  12. The core of the hero/heroine's journey is about puberty, maturation, migration, new family formation. The gendered trappings came later.

  13. Monomyth is a coming-of-age narrative, so requires certain soc bio prerequisites. Childhood, play/training, adolescence, mating migration.

  14. Monomyth probably doesn't fit non-mammalian life forms, though.
