As many as 450 students from Tirunelveli, Thoothukudi and Kanyakumari districts are expected to participate in ‘The Hindu Young World Painting Competition’ finals to be held here on Sunday.
Of the 575 entries received from the students — 314 juniors and 261 seniors — from 58 schools in the three districts, 450 students have been selected for the finals to be held at Bell Matriculation Higher Secondary School at Palayamkottai from 9 a.m.
Eminent artist and former principal of Government Fine Arts College, Egmore, Chandru, who is one of the chief guests of the finals, will select the winners’ work along with B. Devendhira Poopathy, Joint Commissioner (Enforcement), Department of Commercial Taxes, Tirunelveli. Winners will receive the prizes at the valediction to be held at 2 p.m.
The competition is presented by Thyrocare.
