I believe you have already watched my
Manali Travel Video Diary -
Day 1 -https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Iu4ZDoRQmuw&index;=38&list;=PLSzKbnydlhPJkeOfTMcakF3jsbFRUOnT2 & Day 2 - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KXwuF4Y_dEE&index;=41&list;=PLSzKbnydlhPJkeOfTMcakF3jsbFRUOnT2. If so, let me share with you my 3rd day adventure in Manali -
Rohtang trip of
Himanchal Pradesh. Before I start, let me tell you I had this trip in before beginning of summer, if you go in winter these all places are covered on thick snow. So decide yourself what kind of beauty you want to explore in your trip to Manali.

As you already knew, we had already booked taxi for going to Rohtang. We did not took our car because the road is in very bad condition so, we prefer not to destroy our car :P . And most of the tourist does same.
Major things we explored are :
1. Hiking,
Skiing &
Playing with
Snow
Our plan for morning was to leave as early as we can for Rohtang, but due to some security reasons and weather condition
Indian Army had restricted to go till Rohtang for playing snow and skiing, so we ended our plan at near Vyas kund. As you knew already in day 2 travel video, that there is very crowd good crowd of tourist about 4 - 5 thousand cars, mini trucks , taxi leaves for the trip everyday from Manali. So you must leave Manali as early as you can.
Taxi Booking
There are many reasons to book taxi over taking your own car to Rohtang or Vyas
Kund.
So, better try to book your taxi with Taxi
Association of Manali.
It's same price for everyone, so do not worry of getting ripped off in
Delhi. When we visited Manali in May of 2014, the price was
INR 1350 (Apx. 23 US$).
-
Leave your Manali before
6 AM not get stuck on traffic jam.
Renting -
Warm Clothes, Skiing
Tools
Since its snow mountains its going to be very cold, so better prepare yourself with very warm clothes. We were from Delhi suffering 46 C, thought it may not be that cold, but it was very freezing. We had to rent some clothes. If you want to ski , you can also rent them all in one package. But my suggestion, its not good place to learn or ski, if you are ski enthusiast then go to
Srinagar -
Gulmarg,
Jammu & Kashmir, one of the top 10 place to ski in the world during January to February.
On the way to Vyas kund or Rohtang, you will see so many clothers on highways. Get a good deal, there are many shops to rip you off. You will also get few old lady selling and renting for few hours at the base of snow mountain as well. We found them more cheaper compare to the shops.
Food at the fun
point is going to be very expensive so better pack your food at the last village you will see on the way, you will see many people buying food. Generally you will get
Indian Parantha,
Biscuits etc to buy, nothing else. That's what people generally demand, so that's what they serve during morning time.
Now you are all set to blast the fun, on the way you will see beautiful road with long trees, sometime horses on sides of road grazing.
Loud you taxi with music and have fun
.. or just start your feeling the way want to perceive the beauty of nature in the national highway to Leh.
2.
Solang Valley - Paragliding,
Cable Car, Sightseeing of
Mountains
This is one thing you should not miss in Manali whether you travel in summer or winter, really a beautiful place to hangout, specially in summer. This is the place where you will do paragliding, ball rolling, cable car riding etc.
There are 3 major paraglding based on distance which will cost you - INR
500(8.5$), INR
1000(17$) and INR
3500 (59$).
And then ball rolling game which will cost you 600 INR (10 $)
Another good thing of Solang Valley Manali is you can view the mountains from cable car. The basic ticket cost of cable car is INR 600 (10$) but more up you go it will cost you more.
3.
Nehru Kund
The first
Prime Minister of India Pundit Jawaharalal Nehru used to drink water from this natural spring of cold clear water This spring is believed to originate from the Bhrigu lake situated high-up in the mountains. It's in national highway to Leh, you will see it while returning back to Manali.
