In our latest hilarious interview, the cast of The Night Before, Anthony Mackie, Seth Rogen and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, came by and made us cry of laughter.
This trio opened up about filming the holiday movie, due November 20th, and compared it to just hanging out with friends and having a good time. Although, they did admit things got weird when a bystander almost got into a fight with Mackie -- which scared Seth, leading him to flee the scene.
We also all thought Mackie was crazy when he said "Women do not like Drake," later redeeming himself after rapping along to his lyrics.

With director John Hillcoat’s (The Road, Lawless) Triple 9 opening this weekend, I recently sat down with Anthony Mackie for an extended video interview. During our wide ranging conversation he talked about working with the all-star cast, memorable moments from filming, making characters relatable to the audience, and more. In addition Mackie talked about playing Martin Luther King, Jr. in Jay Roach’s HBO movie All the Way, where his saying “cut the check” originated, Robert Downey Jr.’s amazing base camp set up on Captain America: Civil War and his first sit-down with the actor on set.
If you haven’t seen any of the trailers, scripted by Matt Cook, Triple 9 follows an interconnected web of thieves and corrupt officers who plan to murder a cop in order to draw attention away from the heist they’ll be pulling on the other side of town. The film features an all-star cast made up of Mackie, Casey Affleck, Woody Harrelson, Kate Winslet, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Aaron Paul, Gal Gadot, Teresa Palmer, and Norman Reedus.

Anthony Mackie (born September 23, 1979) is an American actor. He has been featured in feature films, television series and Broadway and Off-Broadway plays, including Ma Rainey's Black Bottom, Drowning Crow, McReele, A Soldier's Play, and Talk, by Carl Hancock Rux, for which he won an Obie Award in 2002.
In 2002, he was featured in Eminem's debut film, 8 Mile, playing Papa Doc, a member of Leaders of the Free World. He was nominated for Best Supporting Actor at the 2009 Independent Spirit Awards for his role in The Hurt Locker. This is Mackie's second ISA nomination, the first coming for his work in 2003 in Brother to Brother, where he was nominated for Best Actor. Also in 2009, Mackie portrayed rapper Tupac Shakur in the film Notorious. He appears in the 2011 Matt Damon film The Adjustment Bureau where he plays Harry Mitchell, a sympathetic member of a shadowy supernatural group that controls human destiny.
Mackie was born in New Orleans, Louisiana, the son of Martha G. and Willie Mackie. He attended the New Orleans Center for Creative Arts (NOCCA) and graduated from the high school drama program at the North Carolina School of the Arts (NCSA) in 1997. He later graduated from the Juilliard School's Drama Division as a member of Group 30 (1997–2001), which also included actors Tracie Thoms and Lee Pace.

I absolutely love Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. I love the way Snyder grounded Superman in the real world, only finding his smile when he discovered who he really was. With director John Hillcoat’s (The Road, Lawless) Triple 9 opening this weekend, I recently sat down with Anthony Mackie for an extended video interview. During our wide ranging conversation he talked about working with the all-star cast, memorable moments from filming, making characters relatable to the audience, and more. In addition Mackie talked about playing Martin Luther King, Jr. in Jay Roach’s HBO movie All the Way, where his saying “cut the check” originated, Robert Downey Jr.’s amazing base camp set up on Captain America: Civil War and his first sit-down with the actor on set.
If you haven’t seen any of the trailers, scripted by Matt Cook, Triple 9 follows an interconnected web of thieves and corrupt officers who plan to murder a cop in order to draw attention away from the heist they’ll be pulling on the other side of town. And quite a competition it was, as the episode was jam-packed with Santa costumes, wigs and more perfectly-synchronized choreography than we ever thought possible.
The holiday-themed episode featured Joseph and Anthony battling it out, although Seth Rogen was simply just a prop in a Santa suit, he got quite the view during Joseph’s first round of Lip Sync serenading, as he warmed up the crowd (and even milked the cow) with “Yeah!” by Usher.
Anthony was up next as he took a stab at Katy Perry’s “I Kissed a Girl” and we have to say, we really liked it…
Getting a back-seat view at all the glory, Santa Seth replied after Anthony’s performance, QUOTE, “I think he got that little chunk of the stage pregnant. That was a sexually charged performance.” It obviously inspired Seth to get up and shake his money maker as the three Night Before stars performed a rendition of the classic Run-D.M.C. track, “Christmas in Hollis” during the battle’s half-time show.
But that was only the beginning… the battle got even more heated as it was once again Anthony’s turn to give it all, proving that he was, in fact, “2 Legit 2 Quit.”
He graced the stage in a white suit, channeling a few MC-Hammer-inspired moves, but eventually stripped down to a black spandex unitard, and of course, the judges had a field day poking fun at his, uhh, Christmas package. And to end it on a high note, Joseph KILLED Janet Jackson’s “Rhythm Nation”, forever earning him the title “Joseph Jackson.”
Decked out in a military uniform, dark wig and bright red lipstick, JGL was accompanied by an entire squad of dancers, and not only nailed every dance move, but seemed to know every single word to the song, earning him the Lip Sync holiday special championship belt at the end of the competition.

I absolutely love Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. I love the way Snyder grounded Superman in the real world, only finding his smile when he discovered who he really was. I loved the amazing, instantly iconic score by Hans Zimmer. I loved the opening scenes on Krypton, which felt like a real place and was everything the Green Lantern movie should have been. And I loved the entire cast, which was made up of great, eclectic actors who each brought their A-game. If Man of Steel is ever on cable or playing in the background, I’m hooked. It’s just one of those movies that has its teeth in me.
But as much as I love the movie, I know I’m not in the majority. Many people have issues with the film—especially the third act. Ever since the movie was in theaters, I feel like I've had to defend it again and again. Most of the time it’s a back and forth where each person tries to explain why they’re right and it’s pretty civil. However, I’ve had a few instances where the debate got pretty heated.
Which brings me to my interview with Anthony Mackie for director David Gordon Green’s political satire Our Brand is Crisis.
When I sat down with Mackie at the press junket, I decided to use my time to play “Save or Kill.” While most of the game was your normal back and forth, when I got to the DC or Marvel question, I figured he’d have a laugh since he plays Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and we’d move on. But that wasn’t the case. At all.

I absolutely love Zack Snyder’s Man of Steel. I love the way Snyder grounded Superman in the real world, only finding his smile when he discovered who he really was. I loved the amazing, instantly iconic score by Hans Zimmer. I loved the opening scenes on Krypton, which felt like a real place and was everything the Green Lantern movie should have been. And I loved the entire cast, which was made up of great, eclectic actors who each brought their A-game. If Man of Steel is ever on cable or playing in the background, I’m hooked. It’s just one of those movies that has its teeth in me.
But as much as I love the movie, I know I’m not in the majority. Many people have issues with the film—especially the third act. Ever since the movie was in theaters, I feel like I've had to defend it again and again. Most of the time it’s a back and forth where each person tries to explain why they’re right and it’s pretty civil. However, I’ve had a few instances where the debate got pretty heated.
Which brings me to my interview with Anthony Mackie for director David Gordon Green’s political satire Our Brand is Crisis.
When I sat down with Mackie at the press junket, I decided to use my time to play “Save or Kill.” While most of the game was your normal back and forth, when I got to the DC or Marvel question, I figured he’d have a laugh since he plays Falcon in the Marvel Cinematic Universe and we’d move on. But that wasn’t the case. At all.
As you’ll see in the video below, Mackie used the opportunity to take a swing at DC and while I love Marvel and Marvel movies, I wasn’t going to take anyone, even Falcon, badmouthing one of my favorite superhero movies.

In TRIPLE 9, a crew of dirty cops is blackmailed by the Russian mob to execute a virtually impossible heist. The only way to pull it off is to manufacture a 999, police code for "officer down". Their plan is turned upside down when the unsuspecting rookie they set up to die foils the attack, triggering a breakneck, action-packed finale filled with double-crosses, greed and revenge.
The cast includes Chiwetel Ejiofor, Casey Affleck, Kate Winslet, Woody Harrelson, Aaron Paul, Anthony Mackie, Norman Reedus, Gal Gadot and Clifton Collins Jr.

How did they get there? As we learn about their past, we begin to understand that to have a future, they need each other. There are more than 50,000 homeless people living on the streets and in the shelters of New York City. To most of us they are nameless and faceless, and occasionally a nuisance. But every single person has a story. And Hannah and Tahir are no different. And theirs is a story of loss, love, hope and redemption.

RESPECTABILITY POLITICS ARE SO STUPID.
This is exactly what I said in my Kendrick Lamar video, and now I find myself saying the same thing after a particularly offensive interview given recently by Black actor Anthony Mackie, where, among other things, he stated that he sat his nephew down to watch 'The First 48' after the boy expressed a desire to grow dreadlocks. This is a disgusting display of respectability politics and victim blaming, all of which revolve around the idea that, 'If you hadn't done x, then y wouldn't have happened.' If you didn't wear a short skirt, then you wouldn't have been raped. And if you weren't wearing a hoodie (or if you didn't have dreadlocks, according to Anthony Mackie) you wouldn't have been racially profiled. This leaves absolutely no accountability for racist, sexist systems that are in place and puts the full burden of responsibility onto the VICTIM. Instead of examining what led up to the rape or the racial profile, we just chalk it up to individual incidents.
I once saw a really great Janet Mock/bell hooks panel where Mock says that people do this as a defense mechanism because then they can feel 'safe.' If we're talking about individuals that did something wrong and 'brought this on themselves,' then we can feel safe because WE would never do that. RESPECTABILITY POLITICS ARE SO STUPID.
This is exactly what I said in my Kendrick Lamar video, and now I find myself saying the same thing after a particularly offensive interview given recently by Black actor Anthony Mackie, where, among other things, he stated that he sat his nephew down to watch 'The First 48' after the boy expressed a desire to grow dreadlocks. Mackie then went on to say, "…everybody you see on that show, that's doing something wrong, they're Black dudes with dreadlocks. So, do you want to be seen as part of the problem or do you want to be an individual?"
This is a disgusting display of respectability politics and victim blaming, all of which revolve around the idea that, 'If you hadn't done x, then y wouldn't have happened.' If you didn't wear a short skirt, then you wouldn't have been raped. And if you weren't wearing a hoodie (or if you didn't have dreadlocks, according to Anthony Mackie) you wouldn't have been racially profiled. This leaves absolutely no accountability for racist, sexist systems that are in place and puts the full burden of responsibility onto the VICTIM. Instead of examining what led up to the rape or the racial profile, we just chalk it up to individual incidents.
I once saw a really great Janet Mock/bell hooks panel where Mock says that people do this as a defense mechanism because then they can feel 'safe.' If we're talking about individuals that did something wrong and 'brought this on themselves,' then we can feel safe because WE would never do that. But if we're talking about oppressive systems that are in place then it can happen to ANYONE. And that's a scary feeling, I know, but we have to face reality.
