Rise Records

Rise Records is an American, Oregon, USA-based, independent record label.

History

Rise was founded in 1991 by Craig Ericson in Nevada City, California. He released a small number of 7" records before putting the label on hiatus to attend college. Ericson didn't release anything further until 1999, after moving to Portland, Oregon. He began issuing small-print 7" records, and his first CD release came in 2000, from the group One Last Thing. The label gave a strong foundation to bands Anatomy of a Ghost, Ever We Fall (who later signed with Hopeless) and Fear Before the March of Flames (who signed to Equal Vision). Later signees (e.g. Drop Dead, Gorgeous, Breathe Carolina and The Devil Wears Prada), gained considerable popularity while with Rise, and moved on to what were larger labels at the time (Interscope, Fearless and Ferret, respectively). Rise has also signed some veteran bands, including: Hot Water Music, Bouncing Souls, The Bled, Bleeding Through and From First To Last.

Music video

A music video or song video is a short film integrating a song and imagery, produced for promotional or artistic purposes. Modern music videos are primarily made and used as a marketing device intended to promote the sale of music recordings. There are also cases where songs are used in tie in marketing campaigns that allow them to become more than just a song. Tie ins and merchandising could be used in toys are marketing campaigns for food and other products. Although the origins of music videos date back to musical short films that first appeared in the 1920s, they came into prominence in the 1980s when MTV based their format around the medium. Prior to the 1980s, these works were described by various terms including "illustrated song", "filmed insert", "promotional (promo) film", "promotional clip", "promotional video", "song video", "song clip" or "film clip". Since the creation and increased popularity of YouTube, mainstream artists now promote new music videos by releasing trailers of short promos on the site for their upcoming song and music video. Consequentially, YouTube has been converted into a social media platform for celebrities and artists to market themselves to their fans and audiences.

Tyler Carter

Derek Tyler Carter (born December 30, 1991) is an American singer and songwriter from Habersham County, Georgia. He is most prominently known for being the singer for metalcore band Issues and former vocalist of Woe, Is Me. On January 13, 2015, he released his debut major label EP, Leave Your Love.

Musical career history

A Path Less Traveled (2008)

Though this was his first serious endeavor, a local band from Buford, Georgia, A Path Less Traveled would begin the vocal duo, and best friend stardom of both Carter, and still today, co-frontman Michael Bohn.

Woe, Is Me (2009–2011)

Carter was recruited in 2009 to help develop the band Woe, Is Me. Already reaping interest and funding from Rise Records, Carter began writing demos with the band just before once again he would be joined in ranks by none other than Michael Bohn. Together with the band they recorded one full length entitled "Numbers" They also re-imagined a cover of Katy Perry's Hot n Cold for Fearless Records's Punk Goes Pop 3 before leaving the band due to personal and internal differences with the band and its core. Though Carter left first and pursued a milestone of Solo development and touring, with dedicated music partner Tyler "Scout" Acord, it wasn't long before he began development with Scout on a brainchild known as "Issues."

History and profile

Founded in 2007, Artist Profile is released four times a year and distributed across Australia, Oceania, North America, Southeast Asia and South Africa. The magazine features exclusive studio interviews and photographic profiles of Australian and international artists, as well as essays by artists, scholars and curators; artist projects; exhibition reviews; and information on books, films, fairs, biennials and contemporary art festivals with a concentration on Australia and the Asia-Pacific region.

Artist Profile also sponsors and manages artist expeditions, public programs, exhibitions and other arts projects to foster appreciation of the arts, working in tandem with the magazine, to make the creative output of talented artists available to collectors, industry professionals, educators and other artists.
