Weather is the state of the atmosphere, to the degree that it is hot or cold, wet or dry, calm or stormy, clear or cloudy. Most weather phenomena occur in the troposphere, just below the stratosphere. Weather refers, generally, to day-to-day temperature and precipitation activity, whereas climate is the term for the average atmospheric conditions over longer periods of time. When used without qualification, "weather" is understood to be the weather of Earth.
Weather is driven by density (temperature and moisture) differences between one place and another. These differences can occur due to the sun angle at any particular spot, which varies by latitude from the tropics. The strong temperature contrast between polar and tropical air gives rise to the jet stream. Weather systems in the mid-latitudes, such as extratropical cyclones, are caused by instabilities of the jet stream flow. Because the Earth's axis is tilted relative to its orbital plane, sunlight is incident at different angles at different times of the year. On Earth's surface, temperatures usually range ±40 °C (100 °F to −40 °F) annually. Over thousands of years, changes in Earth's orbit affect the amount and distribution of solar energy received by the Earth and influence long-term climate and global climate change.

Hey everyone! I'm sorry that this channel has been pretty inactive lately. This year has been incredibly rough which made it difficult to animate. Family health issues, forest fires near parent's property, just lots of life stuff going on that I'm still recovering from...but things are gettting back to normal again.
I saw how long it was since my last upload and decided to spend a week creating this short. It's very simple in story and style. It's suppose to mimic a video game from dave's gameboy in a way which is why it looks a bit choppy. If you guys like it I could continue these in between the main shorts. If not then I'll go back to working on the main stuff haha
Also another reason uploads haven't been as frequent compared to a few years ago is because I've been taking up more projects outside the channel (plus with school this past year). But I'm doing my best to build up some more stuff for the channel (hopefully some original stuff!)
That's my update haha, I'm also about 80% done with another short like this which you might see in a week or so (depending if you guys want more stuff like this). Anyways, I hope you're all having a good year! Sorry again about things being so slow. I'll keep doing my best to get animations finished for the channel during these busy times. Thanks for sticking around and for all your support over the years! :)

Earth's lithosphere is divided into several rigid segments, or tectonic plates, that migrate across the surface over periods of many millions of years. Earth's poles are mostly covered with ice that is the solid ice of the Antarctic ice sheet and the sea ice that is the polar ice packs. The planet's interior remains active, with a solid iron inner core, a liquid outer core that generates the magnetic field, and a thick layer of relatively solid mantle.
Earth gravitationally interacts with other objects in space, especially the Sun and the Moon. During one orbit around the Sun, the Earth rotates about its own axis 366.26 times, creating 365.26 solar days, or one sidereal year. The Earth's axis of rotation is tilted 23.4° away from the perpendicular of its orbital plane, producing seasonal variations on the planet's surface with a period of one tropical year (365.24 solar days). The Moon is Earth's only natural satellite. It began orbiting the Earth about 4.53 billion years ago (bya). The Moon's gravitational interaction with Earth stimulates ocean tides, stabilizes the axial tilt, and gradually slows the planet's rotation.

The weather is a turbulent study of inconsistent predictions and volatile conditions that can take lives and destroy civilizations. How often have we been mad at the local weather person for incorrectly predicting the day’s conditions? The weather is unpredictable, and there are numerous variables that can change a forecast at the drop of a hat. From rain to snow, the weather dictates the course of our regular lives. Snow days prevent us from going to school and work. For example, the far north and far south are the coldest parts of the world, while places by the equator are some of the hottest.
Blame it on global warming or the evolution of our environment, but the weather seems to be getting stranger with each passing year. Here are some of the strangest weather occurrences that have happened throughout history. The weather is a turbulent study of inconsistent predictions and volatile conditions that can take lives and destroy civilizations. How often have we been mad at the local weather person for incorrectly predicting the day’s conditions? The weather is unpredictable, and there are numerous variables that can change a forecast at the drop of a hat. Mother Nature and environmental conditions caused by man all work together to create today’s weather. Hot and cold air can create terrifying tornadoes that wipe out entire towns, simple conditions can create hurricanes that turn oceans into vortexes.
From rain to snow, the weather dictates the course of our regular lives. Snow days prevent us from going to school and work. Rain can evolve and escalate into flooding and cause our greatest assets to float away. There are different parts around the world that are exposed to different levels of sunlight and makes the weather different all over the world. There is no one set stagnant weather condition. For example, the far north and far south are the coldest parts of the world, while places by the equator are some of the hottest.
Blame it on global warming or the evolution of our environment, but the weather seems to be getting stranger with each passing year. Here are some of the strangest weather occurrences that have happened throughout history. From snow in Southern California to hot conditions in Arctic cities, these occurrences are grim reminders that nothing is set in stone, not even the weather.

I can't believe it's been over one year since I last recorded a national feed LOT8s segment. Well, then again... I still don't have the Weather Channel in my channel lineup. Anyway, I went to Walt Disney World on Monday and stayed at a hotel overnight. The hotel unfortunately had one TV and I had to keep everyone in the room quiet for the LF. It was such a pain. Somehow, a phone notification went off while I was recording. The notification sound was muted and replaced with the production music heard in the LF. IIRC, Bright House Networks used to be the cable provider for hotels in Disney World. I was going to record a video of the channel lineup, but I literally had no time. Mar 15, 2016 Warm and dry weather expected
The weather was warm dry and sunny today with a high of 79 degrees after an overnight minimum of 47 degrees. This change to Daylight Savings Time really makes the early evenings seem warmer and the early mornings seem cooler. Tomorrow should be the warmest day of the week with highs in the low 80s after minimums in the low 50s. It will be gradually cooler through Friday then level off for the weekend with highs in the 70s. There is only a slight chance for rain next Monday with highs in the 60s but warmer by Tuesday. There is no March miracle which refers to a wet March following a dry winter and the outlook up to nearly the end of the month as shown in this video is for warmer and drier than average in this corner of the nation. I can't believe it's been over one year since I last recorded a national feed LOT8s segment. Well, then again... I still don't have the Weather Channel in my channel lineup. Anyway, I went to Walt Disney World on Monday and stayed at a hotel overnight. The hotel unfortunately had one TV and I had to keep everyone in the room quiet for the LF. It was such a pain. Somehow, a phone notification went off while I was recording. The notification sound was muted and replaced with the production music heard in the LF. IIRC, Bright House Networks used to be the cable provider for hotels in Disney World. I was going to record a video of the channel lineup, but I literally had no time. I left my hotel room about 5 minutes after this was recorded. I apologize for the glare. I couldn't use my TV tuner because the STB was hidden.

The weather was warm dry and sunny today with a high of 79 degrees after an overnight minimum of 47 degrees. This change to Daylight Savings Time really makes the early evenings seem warmer and the early mornings seem cooler. Tomorrow should be the warmest day of the week with highs in the low 80s after minimums in the low 50s. It will be gradually cooler through Friday then level off for the weekend with highs in the 70s. There is only a slight chance for rain next Monday with highs in the 60s but warmer by Tuesday. There is no March miracle which refers to a wet March following a dry winter and the outlook up to nearly the end of the month as shown in this video is for warmer and drier than average in this corner of the nation. It is embarrasing to what happened to our lack of rain in this hyped up El Nino season but I may put on a disguise with a fake nose and glasses and fake beard to disguise myself soon due to being ashamed of this El Nino weather which was predicted and became an El Nun-Oh.

The Weather Machine began as a solo outlet for singer-songwriter Slater Smith. When he met up with guitarist and collaborator Colin Robson at an open mic in 2012, the band was born. They recorded their debut self-titled record the next year and began steadily gigging as a five-piece. The music video for their lead single "Back O'er Oregon" was filmed in 185 State Parks in collaboration with GoPro Cameras and gave a noticeable exposure boost to the band.
They released their second LP, "Peach," in 2015, taking a side-step from their former quirky, baroque-rock style to write more along the indie rock vein. "Peach" has a variety of styles: the eponymous single features electronic beats while "Wannabe Cowboys" and "Breakup Song" are acoustic-led, sorta-country.
No matter what the genre, The Weather Machine has a distinct lyrical bend. Slater's Smith's casual, fatherly baritone swoons over mellow guitar chords and waves of cello noise as it tells tales of friendship, temptation, and love. They're still evolving and solidifying their sound, and it's a process worth watching.

Weather Report are captured live at the Montreux Jazz Festival in 1976 in this made for Swiss TV video recording. Sound and image quality (full stereo, full colour) is exemplary.
Jaco Pastorius had been in the bass slot just a few months but harnessing his great potential had already led to the replacement of drummer Chester Thompson with Alex Acuña (who had been playing percussion) and the introduction of Manolo Badrena (joining in the vacant percussion slot). As Joe Zawinul recalled: "As great a drummer as Chester was, he and Jaco didn't flow. Jaco was more of an upbeat player - more driving...... We had Alex Acuña move over to the drums and then Badrena came in. All of a sudden we had some smokin' stuff again."
Most of the material performed is from the "Black Market" album from earlier that year which had marked Jaco Pastorius' first recording in the band. Only "Scarlet Woman" (from "Mysterious Traveller"), "Badia (from "Tale Spinnin'") and the medley "Dr Honoris Causa / Directions" are from elsewhere - although there is a long and involving drum duet between Alex Acuña and Manolo Badrena that would appear again in shortened form as "Rumba Mama" on "Heavy Weather" and a riveting improvised piano/ soprano sax duet between Joe Zawinul and Wayne Shorter that is one of the highlights of the concert. Jaco Pastorius contributes an early version his bass solo "Portrait Of Tracy".
The full synergy and interplay between long term members (and band founders) Joe Zawinul and Wayne Shorter and the new dynamic introduced by Jaco Pastorius that emerged fully on "Heavy Weather" and "Night Passage" is a work in progress here but is nearing completion. Jaco Pastorious is so "unquestionably the Charlie Parker of electric bass", as Christian McBride has said. He has that effortless flow and mastery of his instrument that is given to the very few. You can sense the breath of fresh air that he is blowing through the Weather Report concept. This concert captures this, as it is happening.
Wayne Shorter's playing gives the lie to the claim that he had 'disappeared' as 'Mr Gone' under Joe Zawinul's dominating influence; his playing on these extended pieces is creative and inspiring, noting however that this is within the communal Weather Report ethos in which egoistical soloing is essentially alien. Wayne Shorter's almost minimalist patience and perception in music, still in evidence in his concerts today, should never be misconstrued as lack of involvement.
And of course, Joe Zawinul, perched behind his bank of keyboards, is nearing his creative peak, conducting the band with his eyes. What this concert shows is the importance of his Fender Rhodes playing, learned from the work with Miles Davis. Balanced against bass, drums and saxophone, it is one of the signature sounds of jazz, as is being rediscovered by so many musicians today.
Overall, a very fine documenting of one of the great bands in jazz approaching its peak. Essential viewing and listening.
