Beatport is an online music store specializing in electronic dance music and culture. Beatport is a privately held company owned and operated by Beatport LLC and based in Denver, Colorado.
Beatport released the first 320 of its web store, Beatport 1.0, on January 7, 2004 with 79 Electronic Music Labels in its catalog.
In January 2005, a revised Beatport 2.0 was released, with a catalog over 100,000 tracks supplied by 2,700 signed labels. Beatport was also made accessible through a scaled-down GUI embedded within DJ software; Traktor DJ Studio by Native Instruments.
On August 7, 2006, Beatport released Beatport 3.0 Fully Loaded, the third version of its store, which featured improvements to navigation, customized content subscription via My Beatport, and new payment options.
In February 2007, Beatport launched the Beatport Player, a viral marketing web widget to play back relevant Artist, Label, Genre, and Chart content. Built using Adobe Flash and HTML, the player gives users the ability to create custom, dynamic playlists from Beatport's entire catalog of song previews to be embedded into nearly any HTML website.
Carl Cox (born 29 July 1962, Barbados) is a British techno and house music DJ and producer.
Cox grew up in Oldham, Lancashire, before attending Glastonbury High Boys secondary modern school on Glastonbury Road in Morden.[citation needed] Cox began his career as a hardcore and rave DJ in the mid 1980s. One of the first gigs he played was in legendary promoters John Binton and Terry Onion's Squeeze my buttered Onions! club in Hackney, London Unconfirmed reports suggest he was coerced into swallowing an onion on stage, one of Terry's famous requests he gave to his acts. He was named the "Three Deck Wizard" after playing on three turntables simultaneously at the Second Summer of Love in 1988.[citation needed] He has performed at clubs such as The Eclipse, Edge, Shelly's, Sterns Nightclub, Heaven, Sir Henry's in Cork, Ireland and Angels and The Haçienda, as well as raves for Fantazia, Dreamscape, and Amnesia House. He now spearheads two record labels, Intec Records and 23rd Century Records. He also has his own stage every year at Ultra Music Festival called Carl Cox and Friends.
Dennis Ferrer (born 1970) is a New York-based DJ, producer and remixer. He currently resides in Union City, New Jersey. A veteran of soulful house music production, Dennis has worked with the likes of Masters at Work (MAW), Little Louie Vega, the Martinez Brothers and many other notable New York producers and DJs. Dennis is also the founder of Objektivity record label.
A prolific record producer and remixer, Dennis has a large collection of productions spanning his career.
