Avid Technology, Inc. (NASDAQ: AVID) is an American company specializing in video and audio production technology; specifically, digital non-linear editing (NLE) systems, management and distribution services. It was created in 1987 and became a publicly traded company in 1993. Avid is headquartered in Burlington, Massachusetts.
Avid products are now used in the television and video industry to create television shows, feature films, and commercials. Media Composer, a professional software-based non-linear editing system is Avid's flagship product.
Non-Linear Editing is a technique used in digital systems where a digital source (such as digitized film, video or audio) is used to create an edited version, not by rearranging the source file, but by creating a detailed list of edit points (ins, outs, fades, etc.). The editing software reads the edit list and creates a new version (the edit) by applying the list parameters to the playback of the source. This type of non-destructive editing is one of the advantages digital editing has over cutting film or magnetic tape. Films are generally edited by making a digital transfer from and using this process during editing. An edit decision list (EDL) is then output from the editing software, which is used to produce cuts and dissolves in the actual film using automated equipment.

Bleed procedure for the Formula disc brakes. You will need Formula or Avid bleed kit, T10 torx and a Dot4 brake fluid. Start with unbolting the brake lever from the handlebar. It needs to be vertical with the bleeding port on top. Then position the bike that the bleeding port on the caliper is in upper most position. Make sure the brake lever is higher than the brake caliper. Fill one syringe one half full of dot4 brake fluid and the other syringe one quarter full. Hold each syringe with the tip pointed up and slowly push the air bubbles out. Close each hose clamp and pull on the plunger. Bubbles will appear to form and enlarge. Continue to pull on the plunger to release all the bubbles so they can rise to the top of the fluid. Release the plunger, open the clamp and carefully push the ... -

Bleed procedure for the Formula disc brakes.
You will need Formula or Avid bleed kit, T10 torx and a Dot4 brake fluid.
Start with unbolting the brake lever from the handlebar.
It needs to be vertical with the bleeding port on top.
Then position the bike that the bleeding port on the caliper is in upper most position. Make sure the brake lever is higher than the brake caliper.
Fill one syringe one half full of dot4 brake fluid and the other syringe one quarter full.
Hold each syringe with the tip pointed up and slowly push the air bubbles out. Close each hose clamp and pull on the plunger. Bubbles will appear to form and enlarge. Continue to pull on the plunger to release all the bubbles so they can rise to the top of the fluid. Release the plunger, open the clamp and carefully push the air out. Repeat this process several times.
Use a T10 torx to remove the caliper bleed port screw. Be careful not to contaminate brake pads and brake rotor. You can remove the wheel and brake pads and use the appropriate bleed block.
Carefully remove the rubber o-ring.
Use the one half full syringe and tread it all the way into the caliper body and open the clamp.
Use a T10 torx to remove the lever bleed port screw. Tread the other syringe in the brake lever and open the clamp.
Bleed the hose
Gently push on the caliper syringe plunger to move fluid up through the system and into the lever syringe. Push until the caliper syringe is left less than one quarter full.
Bleed the caliper
Close the clamp on the lever syringe. Pull the brake lever in and fasten it with a zip tie. Pull out on the caliper syringe plunger to create a vacuum then gently push back to pressurize the system. Repeat the procedure several times until large bubbles stop coming out of the caliper. Do not pull too hard.
Remove a zip tie from the brake lever but keep the lever pulled in with your finger. Apply the pressure on the caliper syringe plunger and allow the brake lever to slowly release to the fully extended position.
Remove the syringe from the caliper and reinstall the bleed port screw. Don't forget the rubber o-ring.
Bleed the lever
Open a clamp on the lever syringe. Pull on the plunger to create a vacuum then gently push on the plunger to pressurize the system. Squeeze and release the brake lever several times to release all the bubbles in the system. At the end push and release the plunger one last time.
Remove the syringe and reinstall the bleed port screw.
Use isopropyl alcohol or water and wipe off any excess brake fluid from the brake lever and the caliper.

How to setup cantilever brakes? I use the Avid Shorty 4 cantilever brakes as an example in this instructional video. 1. Lightly grease the brake bosses on the bike. 2. Slide the cantilever brake arms on the bicycle bosses. Insert the brake pin in the middle hole of the bicycle for best results. If the pin does not line up with the middle hole make sure the return spring bolt on the brake arm is loosened enough. Use a washer and the mounting bolt to secure the brake arm to the bike. 3. Install the brake pads in the slot of the brake arms. Change the order of the various washers to achieve the correct distance between the brake pad and the wheel rim - the brake pads should hit the wheel rim completely and not touch the tire. How to setup cantilever brakes? I use the Avid Shorty 4 cantilever brakes as an example in this instructional video.
1. Lightly grease the brake bosses on the bike.
2. Slide the cantilever brake arms on the bicycle bosses. Insert the brake pin in the middle hole of the bicycle for best results. If the pin does not line up with the middle hole make sure the return spring bolt on the brake arm is loosened enough. Use a washer and the mounting bolt to secure the brake arm to the bike.
3. Install the brake pads in the slot of the brake arms. Change the order of the various washers to achieve the correct distance between the brake pad and the wheel rim - the brake pads should hit the wheel rim completely and not touch the tire. The washer configurations may also vary between manufacturers so read the brake pad's installation instructions. Secure the brake pad to the brake arm by tightening the mounting bolt.
4. Next install the brake straddle cable (link wire) assembly. Send the brake cable through the straddle cable housing medallion (disc). The medallion has two notches - send the brake cable through the notch that is inline with the cable housing. Install the link wire end in the brake arm with a cable slot. Feed the brake cable through the tension bolt of the other brake arm. Snap the brake cable into the medallion's upward facing notch, and tighten the cable tension bolt with the brake pads approximately 2 mm distance from the wheel rim.
5. Center the brakes by loosening and tightening the return spring bolt on the brake arms. Spin the wheel to check for brake rub. Adjust as necessary.

How to setup cantilever brakes? I use the Avid Shorty 4 cantilever brakes as an example in this instructional video.
1. Lightly grease the brake bosses on the bike.
2. Slide the cantilever brake arms on the bicycle bosses. Insert the brake pin in the middle hole of the bicycle for best results. If the pin does not line up with the middle hole make sure the return spring bolt on the brake arm is loosened enough. Use a washer and the mounting bolt to secure the brake arm to the bike.
3. Install the brake pads in the slot of the brake arms. Change the order of the various washers to achieve the correct distance between the brake pad and the wheel rim - the brake pads should hit the wheel rim completely and not touch the tire. The washer configurations may also vary between manufacturers so read the brake pad's installation instructions. Secure the brake pad to the brake arm by tightening the mounting bolt.
4. Next install the brake straddle cable (link wire) assembly. Send the brake cable through the straddle cable housing medallion (disc). The medallion has two notches - send the brake cable through the notch that is inline with the cable housing. Install the link wire end in the brake arm with a cable slot. Feed the brake cable through the tension bolt of the other brake arm. Snap the brake cable into the medallion's upward facing notch, and tighten the cable tension bolt with the brake pads approximately 2 mm distance from the wheel rim.
5. Center the brakes by loosening and tightening the return spring bolt on the brake arms. Spin the wheel to check for brake rub. Adjust as necessary.
