Alexandra Lioutikoff, a dynamic executive who was the longtime head of ASCAP’s Latin membership, has been appointed executive vice president, Latin music for Universal Music Group Publishing, Billboard has learned. Lioutikoff will be based in Miami and will head all UMPG’s U.S. Latin and Latin American operations, reporting to UMPG Chairman/CEO Jody Gerson and Evan Lamberg, president of UMPG North America.

Lioutikoff takes over the post vacated last year by John Echevarria, who took over as evp in 2012.

“[Alexandra’s] strong relationships with artists, songwriters, record labels and publishers have always impressed me, and her extensive experience in the complex world of Latin American societies is truly exceptional,” said Gerson in a statement.  “She is extremely passionate about Latin Music and will be a tremendous asset to our stellar roster of artists and writers.”

Lioutikoff has long been known as a vocal and influential executive in Latin music. A native of Spain, she joined ASCAP in 1998 as head of the organization’s Latin membership department, and gradually expanded the scope and reach of the operation in Latin music to include urban and Latin rock. A fierce advocate of Latin writers and artists, Lioutikoff has directly signed names like Lin Manuel Miranda, Ricardo Arjona, Joan Sebastian, Daddy Yankee, Mario Domm and Marco Antonio Solis to ASCAP.

One of Lioutikoff’s personal objectives has long been to increase multi-genre collaborations, particularly between Latin and mainstream genres. To that effect she launched ASCAP’s Song Camp Series, where Latin and mainstream writers work together. Lioutikoff also produced ASCAP’s annual Latin awards.

UMPG's roster of Latin writers includes Juanes, Chino y Nacho, KC Porter and Emilio Estefan's catalog, among many others.
