The Life and Sad Ending of Rod Steiger.
#MostActor
Mini bio of the life of actor Rod Steiger, who is probably most famous for his portrayal of offbeat, often volatile and crazed characters. Cited as "one of Hollywood's most charismatic and dynamic stars," he is closely associated with the art of method acting, embodying the characters he played, which at times led to clashes with directors and co-stars. He starred as Marlon Brando's mobster brother Charley in On the Waterfront (1954), the title character Sol Nazerman in The Pawnbroker (1964), and as police chief Bill Gillespie opposite Sidney Poitier in the film In the Heat of the Night (1967) which won him the Academy Award for Best Actor.

Lion of the Desert - Rod Steiger as Mussolini
The intro to the 1981 Libyan film, 'Lion of the Desert', starring Rod Steiger as Mussolini, alongside Oliver Reed as Graziani and Anthony Quinn as Omar Mukhtar. In this scene, Mussolini gives Graziani the mission to subdue Libya under Italian rule.
In these scenes, Steiger captures excellently the frustration of Mussolini with the slow progress of the anti-insurgency campaign in Italian Libya, with striking parallels to his more well-known depiction of the French emperor Napoleon in Bondarchuk's 1970 epic, Waterloo.
The film was directed by Moustapha Akkad, with aid from the government of Colonel Gaddaffi. Property of the United Film Distribution Company.

Another boundless performance from Rod Steiger in The Sergeant, this time as Albert Callan, obsessed with one of his men. Much more like a modern documentary drama set against a “Don’t ask, don’t tell” policy in the army than a piece of Hollywood fiction more than half a century old. Watch it!
