Pío de Jesús Pico (May 5, 1801 – September 11, 1894) was the last governor of Alta California (now the State of California) under Mexican rule.
Pico was a first-generation Californio, born in Alta California to parents who emigrated from the part of New Spain that is now Mexico. He was born at the Mission San Gabriel Arcángel to José María Pico and his wife María Eustaquia Gutiérrez, with the aid of midwife Eulalia Pérez de Guillén Mariné. His paternal grandmother, María Jacinta de la Bastida, was listed in the 1790 census as mulata, meaning mixed race with African ancestry. His paternal grandfather, Santiago de la Cruz Pico, was described as a Mestizo (Native American-Spanish) in the same census. Santiago de la Cruz Pico was one of the soldiers who accompanied Juan Bautista de Anza on the expedition that left Tubac, Arizona for California in 1775 to explore the region and colonize it. Pio Pico was thus of Spanish, African and Native American ancestry.

The current Governor is Mir Ghazanfar Ali Khan, who took over on 20 November 2015.
Following is the list of governors after Gilgit-Baltistan was given the status of province on August 29, 2009, the federal cabinet had approved the Gilgit-Baltistan Empowerment and Self-Governance Order 2009.

Whittier (/ˈwɪtiər/) is a city in Southern California. The city had a population of 85,331 at the 2010 census, up from 83,680 as of the 2000 census, and encompasses 14.7 square miles (38.0 km2). Like nearby Montebello, the city constitutes part of the Gateway Cities. Whittier was incorporated in February 1898 and became a charter city in 1955. The city is named for the poet John Greenleaf Whittier and is home to Whittier College.
Whittier's roots can be traced to Spanish soldier Manuel Nieto. In 1784, Nieto received a Spanish land grant of 300,000 acres (1,200 km2), Rancho Los Nietos, as a reward for his military service and to encourage settlement in California. The area of Nieto's land grant was reduced in 1790 as the result of a dispute with Mission San Gabriel. Nonetheless, Nieto still had claim to 167,000 acres (680 km2) stretching from the hills north of Whittier, Fullerton and Brea, south to the Pacific ocean, and from what is known today as the Los Angeles River east to the Santa Ana River. Nieto built a rancho for his family near Whittier, and purchased cattle and horses for his ranch and also planted cornfields. When Nieto died in 1804, his children inherited their father's property.

Burbank used to be known as the Rancho Providencia. but in late February of 1845 you would have seen cannons and muskets being fired across the Los Angeles River. Average men rose to the occasion to assist in the revolt that would unseat a tyrannical governor, and replace him with Pío de Jesus Pico, a first generation Californian, who to many, was the face of democracy. After this battle, Pío Pico would become the LAST Governor of Mexican California. But he was the FIRST to be elected. Not by ballot… But by war.

Steve Ferrone of Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers celebrated his Birthday by jamming with some Little Kids Rock students at Pio Pico Middle School in Los Angeles, CA. What a Birthday present!!
Darling when we met
You were a pretty little thing
But your body started changing
When I gave you that ring
You’re supersizing, no exercising
Goodbye working out
A double meat with cheese, another helping please
Baby that’s what you’re all about
I pick you up in my pickup truck
But you had to ride in the back
I stopped off at the Sonic Burger
You ate everything in my sack
Darling please, won’t you please think of me
I’d love to have my baby back (baby back)
My baby back (baby back)
My baby back (baby back)
Six months have passed and you’ve gained 50 pounds
And I confess you got a real big rack
But the bad part is when I give you a hug
You got a two more on your back
You’re supersizing, no exercising
Goodbye working out
A double meat with cheese, another helping please
Baby that’s what you’re all about
I played football with the boys last night
And you were all time quarterback
But none of us could ever tackle you
Cause you’re built like a lumberjack
Darling please, won’t you please think of me
I’d love to have my baby back (baby back)
Put down the ribs (baby back)
My baby back (baby back)
And baby come back to me yeah
