Living Room Clutter Rock Band 4 and
Guitar Hero Live Podcast
Weekly news recap of all the Guitar Hero Live and Rock Band 4
News
My thoughts on this week's
Zac Brown Band Rock Band 4
DLC featuring
Chicken Fried,
Homegrown and the
Wind.
"There’s only one February artist left from the list we got at the beginning of the month: Zac Brown Band. It should seem very obvious that we’re going to be getting a pack of their songs this week, barring any surprise announcements, of course.
All that remains to be seen is what songs we’re going to be getting.
Zac Brown Band – Chicken Fried
Zac Brown Band – Homegrown
Zac Brown Band –
The Wind
All songs are $1.99. Zac Brown Band
Pack 01 will be available for $5.49." - RockBandAide

A new week of DLC, and with Motorhead, Five Finger Death Punch, Royal Blood, and The Zac Brown Band left to go this month, it’s time to see who gets the pack and who gets
singles this month. Motorhead has the classic status, Royal Blood and
FFDP have the modern chart-toppers,
ZBB has cross-chart success and
Chris Cornell/
Dave Grohl! Who do we think it is this week?
Five Finger Death Punch –
Got Your Six
Motorhead –
Thunder & Lightning
Royal Blood –
Figure It Out
"Both Guitar Hero Live and Rock Band 4 have failed to live up to expectations following their respective launches late last year, with both GH publisher Activision and
Rock Band publisher Mad
Catz reporting a relatively poor performance for both games. In fact, Mad Catz has had to lay off 37% of its workforce following Rock Band 4's failure to sell as well as it had hoped.
Activision, meanwhile noted in a financial call last night that Guitar Hero Live delivered "lower than expected performance", while Mad Catz also stated that "sell-through was lower than originally forecast" for Rock Band 4. In layman's terms that means both games didn't sell all that well.
No doubt both publishers will disappointed having put both games (and by extension the whole periperhal-based music game genre) on hiatus since
2011.
Each game had its own set of issues that could have contributed to their poor performance at retail. Rock Band 4 arguably played it safe with a similar experience to what had gone before, whereas Guitar Hero Live opted for live-action audiences and a first-person perspective. Where Rock Band 4 has backwards compatible songs and peripherals,
Guitar Hero did not. That said,
PS4 users in
SCEE territories are still waiting on
RB4's
Legacy content.
And while Activision says it won't be releasing another Guitar Hero game this generation or "cycle" in Acti boss
Eric Hirshberg's words, the publisher will continue to support
Freestyle's game throughout its lifespan on Xbox One and PS4.
"Guitar Hero Live is a fun, high-quality game that introduced innovative new game play to fans, including the
GHTV platform, which keeps our community engaged and will allow us to cost-effectively deliver new content and build our installed base," said Hirshberg
. "We plan to release new content, but not another full Guitar Hero console game this cycle."
FreeStyle
Games has been supporting Guitar Hero Live and its streaming service GHTV since launch, with new
Premium Shows and songs, the latest of which are
Valentine's Day-themed. Harmonix has also been rolling out new songs for Rock Band 4 on a regular basis." -
