Ankle Rehab
As someone who has engaged in exercise and athletic activity for most of my life, I've put quite a few miles on my feet. I'm sure I'm not alone when saying that decades of pounding and abuse have added up to more than a few ankle injuries. The same mantra I'm given by doctors and physical therapists is 'make sure you continue to do your exercises.’
However, what normally happens is people give it a day or two, the ankle feels a bit better, so they don’t continue with their rehab. As we grow older, and the ankles don't recover as quickly as they used to, it’s important to realize now the absolute importance of actually performing those rehab exercises. Chronic discomfort and stiffness in the ankle can certainly be alleviated (nearly eliminated) by following a regular schedule of ankle strengthening activities.
Not only will strength and balance return, but flexibility will also begin to improve. The crux is this: strengthening exercises for the ankle joints are not just for injury recovery. Make the exercise routine listed below a part of a regular schedule -- maybe every morning while watching the news, maybe every night before bed, maybe both! The point is to always make sure the ankles are at their strongest, their most balanced, and most flexible. Doing so will prevent most issues that lead to injury.

Francis Martin Patrick "Frankie" Boyle (born 16 August 1972) is a Scottish comedian and writer, well known for his pessimistic, often controversial sense of humour. He was a permanent panellist on Mock the Week for seven series and has made guest appearances on several popular panel shows including Have I Got News for You, 8 Out of 10 Cats, Would I Lie to You?, You Have Been Watching, Never Mind the Buzzcocks (as guest host and team captain when Phill Jupitus was unavailable for recording) and Argumental, as well as writing for Jimmy Carr's show Distraction and Sean Lock's TV Heaven, Telly Hell.
Boyle was born and brought up in Glasgow. After leaving school he attended Aston University for a year before leaving and starting a BA in English at the University of Sussex. Whilst doing a teacher-training course in Edinburgh at the age of 23, he began doing stand-up routines. He got his big break after performing at The Stand Comedy Club in Edinburgh, a venue that has also helped launch the careers of Stewart Lee, Johnny Vegas, Dara Ó Briain and Michael McIntyre.

As someone who has engaged in exercise and athletic activity for most of my life, I've put quite a few miles on my feet. I'm sure I'm not alone when saying that decades of pounding and abuse have added up to more than a few ankle injuries. The same mantra I'm given by doctors and physical therapists is 'make sure you continue to do your exercises.’
However, what normally happens is people give it a day or two, the ankle feels a bit better, so they don’t continue with their rehab. As we grow older, and the ankles don't recover as quickly as they used to, it’s important to realize now the absolute importance of actually performing those rehab exercises. Chronic discomfort and stiffness in the ankle can certainly be alleviated (nearly eliminated) by following a regular schedule of ankle strengthening activities.
Not only will strength and balance return, but flexibility will also begin to improve. The crux is this: strengthening exercises for the ankle joints are not just for injury recovery. Make the exercise routine listed below a part of a regular schedule -- maybe every morning while watching the news, maybe every night before bed, maybe both! There is also a fully equipped exercise center that our patients are encouraged to use on a daily basis. We believe that, when a person feels healthier physically, they are better able to concentrate on their recovery program.

Ihr Besitzer hat sie von der Straße aufgenommen, er wurde dann aber krank und wurde fern von seinem Zuhause gepflegt, später ist er dann leider auch verstorben… Deshalb lebten sie seit Jahren alleine in dem riesigen Kennel. Die Menschen aus der Nachbarschaft haben sie gefüttert, keiner konnte sich aber um sie kümmern oder zu sich nehmen. So wurden völlig verwildert. Sie lebten wie die Wölfe, in Aushöhlungen in der Erde, mitten eines großen Busches. Letztlich hat sich eine Familie, die sie gefüttert hatte, am uns, dass wir ihnen helfen.
Schon das Einfangen war keine einfache Aufgabe, es hat aber nach großen Schwierigkeiten geklappt. So wurde sie Mitbewohner unserer Kennelreihe in Tárnok. Jetzt läuft ihre (vermutlich sehr langwierige) Rehabilitation.
Dawn ist eine mittelgroße, schwarze Mischlingshündin, sie wurde ca. 2007 geboren.
Sie nimmt bereits den Belohnungshappen aus der Hand weg, im Kennel kann sie gestreichelt werden, wir können sie bereits für einige Zeit in den Auslauf mitnehmen, damit sie sich etwas bewegt. Man muss aber vorsichtig mit ihr sein, denn sie murrt ab und zu noch, sie erträgt die Hundeleine und das Halsband nur schwer.

In recent news here in Julie's world, Daniel has started going back to a rehabilitation therapy program, they focus on neurological rehab, and they have great equipment. The owner is a great guy, and a good friend, and one of the most knowledgeable guys I know in regards to therapy and the brain. Why? Why bring Daniel here? Because they are incredible, and they are helping him develop strength in order "re learn" how to take steps. Daniel "used" to walk in a very specialized walker. Then he had two hip surgeries, a femur break, and spinal surgery. Along with that were numerous hospital admissions for illnesses. So his "gait" ability is poor now. His right leg has developed a contracture and its a big concern... -

Life rolls on doesn't it? In recent news here in Julie's world, Daniel has started going back to a rehabilitation therapy program, they focus on neurological rehab, and they have great equipment. The owner is a great guy, and a good friend, and one of the most knowledgeable guys I know in regards to therapy and the brain.
Why? Why bring Daniel here? Because they are incredible, and they are helping him develop strength in order "re learn" how to take steps. Daniel "used" to walk in a very specialized walker. Then he had two hip surgeries, a femur break, and spinal surgery. Along with that were numerous hospital admissions for illnesses. So his "gait" ability is poor now. His right leg has developed a contracture and its a big concern.
As you will see in the video, they aggressively stretch him, and help him facilitate standing on his own. Then he goes up into a Light Gait, which is a harness that securely lifts him up and holds him in place so he can go to a treadmill and work on weight bearing and stretching.
We would never have stopped this therapy, but our insurance isn't covered there. So as a private pay it was just way too expensive. Recently, a private local foundation agreed to fund 3 months of therapy for Daniel. Which is totally amazing.
I have found along this journey, that the best programs, the best equipment, and the most hope for your child come from things that ARE NOT covered by insurance. The costs are astronomical. But you have to keep fighting.

My middle son, Daniel John Hasselberger was born on November 22, 1997, with a rare brain deformity called Polymicrogyria. The deformity happened due to a virus called CMV, or cytomegalovirus. He has seizures, respiratory problems, can only eat by g tube, is in a wheelchair, can not speak, and has had countless surgeries and hospitalizations over his 17 years. We are a family of 5 from Sandy Hook, CT and this is our journey.
Every day is full of new things that we don’t expect. I am Julie, Daniel’s Mom. I left my full time career as an HR Director 11 years ago because Daniel needed me. The struggle, the sacrifices, the sibling love, and miracle after miracle.
Why did I create this channel? For support, to help other families dealing with the same diagnosis, to help me cope with depression and isolation, etc. Please leave comments and help us grow and develop this channel. Life is incredible, and I want to share our story.

Every day is full of new things that we don’t expect. I am Julie, Daniel’s Mom. I left my full time career as an HR Director 11 years ago because Daniel needed me. The struggle, the sacrifices, the sibling love, and miracle after miracle.

ASMR stands for Autonomous Sensory Meridian Response and is the current (non-scientific) name given to the feeling characterized as a pleasurable tingling sensation felt in the head, scalp, back and other regions of the body in response to visual, auditory, tactile, olfactory, and/or cognitive stimuli, such as crinkling bags, hand movements, whispering and personal attention.

The Salvation Army's Adult Rehabilitation Centers provide spiritual, social and emotional assistance for men and women who have lost the ability to cope with their problems and provide for themselves.
Each center offers residential housing, work, and group and individual therapy, all in a clean, wholesome environment. The physical and spiritual care that program participants receive prepares them to re-enter society and return to gainful employment. Many of those who have been rehabilitated are reunited with their families and resume a normal life.
Each center is funded mainly through in-kind donations from the public including clothing, household items, furniture, and appliances and are self-sustaining thanks to that support. For more information please visit Anaheim.SAtruck.org Or for the nearest ARC visit www.SAtruck.org

The animal was found hanging from a tree, with its feet just out of reach of the ground, on Department of Natural Resources land.
