With so many Nigerians and so many Nigerian goods & foods, people often refer to Peckham in London as a "little Lagos" - so BattaBox went to investigate!
"Peckham is a typical jungle city - enjoy it in typical Lagos style!" says one Nigerian woman.
On the streets of Peckham, Nigerians can buy everything they could find in Lagos - form sponges, meat pies, yams, jollof rice, malt drink, chin chin, moi moi and much, much more!
"You can buy your yam, you can buy your snail, you can buy your pepper soup - everything you want is in Peckham," says another Nigerian woman.
Perhaps the most unexpected item for sale was Agbo Jedi Jedi - a herbal medicine for dysentery, piles, backache, piles and even impotence.
London is a popular destination for many Nigerians travelling and immigrating from Nigeria - but if you miss homes, then head down to Peckham!
"When I am here - I just remember home," says one Nigerian woman.

The Royal Court commissioned a young Peckham based film maker, Paris Robin, to go out and produce a film about the area to complement the Soap Opera digital content.
Paris Robin is a 19 year old actress and film-maker who has been making films independently for just over a year. Paris specialises in writing, pre-production and filming. Paris also owns her own Literary Agency which involves the development of plays, films and novels: http://www.swagswagliteraryagency.com/every-coin/.
For this project, she has teamed up with 420 productions, founded by Nitin Lutchman, 21, who is a post-production mastermind to produce this documentary. 420 is a media communications and video production company producing creative entertaining and engaging videos for a wide range of clients in a variety of sectors. We provide free services for charity organisation as well as use our experience in working with youths to work with talented young people in order to help them get the exposure they need and maximize their full potentials.

Peckham (
/ˈpɛkəm/) is a district in south London, England, located in the London Borough of Southwark. It is situated 3.5 miles (5.6 km) south-east of Charing Cross. The area is identified in the London Plan as one of 35 major centres in Greater London. The 2001 Census recorded a population of 11,381 in the Peckham ward of Southwark and the Office for National Statistics estimated 19,500 residents in the Peckham Community Council area in 2005.
'Peckham' is a Saxon place name meaning the village of the River Peck, a small stream that ran through the district until it was enclosed in 1823. Archaeological evidence indicates earlier Roman occupation in the area, although the name of this settlement is lost.
Peckham appears in Domesday Book of 1086 as Pecheham. It was held by the Bishop of Lisieux from the Bishop of Bayeux. Its Domesday assets were: 2 hides. It had land for 1 plough, 2 acres (8,100 m2) of meadow. It rendered £1 10s 0d (£1.50).

Charlie Sloth is a hip hop artist who was born and raised in Camden Town, North London, England.[citation needed]
Sloth become known for his "Cant forget about UK" track which named pioneers such as MC Duke, Stereo MC's and TY.[citation needed] He also made a remix which featured TY, Stereo MC's, Mc Duke, PRM, Funky DL and many other Pioneers.[citation needed]
Sloth's music career started on London's Pirate radio Stations such as Raw FM, Freek FM and Flex FM where he was best known for his pranks.[citation needed]
In 2007 he won "Most original Video" at the CraveFest awards Canada for his music video "Guided Tour of Camden", which is just what it says, and in which he calls Camden High Street "the mile of murder", and describes the crimes of "the Camden Ripper", murderer Anthony Hardy.
Sloth has also collaborated with US artists such as Craig G.[citation needed]
He is a DJ on BBC Radio 1Xtra, presenting the Hip Hop mix show from 1am - 4am on Saturday mornings, and the Saturday mid-morning show. This show has been important in launching the careers of UK MCs (such as Lowkey) through his "Fire In The Booth" feature.

Paris Robin is a 19 year old actress and film-maker who has been making films independently for just over a year. Paris specialises in writing, pre-production and filming. On the streets of Peckham, Nigerians can buy everything they could find in Lagos - form sponges, meat pies, yams, jollof rice, malt drink, chin chin, moi moi and much, much more!
"You can buy your yam, you can buy your snail, you can buy your pepper soup - everything you want is in Peckham," says another Nigerian woman.
Perhaps the most unexpected item for sale was Agbo Jedi Jedi - a herbal medicine for dysentery, piles, backache, piles and even impotence.
London is a popular destination for many Nigerians travelling and immigrating from Nigeria - but if you miss homes, then head down to Peckham!
"When I am here - I just remember home," says one Nigerian woman.

We kick off our Travel Basecamp Algarve season with a day of stand up paddle boarding at Praia da Marinha, the most beautiful beach in Europe and arguably the most beautiful beach in the world (seriously). Add barnacles to your list of exotic food to try in Algarve, Portugal! These barnacles are truly wild and only grow in a few remote places, such as Lagos in the Algarve. Harvesting can be a hazardous business and a permit is needed from the Portuguese authorities.
Harvesting for this delicacy is not a touristic option, due to the dangerous area they grow in, and the trouble it takes to collect them - hence the hefty price. But you can taste this widely consumed, yet expensive delicacy in many restaurants in Portugal and Spain. As Charlie Skelton, journalist for The Guardian says about the smell of goose barnacles cooking: ‘’It hits your nose like a tsunami, that incredible reek of the sea – strong as Poseidon's armpit, but heavenly, like a mermaid's burp.’’
For Travel Basecamp, it wasn’t an option! We needed to go head first into this wild and dangerous adventure of collecting goose barnacles. We were referred to a surf photographer João Bracourt AKA ‘’Brek’’ (https://joaobracourt.wordpress.com/). Brek was keen on the idea of being our host and accepted to bring us to his secret spot. Our mind was blown by the beauty of the landscape and our tastebuds were in paradise. We were blessed!

Nothing is more spectacular than flying high up in the sky and admire the view of the beautiful Algarve region. We traveled to Albufeira to meet up with José Rosado & Ivo Duarte from the Algarve Paragliding Association. Rodrigo got in touch with them and surprised Troy, his aim was to set him up to face his fear of heights. This adrenaline pumped activity, especially for Troy, ended up to be one of the most contemplative for us! A must for any thrill seeker searching for a deep personal experience! We finish off our adventure in Algarve by cooking the region’s staple dish in the town of Faro!
Although cataplana is the name of the copper cookware famous in the Algarve region, it also lends its name to the dish. We wish to thank the staff at Tertulia Algarvia, and especially chef Margarida Vargues for taking the time to teach us this delicious dish. We highly recommend you pay them a visit if you are in Faro.
Alternatively, you can also try this dish at home, thanks to their generosity for passing on the recipe for our viewers! Check our blog for the recipe of the cataplana dish that we cooked in that episode.
We also stopped by some local hot spots in Faro such as Se7e Pedras wine bar for a glass of the famously crisp portuguese white wine called Vinho verde.

As our first time skydiving, we experienced the full rollercoaster of emotions as we go through the process and prepare to jump.
This is also the introduction to the series so we can see the first glimpses at the beautiful white sandy beaches Varadero is famous for.
If you’ve never experienced jumping out of a moving plane and free-falling for 35 seconds during a death-defying 3000 metres plunge to the ground, now would be a great time to check that off your bucket list. Parachuting in Varadero also means a stunning bird’s eye view of the beach and pristine water before landing in white cozy sand. For this first episode in Cuba, we decided to dive head first in Varadero with skydiving at 15,000 feet up in the air!
As our first time skydiving, we experienced the full rollercoaster of emotions as we go through the process and prepare to jump.
This is also the introduction to the series so we can see the first glimpses at the beautiful white sandy beaches Varadero is famous for.
If you’ve never experienced jumping out of a moving plane and free-falling for 35 seconds during a death-defying 3000 metres plunge to the ground, now would be a great time to check that off your bucket list. Parachuting in Varadero also means a stunning bird’s eye view of the beach and pristine water before landing in white cozy sand. Get quality safety and expertise at a much affordable price than most North American rates.

After an extreme first day Sky Diving in Varadero, Troy brings the crew to go underground at the Bellamar Caves in Mantazas and take some time to cool-down from the Cuban sun. We ended up to get some serious schooling about the geography of the Varadero region from our new friend: Jesus (no joke, that is his real name!!!).
The underground experience begins in a large cave with stalagmites and stalactites growing from the floor and ceiling. Then, after a 100 ft descent down narrow corridors, you’ll find yourself surrounded by formations of small – and quite majestic – crystals.
Don’t miss the opportunity to drink water from two natural fountains: The “Fountain of Youth” and the “Fountain of Love”!!!

What the heck is a “goose barnacles”?
Goose barnacles are also called stalked barnacles, gooseneck barnacles or percebes. They are filter-feeding crustaceans that live attached to hard surfaces of rocks and flotsam in the ocean intertidal zone.

Despite the evidence that the young local players do not have access to the right equipment, it doesn't daunt them to get on the court with the league and make the best with what they have. Cristina, an amazing woman from Ottawa (Canada), is making huge effort to get Canadians travellers to bring and donate bike polo gear of all kind to help the young Cuban bikers.
In Cuba, it's not about being a hipster on a bike but all about having fun while staying in shape. Watch the video to see Troy score again and again and again! Using cheap road bikes, a mallet and a ball, bike polo is a super fun and affordable sport. Having never played, the three had a lot to learn and quickly as they took to the court. Turns out it was way harder than it looks, especially on the beat up old bikes they're using. That said, Troy took to it like a natural and scored every one of the Basecamper goals.

Have you ever heard of the infamous Rafael Trejo boxing gym in the heart of Havana in Cuba? They Gym pumped out many Cuban Olympic Champions. Although Cuba's national sport is baseball, boxing is the sport where Cuban achieved the greatest dominance at the Olympic Games. Sarah Bobas heard about the only woman boxer in Cuba who train at this mythic underground gym. So we went to meet with Namibia, the woman that Sarah connected with and we went all in to train with her. The national team coach puts us through a rigorous training regime before throwing us into the ring with some of the champs of the gym. (Thanks god they went easy on us!!!)
Boxing is traditionally viewed as a man sport, but in Cuba, women boxing is not even allowed. Defying the government, Namibia is the only female boxer in Cuba and trains at Gimnasio de Boxeo Rafael Trejo, a location where you can go to train with Cuban boxers or just watch matches every Friday at 7pm. In this episode, Sarah has the honour of being the first woman Namibia has ever sparred with!

This journey starts from Uxbridge and finishes in Uxbridge, this is a day in London, the first length is travelling down the Metropolitan Line to Baker Street on S8 Stock but at Finchley Road, decided to change trains and travel on 1996 Tube Stock to Green Park to change onto the Victoria Line 2009 Stock to London Victoria for the first bit, The Great Britain VII Railtour which started at London Victoria, worked by 34046 Braunton, after departure of the GBVII, went to find my train and traveled to Battersea Park to film some Southern and Gatwick Express EMUs stopping and passing through the station, after an hour went back to London Victoria and boarded an SouthEastern service to Herme Hill and met up with Toby Connor and Joseph Burrows and filmed some SouthEastern Class 465 and Class 375s with First Capital Connect Class 319s.
After filming at Herme Hill, boarded another SouthEastern service to get off at Petts Wood which was recommended by Toby Connor and filmed some more SouthEastern EMUs and also Battle of Britain Class 34067 Tangmere working the Golden Arrow Statesman from Derby but the locomotive was put on at Hanwell to Canterbury West, after filming at Petts Wood, went back to Herme Hill to change trains from SouthEastern Trains to First Capital Connect to Tulse Hill to filmed First Capital Connect class 319 and Southern Class 455s until it was time to leave and boarded a Southern Class 455 to Queens Road Peckham to film Southern Class 455s and London Overground Class 378s, during the time you could the London skyline in the background.
After an hour filming, boarded a London Overground Class 378 to Clapham Junction to change trains to a South West Trains Class 455 to Wimbledon but when I got there, there was a huge suprise waiting for me which was that they were fencing off the fast lines with a fence which filming was difficult but managed to get some footage of EMUs stopping and flying through, also at Wimbledon seen some D78 stock, S7 Stock and the C69/77 Stock which are nearly all withdrawn with a few in service on the District Line.
After leaving Wimbledon, went to London Waterloo which is where I left Toby Connor and Joseph Burrows which they went back home, while myself and Ian travel on the Waterloo and City Line to Bank worked by 1992 Tube Stock and then change onto the Central Line which is also worked by 1992 Tube Stock to London Liverpool Street and change onto a Greater Anglia Class 315 to Bethnal Green to film Class 90s and other EMUs including Class 321, Class 360, Class 315, Class 317 and Class 379.
After an hour left Bethnal Green and went back to London Liverpool Street on a Class 315, at London Liverpool Street to bet back on the Central Line to go across London to Shepherds Bush to get 34067 Tangmere on her run back from Canterbury West to Derby but the locomotive was to be taken off at Hanwell.
After getting the Steam Locomotive flying through and seeing the remains of smoke it left, went back to the Underground station and travel on the Central Line to West Ruislip to change transportation from Trains to buses, caught the U1 back to Uxbridge to end the show

This journey starts from Uxbridge and finishes in Uxbridge, this is a day in London, the first length is travelling down the Metropolitan Line to Baker Street on S8 Stock but at Finchley Road, decided to change trains and travel on 1996 Tube Stock to Green Park to change onto the Victoria Line 2009 Stock to London Victoria for the first bit, The Great Britain VII Railtour which started at London Victoria, worked by 34046 Braunton, after departure of the GBVII, went to find my train and traveled to Battersea Park to film some Southern and Gatwick Express EMUs stopping and passing through the station, after an hour went back to London Victoria and boarded an SouthEastern service to Herme Hill and met up with Toby Connor and Joseph Burrows and filmed some SouthEastern Class 465 and Class 375s with First Capital Connect Class 319s.
After filming at Herme Hill, boarded another SouthEastern service to get off at Petts Wood which was recommended by Toby Connor and filmed some more SouthEastern EMUs and also Battle of Britain Class 34067 Tangmere working the Golden Arrow Statesman from Derby but the locomotive was put on at Hanwell to Canterbury West, after filming at Petts Wood, went back to Herme Hill to change trains from SouthEastern Trains to First Capital Connect to Tulse Hill to filmed First Capital Connect class 319 and Southern Class 455s until it was time to leave and boarded a Southern Class 455 to Queens Road Peckham to film Southern Class 455s and London Overground Class 378s, during the time you could the London skyline in the background.
After an hour filming, boarded a London Overground Class 378 to Clapham Junction to change trains to a South West Trains Class 455 to Wimbledon but when I got there, there was a huge suprise waiting for me which was that they were fencing off the fast lines with a fence which filming was difficult but managed to get some footage of EMUs stopping and flying through, also at Wimbledon seen some D78 stock, S7 Stock and the C69/77 Stock which are nearly all withdrawn with a few in service on the District Line.
After leaving Wimbledon, went to London Waterloo which is where I left Toby Connor and Joseph Burrows which they went back home, while myself and Ian travel on the Waterloo and City Line to Bank worked by 1992 Tube Stock and then change onto the Central Line which is also worked by 1992 Tube Stock to London Liverpool Street and change onto a Greater Anglia Class 315 to Bethnal Green to film Class 90s and other EMUs including Class 321, Class 360, Class 315, Class 317 and Class 379.
After an hour left Bethnal Green and went back to London Liverpool Street on a Class 315, at London Liverpool Street to bet back on the Central Line to go across London to Shepherds Bush to get 34067 Tangmere on her run back from Canterbury West to Derby but the locomotive was to be taken off at Hanwell.
After getting the Steam Locomotive flying through and seeing the remains of smoke it left, went back to the Underground station and travel on the Central Line to West Ruislip to change transportation from Trains to buses, caught the U1 back to Uxbridge to end the show
