Dave Sinardet is a Belgian political scientist, author and columnist.
Dave Sinardet is a political scientist, professor at the Vrije Universiteit Brussel and at the University of Antwerp, post-doctoral research fellow of the FWO (National Fund for Scientific Research) and part-time professor at the Facultés Universitaires Saint-Louis in Brussels. He is also an op-ed columnist for the Dutch-speaking newspaper De Standaard and the French-speaking newspaper Le Soir.
Dave Sinardet's research mostly concentrates on comparative federalism, nationalism, language politics, consociational democracy, multi-level governance, democratic legitimacy and political communication. He has published many contributions on these issues in international refereed journals and books, as well as presented numerous papers on them at international conferences. His phd dealt with the (political) role of media in federal multilingual Belgium.
He is also very active in the Belgian public debate on these issues, and specifically on the issue of Belgium's community issues, and he is one of the rare opinion makers doing this on both sides of the language frontier.
