Popular Irish ballad from my own county. A dream from an Irish exile in California. Michael Considine who composed the song was born around 1850 and emigrated to the USA from Spancilhill at around 1870. Some of his siblings came with him, but some stayed behind. One of his brothers, Patrick, died, leaving his widow to look after a five month old son called John. John was to become the guardian of the song when he grew up. Working in Boston for about two years, Michael Considine went to the USA with the intention of bringing his sweetheart over and for them to be married when he had made enough money for the passage. His sweetheart was "Mac, the ranger's daughter" and not "Nell, the farmer's daughter" as in the popularised version. Her name was Mary MacNamara who, according to the 1901 cen...

Crown Jewel: One of Tahoe’s finest unclimbed lines, Crown Jewel, was sent by Kyle O’Meara this past summer. It climbs a perfectly clean 30 foot overhanging wall with sustained moves throughout. The boulder sits in a spectacular position perched above the Phantom Spires. Brushless motor driven Hand Held Gimbals are the latest tech everyone is clamoring about these days for creating limitless & smooth tracking shots. My good friend Sean Haverstock of SkyPoint Visuals, an ariel and handheld stabilization cinematography company, has built one here in Tahoe and we took it for it 1st test drive a couple days ago. Here are some images we produced with it, as well as some behind the scenes footage. Even though this was our first time operating the gimbal we were able to produce some impressive shots. While not quite perfect yet, Sean is still dialing the gimbal in and figuring out how to get the most stable platform for us to run our cameras on. I’m really impressed with what he has done so far. The running shots with the swing bikes blew my mind. We didn’t add ...
