《別歌》是描述陷入孤立無援、四面受敵的兵將們，在四面楚歌的窘迫環境中，想起家人的「那一瞬間」，心中百感交集地在死或生、降或滅之中掙扎！曲子由六位打擊樂手：四位在舞台上，二位在觀眾席的左右；合唱團則分為四組在舞台下圍繞著聽眾，他們所唱的歌詞是被我打亂並重組的四首著名「楚歌」，即漢代名將李陵的《別歌》、秦末漢初項羽的《垓下歌》、西漢劉邦的《大風歌》和漢武帝劉徹的《秋風辭》，再加上毫無意義的虛字，分配到四組的合唱當中。此外，合唱團每人也會吹奏不同大小的塤。
笙是全曲中非常重要的部分，我主要是想表達一種延續的氣息，如歷史上、戰爭中的無主孤魂，自由地遊走在舞台上和舞台下。
音樂到了最後，男童女高音在聽眾座後的一樓唱著童謠般的旋律，一組合唱團員慢慢走上舞台圍繞著鋼琴向琴弦歌詠出對家、親人的思念。
我非常感謝十方樂集徐伯年老師和王靖媛向我邀約此曲，同時也要感謝台北室內合唱團的陳雲紅老師和高端禾，采風樂坊的笙演奏家黃朧逸老師參與此曲的首演！
我謹題獻此曲給徐伯年老師、陳雲紅老師、黃朧逸老師、十方樂集和台北室內合唱團。此曲《別歌》也同時在紀念歷史中無數為和平犧牲的無名戰士。

Wu Ye Ti 《烏夜諦》 or 'Evening Call of the Raven' is from the Shenqi Mipu 【神竒秘譜】 (1425) tablature collection. It is about a price by the name of Yikang who was banished to Yuzhang and met the governer who both cried together at his situation. The Emperor heard of this and took offense, so he summoned Yikang to the palace which cause him to panic at what might happen. Later, his servants heard of the cawing of ravens during the evening and they told him that it is a good omen. He finally met the Emperor who transferred him Yan Jiu.
Generally, raven calls are considered unlucky but it is assumed that the timing of the call makes a difference between a lucky (before 10pm) and an unlucky (10pm and after) omen.
There is a section in the melody entitled 'fighting for the nest' which tries to mimic the sound of the ravens squawking as they fight for the nest. It should be apparent in the music which has a feel of uneasiness reflecting the unknown future.
I'm in Tang Dynasty yuanlingshan and putuo (during a Hanfu phase in my life). TBH, I don't wear Hanfu any more these days unless requested by my colleagues, preferring to wear suit/morning dress (for day) or black/white tie (for evening) performances and concerts.

Footage from a rare concert featuring the famous Chinese vocalist Gong Linna (龚琳娜, b. 1975 in Guiyang, Guizhou, southwest China) singing qin ge (琴歌, guqin songs) with guqin (古琴, ancient 7-string zither) and xiao (箫, vertical bamboo flute) accompaniment.
The xiao player is Wang Hua (王华) and the guqin player is Lin Chen (林晨).
Filmed on April 8, 2009, location unknown.
In 2009 Gong released a CD entitled "Xian'ge Qing Yun: Classical Qin-songs" 《弦歌轻韵》 (KuKu Music 91), featuring xiao player Wang Hua (王华) and guqin player Lin Chen (林晨). The CD was recorded in a more than 300-year-old castle in Munich, Germany in 2008 using no artificial reverberation, and contains the following tracks:

The project came about as follows: in the spring of 2007 in the doorway of the Cologne Cathedral in Cologne, Germany, Gong Linna happened to meet the guqin player Lin Chen, a graduate of the China Conservatory of Music (中国音乐学院) in Beijing. They began chatting about qin ge, and found that the subject was very appealing to both of them. Later, they met the appeals. Later, they found the xiao player Wang Hua, who was also full of interest. So they began looking for songs and practicing together.

Here I play a modern Chinese song, 别亦难, (Difficult to say good-bye), which was composed on the first four verses of a beautiful poem by Li Changyin (李商隱, Tang dynasty). The song was firstly performed by Paula Tsui (徐小凤), a famous singer from Hong Kong, in 1988.
Here are the lyrics of the song:

The silkworm is alive as long as it spins silk.

整整一年沒有琴簫的上載。幽靈公主是宮崎駿作品中最喜愛的一部，所以弄了它的主題曲來玩一下。之前曾經聽過一個日本shakuhachi(尺八)的版本，覺得不錯聽，所以依樣胡蘆掰一下(當然效果差好遠)。錄了幾十cut按到手指頭都快發麻了，最後一段因 為中氣不足開始卡到，包容一下吧......
還有我的簫是D調，我把key降到原key的C，所以有些半音弄得不好

Guqin - Wu Ye Ti 《烏夜諦》 [Evening Call of the Raven]
Wu Ye Ti 《烏夜諦》 or 'Evening Call of the Raven' is from the Shenqi Mipu 【神竒秘譜】 (1425) tablature collection. It is about a price by the name of Yikang who was banished to Yuzhang and met the governer who both cried together at his situation. The Emperor heard of this and took offense, so he summoned Yikang to the palace which cause him to panic at what might happen. Later, his servants heard of the cawing of ravens during the evening and they told him that it is a good omen. He finally met the Emperor who transferred him Yan Jiu. Generally, raven calls are considered unlucky but it is assumed that the timing of the call makes a difference between a lucky (before 10pm) and an unlucky (10pm and after) omen. There is a section in the melody entitled 'fighting for the nest' which tries to mimi... -

Footage from a rare concert featuring the famous Chinese vocalist Gong Linna (龚琳娜, b. 1975 in Guiyang, Guizhou, southwest China) singing qin ge (琴歌, guqin songs) with guqin (古琴, ancient 7-string zither) and xiao (箫, vertical bamboo flute) accompaniment. The xiao player is Wang Hua (王华) and the guqin player is Lin Chen (林晨). Filmed on April 8, 2009, location unknown. In 2009 Gong released a CD entitled "Xian'ge Qing Yun: Classical Qin-songs" 《弦歌轻韵》 (KuKu Music 91), featuring xiao player Wang Hua (王华) and guqin player Lin Chen (林晨). 整整一年沒有琴簫的上載。幽靈公主是宮崎駿作品中最喜愛的一部，所以弄了它的主題曲來玩一下。之前曾經聽過一個日本shakuhachi(尺八)的版本，覺得不錯聽，所以依樣胡蘆掰一下(當然效果差好遠)。錄了幾十cut按到手指頭都快發麻了，最後一段因 為中氣不足開始卡到，包容一下吧...... 還有我的簫是D調，我把key降到原key的C，所以有些半音弄得不好 -

《別歌》是描述陷入孤立無援、四面受敵的兵將們，在四面楚歌的窘迫環境中，想起家人的「那一瞬間」，心中百感交集地在死或生、降或滅之中掙扎！曲子由六位打擊樂手：四位在舞台上，二位在觀眾席的左右；合唱團則分為四組在舞台下圍繞著聽眾，他們所唱的歌詞是被我打亂並重組的四首著名「楚歌」，即漢代名將李陵的《別歌》、秦末漢初項羽的《垓下歌》、西漢劉邦的《大風歌》和漢武帝劉徹的《秋風辭》，再加上毫無意義的虛字，分配到四組的合唱當中。此外，合唱團每人也會吹奏不同大小的塤。
笙是全曲中非常重要的部分，我主要是想表達一種延續的氣息，如歷史上、戰爭中的無主孤魂，自由地遊走在舞台上和舞台下。
音樂到了最後，男童女高音在聽眾座後的一樓唱著童謠般的旋律，一組合唱團員慢慢走上舞台圍繞著鋼琴向琴弦歌詠出對家、親人的思念。
我非常感謝十方樂集徐伯年老師和王靖媛向我邀約此曲，同時也要感謝台北室內合唱團的陳雲紅老師和高端禾，采風樂坊的笙演奏家黃朧逸老師參與此曲的首演！

The project came about as follows: in the spring of 2007 in the doorway of the Cologne Cathedral in Cologne, Germany, Gong Linna happened to meet the guqin player Lin Chen, a graduate of the China Conservatory of Music (中国音乐学院) in Beijing. They began chatting about qin ge, and found that the subject was very appealing to both of them. Later, they met the appeals. Later, they found the xiao player Wang Hua, who was also full of interest. So they began looking for songs and practicing together.
