba released his solo debut, Reel to Reel, which featured the hit single "360 Degrees (What Goes Around)".
At the end of 1992, Brand Nubian released the single "Punks Jump up to Get Beat Down". The track created controversy because of its homophobic content such as Sadat X's line "I can freak, fly, flow, fuck up a faggot/I don't understand their ways; I ain't down with gays." Despite of this, the single charted on the Billboard Hot 100 at number 77. Later versions omitted the line and replaced it with different lyrics, including the version on the greatest hits compilation The Very Best of Brand Nubian.

She loves and embraces herself on her own terms - not one set for her by a Eurocentric standard of beauty.
A selection of works in celebration of Black women and the diverse, unique and authentic qualities found within them.
....In the form of conceptual photography by the group’s fine artist Kimberley Williams, the evening will also include works by New York based artist, Passions Ink.
More info: Nubian Nights Out began in December 2014 by a collection of young, progressive, London-based Black women multi-disciplined within the creative industries including, photography, fashion, music and film. Nubian Nights Out was initially created to connect with and have constructive conversations with other like-minded people within the African/Caribbean diaspora in the UK interested in learning more about Black History and identity. To date, there are 503 members signed up to the international networking site Meetup.com where regular events are organised.
Given this group’s strong passion for the Arts, it is not surprising that it serves as the chosen medium to aid in bringing about togetherness among people of African descent within the UK. Nubian Nights Out aims to create and produce their own innovative visual content, primarily through photography and film. Thus, creating platforms to channel this content through their own events and exhibitions.

Groups and Emcees like Tribe Called Quest, Public Enemy, Queen Latifah, KRS-One, and Paris made listeners aware of their African and political roots at time when Hip-Hop was still undergoing its presence in mainstream America.
Emcees Grand Puba, Lord Jamar, Sadat X, DJ Alamo, and DJ Sincere hailed from New Rochelle, New York and formed when Puba's former group Masters of Ceremony broke up. In 1989 the group released their debut album "One For All" which spawned the hits "One For All," "Slow Down," and "Wake Up." On the group's second disc "In God We Trust," Puba and DJ Alamo left the group and Jamar, Sadat, and Sincere took their music more serious and asked producer Diamond D to produce one of Brand Nubian's landmark classic's "Punks Jump Up and Get Beat Down." This album also showcased how the guys would talk about their involvement in Islam and the 5 Percent Nation as well social issues that were affecting the black community.
6 albums later, members of Brand Nubian have developed and performed as solo artists, yet keeping the group out performing and recording. Kibera that covers a landmass of about 700 acres has been home to Nairobi's low-income residents for years. However, the reality of who really owns Kibera is coming to the fore, as the government contemplates giving title deeds to the Nubian community on Sunday. This has been the bone of contention between the 42 tribes that call Kibera home and the Nubians who until the 2009 census were virtually non-existent. Kibra MP Kenneth Okoth is against this issuance of title deeds by the president. He explains why to Victoria Rubadiri.

For over a century the Nubian people have laid claim over land on which sits one of Kenya's largest slums, Kibra. Kibera that covers a landmass of about 700 acres has been home to Nairobi's low-income residents for years. However, the reality of who really owns Kibera is coming to the fore, as the government contemplates giving title deeds to the Nubian community on Sunday. This has been the bone of contention between the 42 tribes that call Kibera home and the Nubians who until the 2009 census were virtually non-existent. Kibra MP Kenneth Okoth is against this issuance of title deeds by the president. He explains why to Victoria Rubadiri.

Lord Jamar expresses his grievances with the two of them, though at the end of the day Rachel is still his "sweet Nubian neanderthal." He also sheds light on the past and current state of Black culture, how it's been stolen and feared by the White community for decades, and why he feels the future looks bleek if the government continues to anger the Black community. "Is this all coincidental that all these things are happening right now?" he rhetorically asks. "I just feel like they're really trying to incite Black people to do some s*** right now," he expresses before diving into his thoughts on present-day concentration camps. "They're already built," Lord Jamar believes. "And they're just waiting for a motherf***** to f*** up."
After touching on Lil B, America's alleged "gay agenda," and why Europeans ultimately fear a Black planet, the topic gets a little more personal when Lord Jamar revisits his upbringing. A young Jamar used to frequent the projects at a young age, and eventually began selling coke at just 13-years-old. He then goes on to admit that he dabbled in his own product for the next six or so years, but a brush with death made him change his ways during his late teens. "The only thing that saved me was having knowledge of self," he tells us. He even alluded to trying heroin twice, although he didn't favor it. "I wanted to be up," Lord Jamar recalls as he reflects on his dark past.

Although "sneaker shaming" (as he likes to call them) are now referred to the trendy new catchphrase, "What are those," he explains why he feels bullying is necessary and says people are willing to spend more for the same quality.
Lord Jamar jokes about "sneaker shaming" he says that it comes along with people constantly tossing around the word "bullying" in which he believes the playful form is imperative. "Now I don't mean like crazy, super mean—trying to make somebody kill themselves bulling—but lightweight bullying, to like toughen motherf***** up..."
Oct. 4, Marbury called out Jordan for being greedy as people murdered others over the limited, expensive sneakers, "Jordan has been robbing the hood since. Kids dying for shoes and the only face this dude makes is I don't care. The time will change!" He added via twitter, "Real people know. I'm off the kids getting killed for Jordan's. I hate that this dude won't change that. Greedy!"
Further into the interview, Lord Jamar says that he loved Marbury's idea, but says that people are willing to spend more based on it's popularity, "Conceptually, I love what Marbury's doing but the reality is that the mindset of the people is so warped, that they would rather pay all that much more money for the Jordan shoe than to pay $15 for the Starbury, even if they were the same quality."
