The
Yamaha C40 Classical Guitar is a fantastic
Beginners Guitar, for a whole host of reasons. I admit that I was a little bit skeptical because I honestly don't have too much experience when it comes to classical guitars, but those concerns -- in hindsight -- were completely unwarranted. Now the questions is whether or not this is the right instrument for your needs. Therefore, let's do a quick Yamaha C40 review.
As I just mentioned, if you are a guitar beginner, this guitar would be my number one recommendation.
And I will explain as to why in a second. However, to be very clear, the Yamaha C40 is not only a great beginners guitar, but also an excellent choice for seasoned players (like myself) who want to explore the field of classical music or who simply like to have an inexpensive acoustic guitar with nylon strings.
I've been playing for 25 years already before I bought this guitar and I am more than pleased with my purchase.
Alright, one of the very first questions I get from my guitar students is: what type of guitar do I need to get started?
The answer to this can strongly vary depending on whom you ask. But in my personal opinion as a guitar teacher, I always give the following advice: If you're short on money, try to borrow and instrument from a friend or family member, just to get you started. However, if that is not possible or if you already made the decision that you want your own guitar, then I strongly suggest that you get yourself a classical acoustic guitar with nylon strings.
Does that mean you can only play classical music? No, of course not -- with that type of instrument you can play any kind of music you like. However, with an instrument such as the Yamaha C40 Classical Guitar, your fingers won't hurt as much as they do when you go with a guitar that has steel strings, such as a
Western or
Electric Guitar. To be clear, not all guitar teachers agree with me on this
point, but that's just my opinion based on what I've seen in my students.
If you are a guitar beginner, I would therefore recommend that you get yourself the Yamaha C40 Classical Guitar
Package. That's what I got for myself. The package comes with the instrument and a number of useful accessories, including a guitar tuner, an instructional CD, an extra set of nylon strings and a high quality gig-bag. So considering what you get for your money, this is an excellent deal. Oh, speaking of money, I guess I should also let you know the Yamaha C40 price -- well, I bought my set on amazon and I paid around $
150 for the whole package.
Hands down, you can't beat that. Here is a link over to my website with more details around buying options:

Since I put the video above on youtube, I got a number questions by folks who have been playing for a while, whether or not this guitar would be a good choice for them.
Again, it depends on your situation and what your ultimate goal is. If you are booked to play
Carnegie Hall next month, then you are likely looking for an instrument in a different price category. However, if you are a beginner or advanced player who is looking for a decent guitar acoustic guitar with nylon strings at a super low price, well, then the Yamaha C40 is right for you.
Alright, that's it. I hope you found my Yamaha C40 Classical Guitar
Review helpful. You can always contact me if you have any questions around this instrument or more general guitar topics.
