Elizabeth I (7 September 1533 – 24 March 1603) was queen regnant of England and Ireland from 17 November 1558 until her death. Sometimes called The Virgin Queen, Gloriana, or Good Queen Bess, Elizabeth was the fifth and last monarch of the Tudor dynasty. The daughter of Henry VIII, she was born a princess, but her mother, Anne Boleyn, was executed two and a half years after her birth, and Elizabeth was declared illegitimate. Her half-brother, Edward VI, bequeathed the crown to Lady Jane Grey, cutting his half-sisters out of the succession in contradiction to statute law. His will was set aside, Lady Jane Grey was executed, and in 1558 Elizabeth succeeded the Catholic Mary I, during whose reign she had been imprisoned for nearly a year on suspicion of supporting Protestant rebels.
Elizabeth set out to rule by good counsel, and she depended heavily on a group of trusted advisers led by William Cecil, Baron Burghley. One of her first moves as queen was the establishment of an English Protestant church, of which she became the Supreme Governor. This Elizabethan Religious Settlement later evolved into today's Church of England. It was expected that Elizabeth would marry and produce an heir so as to continue the Tudor line. She never did, however, despite numerous courtships. As she grew older, Elizabeth became famous for her virginity, and a cult grew up around her which was celebrated in the portraits, pageants, and literature of the day.

Elizabeth I is the last monarch of the Tudor dynasty and probably the most famous of all British sovereign. She found a weakened kingdom, divided over religious issues and threatened to lose its independance, and left a pacified and much more prosperous country to her successor James I. Her 44 years-long reign, sometimes called the elizabethan era, is considered to be a golden age for England. I also tell you a bit in this video about other famous characters such as Mary I ("Bloody Mary") or Mary Stuart.
I hope you find her life and achievements as impressive and interesting as I do!

The Toilet: A Stinky History - Ancient Rome to Medieval England - Laughing Historically
Time for the real Game of Thrones... its "The Toilet: The Stinky History," where we walk you through an invention you have probably used more than your iPhone, unless you also use your iPhone on it. How did people poop in ancient rome and medieval England, and where did it all go? The answers will disturb you.

It is a truth universally acknowledged, that everybody
In history
pooped.
In ancient times, the Romans built public underground sewer systems, which not only carried waste, but also drinking water,
so It paid to be up stream.
The romans used large, divider-free public restrooms - some with up to 50 toilets. Many people read prayers and protection spells to keep them safe from demons, rats biting their bums, or open flames that could flare up from methane pockets.
In the middle ages, where you pooped largely depended on your class. Lower class people pooped in chamber pots - aka jerry, guzunder, a po, thunder pot… If you were really poor, a bucket.
In medieval London it was illegal to empty these out the window (not that that stopped many people). Most people carried their full chamber pots to a nearby stream or river and emptied it there.
Larger houses had attached latrines which drained into cess-pits which were emptied by men called “gongfermours” or “gong farmers.” who would then carry the waste to the streams and rivers. The Gong Farmers of London would end their shift bathing in the River Thames, which was probably only slightly cleaner than themselves - at least they were well-paid.
For the top of the Pooping-ladder, Castles featured rooms called Garderobes, which had literally a seat with a hole to the outside cut into it. Poop would drop right into the castle moat. When the tide was low, it would pile up above the water until it was flushed away into the river.
Which was also drinking water.
The word garderobe is french for Wardrobe. People would hang their clothes in these rooms, as the fleas and moths didn’t like the smell.
There was a job called “The Groom of the King’s Stool,” whose job was to wipe the king’s bum when he was finished pooping. Naturally, this was a job of honor and only princes or boys of royalty were allowed to do it.
With all this poop being throw around, you can imagine the smell literally everywhere. If you can’t, think about this, Archaeologists have found medieval poop and it still stinks to this day. This past year they even found several 700 year old barrels unearthed in Denmark in the Werner’s Square. Boy, do we stink Brandon.
Finally, in 1596, a man named John Harrington, who was actually an English poet, invented a flushing toilet for Queen Elizabeth the first. But it was so loud it scared her from using it. It did, however, become popular to call this new invention after it’s creator, John.
By the 1850s over 400,000 tonnes of sewage were flushed into the River Thames each day - around 150 million tonnes of poo a year.
Eventually, in the 1880’s, a man came along who invented the ballcock and many other patents, which helped silence the scary flushing toilet, leading to its widespread adoption… his name?
Thomas Crapper.
FUN FACT:
The US Navy has developed a way to vaporize on their vessels. The technology has been installed on their newest aircraft carrier the Gerald Ford Aircarft Carrier because he was a real stinky President.

In which John Green teaches you about the Holy Roman Empire by teaching you about Charles V. Charles Hapsburg was the holy Roman Emperor, but he was also the King of Spain. And the King of Germany. And the King of Italy and the Lord of the Netherlands and Count Palatine of Burgundy. In short, Charles was runnin' thangs in much of the world during his reign. Charles ruled a lot of countries, and he was also known for encouraging intellectual discourse and he even spoke out against slavery, in a limited. So why did he consider himself a failure, and why did he break up the Empire when he abdicated in 1556? Mainly because the Holy Roman Empire didn't work very well. It was huge, and it didn't have any means of directly raising taxes. Plus, it was a pretty crazy time in Europe anyway, and Charles found himself in charge of the Catholic-Church-Endorsed Empire in the time of Martin Luther and the Protestant Reformation. John will teach you a bit about how Charles put the Empire together, and how it fell apart, and even talk a bit about the Diet of Worms.
This episode was written by Neal Schulz, but we messed up the onscreen credits. Thanks, and great work, Neal.

Elizabeth I (7 September 1533 – 24 March 1603) was Queen of England and Ireland from 17 November 1558 until her death. Sometimes called The Virgin Queen, Gloriana or Good Queen Bess, the childless Elizabeth was the fifth and last monarch of the Tudor dynasty.
Elizabeth was the daughter of Henry VIII by second wife, Anne Boleyn, who was executed two and a half years after Elizabeth's birth. Anne's marriage to Henry VIII was annulled, and Elizabeth was declared illegitimate. Her half-brother, Edward VI, ruled until his death in 1553, bequeathing the crown to Lady Jane Grey and ignoring the claims of his two half-sisters, Elizabeth and the Roman Catholic Mary, in spite of statute law to the contrary. However, Edward's will was set aside and Mary became queen, deposing Lady Jane Grey. During Mary's reign, Elizabeth was imprisoned for nearly a year on suspicion of supporting Protestant rebels.
In 1558, Elizabeth succeeded her half-sister to the throne, and she set out to rule by good counsel.[1] She depended heavily on a group of trusted advisers, led by William Cecil, Baron Burghley. One of her first actions as queen was the establishment of an English Protestant church, of which she became the Supreme Governor. This Elizabethan Religious Settlement later evolved into today's Church of England. It was expected that Elizabeth would marry and produce an heir to continue the Tudor line. She never did, despite numerous courtships. As she grew older, Elizabeth became famous for her virginity. A cult grew up around her which was celebrated in the portraits, pageants, and literature of the day.
In government, Elizabeth was more moderate than her father and half-siblings had been.[2] One of her mottoes was "video et taceo" ("I see, and say nothing").[3] In religion she was relatively tolerant, avoiding systematic persecution. After 1570, when the pope declared her illegitimate and released her subjects from obedience to her, several conspiracies threatened her life. All plots were defeated, however, with the help of her ministers' secret service. Elizabeth was cautious in foreign affairs, manoeuvring between the major powers of France and Spain. She only half-heartedly supported a number of ineffective, poorly-resourced military campaigns in the Netherlands, France, and Ireland. However, by the mid-1580s, war with Spain could no longer be avoided. When Spain finally decided to attempt to conquer England in 1588, the failure of the Spanish Armada associated her with one of the greatest military victories in English history.
Elizabeth's reign is known as the Elizabethan era. The period is famous for the flourishing of English drama, led by playwrights such as William Shakespeare and Christopher Marlowe, and for the seafaring prowess of English adventurers such as Francis Drake. Some historians are more reserved in their assessment. They depict Elizabeth as a short-tempered, sometimes indecisive ruler,[4] who enjoyed more than her share of luck. Towards the end of her reign, a series of economic and military problems weakened her popularity. Elizabeth is acknowledged as a charismatic performer and a dogged survivor in an era when government was ramshackle and limited, and when monarchs in neighbouring countries faced internal problems that jeopardised their thrones. Such was the case with Elizabeth's rival, Mary, Queen of Scots, whom she imprisoned in 1568 and eventually had executed in 1587. After the short reigns of Elizabeth's half-siblings, her 44 years on the throne provided welcome stability for the kingdom and helped forge a sense of national identity.[2]

St. Edmund Gennings, Elizabethan priest and Martyr, arrested and executed by order of Queen Elizabeth I after ministering to the persecuted Christians of England in the 1580's/1590's, full short biographical film, useful for classrooms and parishes.
Saint Edmund Gennings is one of the lesser known of the Martyrs of England yet the account of his life and mission as a hunted young priest in Elizabethan England is worthy of note and interest. This film takes the biographical information that is available on Saint Edmund Gennings and presents it in a 30 minute film using a detailed and clear narrative, devotional and historical paintings, artwork, maps, footage of nature, historical houses and events and simple costumed imagery. Saint Edmund Gennings is linked to many other English Martyrs. He is particularly remembered for his execution outside the home of Saint Swithun Wells after having been captured and tortured for celebrating the outlawed Catholic Mass. In this production the historical documents and biographical accounts available on Saint Edmund Gennings have been represented into a narrative of his own words. This Martyr is particularly noted for his love of the Mass and the English people. This is a creative and simplified way to learn the life and spirituality of one of the Forty Martyrs of England and Wales with visual aids to help the narrative flow well.
What you will hear:
The life of Saint Edmund Gennings in a simple, detailed, factual and devotional narrative told from his own point of view. Saint Edmund Gennings will tell you his story. Original music to accompany the narrative.
What you will see:
Historical paintings, maps, symbolic artwork, devotional imagery and portraitures; footage of nature, historical houses and items to aid the Elizabethan style and era; simplified costumed visuals of St. Edmund Gennings, Richard Topcliffe, recusant Catholics, fellow Martyrs and more presented with simple settings and locations to aid the narrative. This film includes locations such as Little Woodham Village in Gosport and The Weald and Downland Open Air Museum near Chichester.
Length:
The film runs for thirty minutes.
Target Audience:
The film is suitable for all ages, aimed mainly at Catholics with an understanding of the Faith and an appreciation for the spiritual life. The film has proven excellent for use in parishes and classrooms with very positive feedback.

Elizabeth II a fraud? | Interview with Greg Hallett | Proxy To The Throne Of England
Greg Hallett born 15 September 1961 in Wellsford is an essayist and theorist REALITY of New Zealand.
Hallett has built his work around a denunciation of the British monarchy as hawkish agent of world domination.
Greg Hallett claimed to be adopted by the True Royal family of England, and was elevated to Lord Chancellor to speak on their behalf.
“I am acting as Proxy, as stand-in for the True Monarch and the True Prince of Wales.”
Posted on TheWorldOfTruth.net, Greg Hallett makes the extraordinary statement:
“The British Royal Family is actually a fake – it’s a fraud. It’s Flat Lie Royal. It’s been an illegitimate non-Royal Family since at least 1901/1902, but really it’s been an illegitimate Flat Lie Royal, non-Royal Family since 1852.”
Contending that Queen Victoria had a firstborn son before King Edward VII and that son, whose name is “Marcos Manoel”, was born in wedlock legitimately, and that he is the True King of England, and his descendants are the True King of England – the true Monarchs of England: Greg effectively made a superior claim to the English Royal family than Elizabeth Windsor, from the Saxe-Coburg and Gotha royal dynasty.
While friends and associates of Greg cannot confirm his death with 100% certainly, they fear the worse having not heard from him for weeks.
Having survived at least 12 attempts on his life, it would seem the 13th attempt has been fatal.
From an interview on the 26th of July 2012 hosted by Jim Fetzer and Jim Viken.
Greg Hallett: Well, you know, it was the 12th one, and I thought, you know, the 13th is trying to be a bit too lucky.
The interviewer is a prick (in my opinion) but an interesting interview non-the-less.

Here is her channel, which happens to be one of my favourite: http://www.youtube.com/channel/UC2nyigZS5YNDrCu_pih809w

Time for the real Game of Thrones... its "The Toilet: The Stinky History," where we walk you through an invention you have probably used more than your iPhone, unless you also use your iPhone on it. How did people poop in ancient rome and medieval England, and where did it all go? The answers will disturb you.

SCRIPT:

This film includes locations such as Little Woodham Village in Gosport and The Weald and Downland Open Air Museum near Chichester.
