Till or glacial till is unsorted glacial sediment.

Till is derived from the erosion and entrainment of material by the moving ice of a glacier. It is deposited some distance down-ice to form terminal, lateral, medial and ground moraines.

Till is classified into primary deposits, laid down directly by glaciers, and secondary deposits, reworked by fluvial transport and other processes.

Processes

Glacial drift is the coarsely graded and extremely heterogeneous sediment of a glacier; till is the part of glacial drift deposited directly by the glacier. Its content may vary from clays to mixtures of clay, sand, gravel, and boulders. This material is mostly derived from the subglacial erosion and entrainment by the moving ice of the glaciers of previously available unconsolidated sediments. Bedrock can also be eroded through the action of glacial plucking and abrasion and the resulting clasts of various sizes will be incorporated to the glacier's bed.

Eventually, the sedimentary assemblage forming this bed will be abandoned some distance down-ice from its various sources. This is the process of glacial till deposition. When this deposition occurs at the base of the moving ice of a glacier, the sediment is called lodgement till. Rarely, eroded unconsolidated sediments can be preserved in the till along with their original sedimentary structures. More commonly, these sediments lose their original structure through the mixture processes associated with subglacial transport and they solely contribute to form the more or less uniform matrix of the till.

ÖTILLÖ (Swedish for "Island to island") is a one-day swimrun race in the archipelago of Stockholm, Sweden. You compete in teams of two. The aim of the race is to get from Sandhamn to Utö, via 24 islands, by running across them and swimming between them. The total distance is 75 kilometres of which 10 km are open-water swimming and 65 km are trail-running. The first race was produced in 2006. The largest islands to run across are Runmarö, Nämdö and Ornö. In 2012 ÖTILLÖ was ranked as one of the toughest endurance challenges of the world by CNN.com. ÖTILLÖ is the first race and the origin to the growing movement of Swimrun. ÖTILLÖ is considered to be the World Championship of Swimrun even though it is not part of a federation.

Wonka VM

The Wonka VM is an open source, portable, embedded implementation of the Java virtual machine specification, together with class libraries which implement most of the Connected Device Configuration of Java ME, version 1.0. The VM itself was developed independently of any other implementation, including Sun Microsystem's RI. The same is true of most of the class libraries, but in this case some code is drawn from the GNU Classpath project.

The Wonka VM was developed by telematics company Acunia to run on its ARM-based hardware. In October 2001 Wonka was released as open source software under a "revised" BSD license. Since the demise of Acunia the Wonka VM website has been hosted by software house Luminis at wonka-vm.org; however the code is no longer under active development, Wonka having effectively been superseded by the Mika VM. Nonetheless there are still many instances of Wonka in daily use, for example in Punch Telematix' CarCube or Kronos' HirePort recruitment terminal.

The Willy Wonka Candy Company is a British brand of candy owned and licensed by Swiss corporation Nestlé. The Wonka brand's inception comes from materials licensed from British author Roald Dahl. His classic children's novel, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and its film adaptations are the source of both the packaging and the marketing styles of the Wonka brand. The brand was launched in 1971, coinciding with the release of the novel's first film adaptation. In 1988 the Willy Wonka Candy Company brand – then owned by Sunmark – was acquired by Nestlé. Nestlé sells sweets and chocolate under the Willy Wonka brand name in the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Africa, Mexico, Colombia, Brazil, Argentina, Costa Rica and Panama.

Origins

The Willy Wonka Candy Company was first imagined in the pages of Roald Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory. The 'Wonka' property was licensed to film director Mel Stuart; his 10-year-old daughter read Charlie and the Chocolate Factory and asked her father to make it into a film, obliging him to get "Uncle Dave" (producer David L. Wolper) to produce it. Stuart showed the book to Wolper, who was engaged in talks with the Quaker Oats Company. Wolper convinced the Quaker Oats Company into signing the deal for up to $3 million to finance the film version in exchange for the candy bar tie-in. Quaker, who had no previous experience in the film industry, bought the rights to the book and financed the picture for the purpose of promoting their new Wonka Bar. The name of Dahl's Charlie and the Chocolate Factory however was renamed to Willy Wonka and the Chocolate Factory for promotion purposes.
