Brampton
Brampton (/ˈbræmptən/ or /ˈbræmtən/) is a Canadian city in Southern Ontario. It is a suburban city in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and the seat of Peel Region. The city has a population of 523,911 as of the Canada 2011 Census, and is Canada's ninth-most populous municipality.
Brampton was incorporated as a village in 1853, taking its name from the market town of Brampton, in Cumbria, England. The city was once known as The Flower Town of Canada, a title based on its large greenhouse industry. Today, Brampton's major economic sectors include advanced manufacturing, retail administration and logistics, information and communication technologies, food and beverage, life sciences and business services.
History
Prior to the 1800s, all real business in Chinguacousy Township took place at Martin Salisbury's tavern. One mile distant at the corner of Main and Queen streets, now the recognised centre of Brampton, William Buffy's tavern was the only significant building. At the time, the area was referred to as "Buffy's Corners". By 1834, John Elliott laid out the area in lots for sale, calling it "Brampton", which was soon adopted by others.

Brampton (electoral district)
Brampton was a federal electoral district in Ontario, Canada, that was represented in the Canadian House of Commons from 1988 to 1997. This riding was created in 1987, from Brampton—Georgetown riding, and was abolished in 1996, when it was redistributed between Brampton Centre and Brampton West—Mississauga ridings.
It consisted of that part of the City of Brampton lying west of Dixie Road.
It was briefly a riding represented in the Ontario Legislative Assembly from 1975 to 1985. It was represented by Premier Bill Davis.

Brampton (Chestertown, Maryland)
Brampton is a historic home located at Chestertown, Kent County, Maryland. It is a transitional Greek Revival / Italianate-influenced dwelling built about 1860. The main section of the house is a three story structure, constructed of brick with a symmetrical five-bay-wide facade and a depth of two bays. A two story frame wing extends from the rear.
It was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1983.

Places to see in ( Brampton - UK ) Brampton is a small market town, civil parish and electoral ward within the City of Carlisle district of Cumbria, England, about 9 miles east of Carlisle and 2 miles south of Hadrian's Wall. Historically part of Cumberland, it is situated off the A69 road which bypasses it. Brampton is a small market town, civil parish and electoral ward within the City of Carlisle district of Cumbria, England, about 9 miles east of Carlisle and 2 miles south of Hadrian's Wall. Historically part of Cumberland, it is situated off the A69 road which bypasses it. Brampton railway station, on the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway, is about a mile outside the town, near the hamlet of Milton.
St Martin's Church is famous as the only church designed by the Pre-Raphaelite architect Philip Webb, and contains one of the most exquisite sets of stained glass windows designed by Sir Edward Burne-Jones, and executed in the William Morris studio. Brampton was granted a Market Charter in 1252 by King Henry III, and became a market town as a result.
William Howard School was host to "Brampton Live" every summer, an ever-growing music festival that, since its first appearance in 1995, become the largest folk/roots/world music festival in the North of England. Major artists have included the Levellers, the Waterboys, Egudo Embako, Richard Thompson, Suzanne Vega, Loudon Wainwright III, Altan, Tommy Emmanuel, Seth Lakeman and many others. The last "Brampton Live" took place in 2009 and has been, to a certain extent, replaced in 2012 by the "Stepping Stones Festival" organised by Maddy Prior (of Steeleye Span) held in early May at the Brampton Community Centre.
Brampton and Beyond Community Trust is a community-based development trust serving Brampton and the surrounding area in north east Cumbria. The Trust became a registered company and a registered charity in July 2010. The Trust aims to provide accessible, affordable and responsive services for local people and seeks to be self-financing. In 2011, the Brampton and Beyond Community Trust formally took over the assets of Brampton Community Association together with responsibility for the operation of the Brampton Community Centre.

Peel Regional Police continue to monitor the area of a Hindu temple in Brampton after ordering demonstrators to disperse late last night over "unlawful assembly."
This stemmed from a violent clash that broke out outside the temple on Sunday, where one group calling for an independent state in India appeared to face off with another group carrying the India flag.
On Tuesday, several Canadian ministers addressed the violence over the past few days, calling for de-escalation and calm within the community.
"Everyone has a right to peacefully protest... but it should not cross the line into hate, intimidation and acts of violence that we saw. And I think what happened in Brampton yesterday was absolutely unacceptable," Minister of Diversity and Inclusion Khera said.
"Iit has to be the case that no place of worship is desecrated, let alone violently invaded, where people are prevented from practicing their religion in peace," Minister of Transport Anita Anand added.

Brampton
Brampton (/ˈbræmptən/ or /ˈbræmtən/) is a Canadian city in Southern Ontario. It is a suburban city in the Greater Toronto Area (GTA) and the seat of Peel Region. The city has a population of 523,911 as of the Canada 2011 Census, and is Canada's ninth-most populous municipality.
Brampton was incorporated as a village in 1853, taking its name from the market town of Brampton, in Cumbria, England. The city was once known as The Flower Town of Canada, a title based on its large greenhouse industry. Today, Brampton's major economic sectors include advanced manufacturing, retail administration and logistics, information and communication technologies, food and beverage, life sciences and business services.
History
Prior to the 1800s, all real business in Chinguacousy Township took place at Martin Salisbury's tavern. One mile distant at the corner of Main and Queen streets, now the recognised centre of Brampton, William Buffy's tavern was the only significant building. At the time, the area was referred to as "Buffy's Corners". By 1834, John Elliott laid out the area in lots for sale, calling it "Brampton", which was soon adopted by others.

Because of large differences in the size of Canada's federal electoral districts, many Canadians are under-represented in the House of Commons. Under-represented Canadians are increasingly suburban and new Canadian.
Every 10 years (after each full census) federal boundaries commissions redraw the electoral districts to reflect changes in the population. This process is happening now and the boundaries commissions in each province are seeking public input.
Mowat Centre recently hosted a free webinar to consider these issues. Brampton is a small market town, civil parish and electoral ward within the City of Carlisle district of Cumbria, England, about 9 miles east of Carlisle and 2 miles south of Hadrian's Wall. Historically part of Cumberland, it is situated off the A69 road which bypasses it. Brampton railway station, on the Newcastle and Carlisle Railway, is about a mile outside the town, near the hamlet of Milton.
St Martin's Church is famous as the only church designed by the Pre-Raphaelite architect Philip Webb, and contains one of the most exquisite sets of stained glass windows designed by Sir Edward Burne-Jones, and executed in the William Morris studio. Brampton was granted a Market Charter in 1252 by King Henry III, and became a market town as a result.
William Howard School was host to "Brampton Live" every summer, an ever-growing music festival that, since its first appearance in 1995, become the largest folk/roots/world music festival in the North of England. Major artists have included the Levellers, the Waterboys, Egudo Embako, Richard Thompson, Suzanne Vega, Loudon Wainwright III, Altan, Tommy Emmanuel, Seth Lakeman and many others. The last "Brampton Live" took place in 2009 and has been, to a certain extent, replaced in 2012 by the "Stepping Stones Festival" organised by Maddy Prior (of Steeleye Span) held in early May at the Brampton Community Centre.
Brampton and Beyond Community Trust is a community-based development trust serving Brampton and the surrounding area in north east Cumbria. The Trust became a registered company and a registered charity in July 2010. The Trust aims to provide accessible, affordable and responsive services for local people and seeks to be self-financing. In 2011, the Brampton and Beyond Community Trust formally took over the assets of Brampton Community Association together with responsibility for the operation of the Brampton Community Centre.
