This movie opens with a shot of a desert dirt road with 2 rows of chairs up either side. A car winds and forth from side to side, knocking down every chair one by one. Then as it knocks the last chair down, the camera pans back to reveal Lieutenant Chad (Stephen Spinella) climbing out of the trunk. He turns to the camera and gives us a speech about the "most powerful element of style" of all the greatest motion pictures of all time, "No Reason". All these things happen for no reason. He begins by telling us this is a film for no reason. Then we are represented by an audience of people of all sizes, shapes, and ages, standing in the desert watching the action with binoculars. The film begins, as Robert, a tire, suddenly finds itself mobile and able to use psychic powers. He finds a motel, and a girl the tire takes a fancy to. He also finds that humans debase and misuse tires, for which he goes on a rampage killing humans by blowing up their heads.
Why is the movie about a killer tire? No reason. Why is there a whole group of people watching with binoculars? No reason. None of this has any reason.
And that's about it. I was somehow weirdly fascinated by this film about nothing, but it was a weird fascination, basically for no reason. This is one of the stupidest collections of scenes put on film with not one ounce of logic in it. There is absolutely no purpose for doing any of this. It makes no sense, has no ending, and just wanders through minute of minute of aimless silliness.
Truly, I expected a military chief to step out and stop the film saying, "Too silly, too silly," or some guy to appear sitting behind a desk in the nude saying, "And now for something completely different". And truly, no Monty Python's Flying Circus skit ever went as weirdly as this film does. Not even the flying sheep or the ministry of silly walks can't come close to the silliness of this movie.
This is like some experimental thing, film students making a tire move around itself for a project. But as I said when I started, I must admit that I was fascinated by the whole thing, and when it was over, I watched the first half hour again, just to see what I didn't understand the first time through. I thought there had to be something I had missed that made sense, but there was not. It just was made for no reason.

Originality isn't dead, it's just out of it's mind. This movie, about a telekinetic tire is the ultimate middle finger to mainstream cinema, and proves just that.

Rubber is a 2010 French comedy film about a tire that comes to life and kills people with its psychic powers. It was directed and written by Quentin Dupieux. The film was shown at the 2010 Cannes Film Festival.
A group of people in a California desert are gathered to watch a "film." A sheriff, Chad, points out that many moments in cinema happen for "no reason," that life is full of this "no reason," and that this film (both the "film" to be watched by the assembled group and presumably those watching Rubber) is a homage to "no reason."
An accountant then passes out binoculars to the group and rides off on a bicycle. The spectators then start looking through their binoculars into the distance, waiting for the "film" to start. Throughout the film, this group of people is returned to in order to gauge their reactions to what has taken place so far.
In the late 90's, somewhere in the California desert, a tire suddenly comes to life and embarks on a killing spree. At first, it learns how to stand upright and then how to roll. It comes across a plastic water bottle and after hesitating, crushes it. It then comes across a scorpion and crushes it. It then comes across a glass beer bottle but is unable to crush it by rolling over it. It then starts to vibrate intensely and psychokinetically causes the bottle to splinter. It then explodes a tin can, a rabbit, and a crow.

This movie opens with a shot of a desert dirt road with 2 rows of chairs up either side. A car winds and forth from side to side, knocking down every chair one by one. Then as it knocks the last chair down, the camera pans back to reveal Lieutenant Chad (Stephen Spinella) climbing out of the trunk. He turns to the camera and gives us a speech about the "most powerful element of style" of all the greatest motion pictures of all time, "No Reason". All these things happen for no reason. He begins by telling us this is a film for no reason. Then we are represented by an audience of people of all sizes, shapes, and ages, standing in the desert watching the action with binoculars. The film begins, as Robert, a tire, suddenly finds itself mobile and able to use psychic powers. He finds a motel, and a girl the tire takes a fancy to. He also finds that humans debase and misuse tires, for which he goes on a rampage killing humans by blowing up their heads.
Why is the movie about a killer tire? No reason. Why is there a whole group of people watching with binoculars? No reason. None of this has any reason.

And truly, no Monty Python's Flying Circus skit ever went as weirdly as this film does. Not even the flying sheep or the ministry of silly walks can't come close to the silliness of this movie.
This is like some experimental thing, film students making a tire move around itself for a project. But as I said when I started, I must admit that I was fascinated by the whole thing, and when it was over, I watched the first half hour again, just to see what I didn't understand the first time through. I thought there had to be something I had missed that made sense, but there was not. It just was made for no reason.

This movie opens with a shot of a desert dirt road with 2 rows of chairs up either side. A car winds and forth from side to side, knocking down every chair one by one. Then as it knocks the last chair down, the camera pans back to reveal Lieutenant Chad (Stephen Spinella) climbing out of the trunk. He turns to the camera and gives us a speech about the "most powerful element of style" of all the greatest motion pictures of all time, "No Reason". All these things happen for no reason. He begins by telling us this is a film for no reason. Then we are represented by an audience of people of all sizes, shapes, and ages, standing in the desert watching the action with binoculars. The film begins, as Robert, a tire, suddenly finds itself mobile and able to use psychic powers. He finds a motel, and a girl the tire takes a fancy to. He also finds that humans debase and misuse tires, for which he goes on a rampage killing humans by blowing up their heads.
Why is the movie about a killer tire? No reason. Why is there a whole group of people watching with binoculars? No reason. None of this has any reason.

When flown, the rubberband rapidly releases its energy by unwinding, which turns both the propeller blade and the paper cutout. 3. The paper cutout pushes against the surrounding air, which creates horizontal air resistance, or drag. This makes it harder for the cutout to spin. 2. When flown, the rubberband rapidly releases its energy by unwinding, which turns both the propeller blade and the paper cutout.
3. The paper cutout pushes against the surrounding air, which creates horizontal air resistance, or drag. This makes it harder for the cutout to spin. Because the cutout does not spin as easily, more energy from the rubberband is released into the propeller, which is much easier to turn. In this way, the paper acts like the rear rotor of a real helicopter
4. As the propeller spins rapidly, it begins to create lift by pushing air downward. With enough energy, the helicopter will fly in whatever direction it is pointing.

Families were held as hostages, starving to death if the men failed to produce enough wild rubber. Children's hands were chopped off as punishment for late deliveries.
The Belgian government has denounced this documentary as a "tendentious diatribe" for depicting King Leopold II as the moral forebear of Adolf Hitler, responsible for the death of 10 million people in his rapacious exploitation of the Congo.

A pitbull was raped and murdered in Thuston County, Washington last week. The animal was found hanging from a tree, with its feet just out of reach of the ground, on Department of Natural Resources land. A mountain biker came across the macabre scene while cycling through the property. The pitbull had clearly died of asphyxiation from whatever contraption its killer had constructed, reported Seattle Times ... This is horrific.”....
