Peter Nero (born Bernard Nierow, May 22, 1934) is an American pianist and pops conductor.
Born in Brooklyn, New York, as Bernard Nierow, he started his formal music training at the age of seven. He studied piano under Frederick Bried. By the time he was fourteen, he was accepted to New York City's High School of Music and Art and won a scholarship to the Juilliard School of Music. Constance Keene, his teacher and mentor, once wrote in an issue of Keyboard Classics, "Vladimir Horowitz was Peter's greatest fan!" He graduated from Brooklyn College in 1956.
Nero recorded his first album under the name of Bernie Nerow in July 1957 under the Mode label MOD-LP117 which shows his technical virtuosity in the jazz genre.( I own the album). Nero recorded an album in 1961, and won a Grammy Award that year for "Best New Artist." Since then, he has received another Grammy, garnered ten additional nominations and released 67 albums. Nero's early association with RCA Victor produced 23 albums in eight years. His subsequent move to Columbia Records resulted in a million-selling single and album – Summer of '42.
Nero (/ˈnɪəroʊ/; Latin: Nerō Claudius Caesar Augustus Germanicus; 15 December 37 AD – 9 June 68 AD) was Roman Emperor from 54 to 68, and the last in the Julio-Claudian dynasty. Nero was adopted by his grand-uncle Claudius to become his heir and successor, and succeeded to the throne in 54 following Claudius' death.
Nero focused much of his attention on diplomacy, trade and enhancing the cultural life of the Empire, but according to the historian Tacitus he was viewed by the Roman people as compulsive and corrupt. He ordered theatres built and promoted athletic games. During his reign, the redoubtable general Corbulo conducted a successful war and negotiated peace with the Parthian Empire. His general Suetonius Paulinus crushed a revolt in Britain. Nero annexed the Bosporan Kingdom to the Empire and began the First Roman–Jewish War.
In 64 AD, most of Rome was destroyed in the Great Fire of Rome, which many Romans believed Nero himself had started in order to clear land for his planned palatial complex, the Domus Aurea. In 68, the rebellion of Vindex in Gaul and later the acclamation of Galba in Hispania drove Nero from the throne. Facing a false report of being denounced as a public enemy who was to be executed, he committed suicide on 9 June 68 (the first Roman emperor to do so). His death ended the Julio-Claudian Dynasty, sparking a brief period of civil wars known as the Year of the Four Emperors. Nero's rule is often associated with tyranny and extravagance. He is known for many executions, including that of his mother, and the probable murder by poison of his stepbrother Britannicus.
Taxi Driver is a 1976 American vigilante film with neo-noir and psychological thriller elements, directed by Martin Scorsese and written by Paul Schrader. Set in New York City following the Vietnam War, the film stars Robert De Niro, and features Jodie Foster, Harvey Keitel, Cybill Shepherd, Peter Boyle, and Albert Brooks.
The film is regularly cited by critics, film directors, and audiences alike as one of the greatest films of all time. Nominated for four Academy Awards, including Best Picture, it won the Palme d'Or at the 1976 Cannes Film Festival. The American Film Institute ranked Taxi Driver as the 52nd-greatest American film on its AFI's 100 Years...100 Movies (10th Anniversary Edition) list. In 2012, Sight & Sound named it the 31st-best film ever in its decennial critics' poll, ranked with The Godfather Part II, and the fifth-greatest film of all time on its directors' poll. The film was considered "culturally, historically or aesthetically" significant by the US Library of Congress and was selected for preservation in the National Film Registry in 1994.
Jennifer Lynn Lopez (born July 24, 1969), also known as J. Lo, is an American actress, author, fashion designer, dancer, producer, and singer. She became interested in pursuing a career in the entertainment industry following a minor role in the 1986 film My Little Girl, to the dismay of her Puerto Rican parents, who believed that it was an unrealistic career route for a Hispanic. Lopez gained her first regular high-profile job as a Fly Girl dancer on In Living Color in 1991, where she remained a regular until she decided to pursue an acting career in 1993. She received her first leading role in the Selena biopic of the same name in 1997. Lopez became the first Latina actress to earn over US$1 million for a role the following year, with the film Out of Sight. She ventured into the music industry in 1999 with her debut studio album, On the 6.
With the simultaneous release of her second studio album J.Lo and her film The Wedding Planner in 2001, Lopez became the first person to have a number one album and film in the same week. Her 2002 remix album, J to tha L–O! The Remixes, became the first in history to debut at number one on the U.S. Billboard 200, while her fifth studio album, Como Ama una Mujer (2007), received the highest first-week sales for a Spanish album in the United States. With past record sales of over 60 million and a cumulative film gross of over US$2 billion, Lopez is regarded as the most influential Hispanic performer in the United States, as well as its highest paid Latin entertainer. Along with Pitbull and Claudia Leitte, she recorded "We Are One (Ole Ola)", which served as the official song of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.

A live performance of Peter Deaves' interpretation of WH Auden's famous poem The Funeral Blues (Stop the Clocks). Filmed in Berkeley Books of Paris as part of the Ballads from a Bookshop series. The Ballads from a Bookshop series is simple: an acoustic set recorded in a crowded but quiet bookshop - the artists describes which book they would be an can talk about the inspiration behind their songs. Born in Liverpool, Peter Deaves is a folk and blues musician based in Paris, France. Growing up in one of the world’s most musical cities, music was always in his blood. However his journey onto the stages of Europe and America is an unlikely one, having dedicated many years of his life to political writing, research and campaigning. It was in 2013 - following years of political work cover...

So, after putting up my first vocal covers, next up on the list of scary things to do I might regret later, I present to you, my first ever original song heard by anyone else than myself. Slowly starting to write more songs, as I kind of like it, and maybe getting it out to even a few people will motivate me to write more, and get better. Lyrics: I've got a lot of secrets Nobody knows my heart Not even me, not even me Who's behind the smile? Who's behind the wall? Can you tell me anything at all? Afraid of being alone, afraid of the crowd Afraid of stepping up and talking aloud Afraid of being happy, afraid of myself Afraid of being alone, afraid of the crowd Afraid of stepping up and talking aloud Afraid of being happy, afraid of myself I come off happy, but inside my head I don't kno...
This was the 2nd take during my rehearsal with Paul Greenwood. The first take was done close to the original recording, but I much preferred the second take, as Paul slowed the arrangement a bit, and allowed me to deliver a more intimate reading. However, for some reason, I flubbed a major line, which, I'm sure, all the Dionne die-hards out there will notice. (I apologize in advance!) For this reason, --(and after kicking myself-) , as I've never EVER sung the song---in my entire life-- with that word before!)--- I decided to go with the 1st take demo. However, the more I listened to this 2nd take, the more I liked it--even with the flubbed line--- and thought I'd post it anyway. After all, this was rehearsal, so why not show what happens quite often during a typical rehearsal---mistake...

This is a live recording of Peter Nero on the occasion of George Gershwin's birthday. Peter decided to play The Man I Love as an encore along with references to just about every Gershwin tune you've ever heard. This is totally improvised. If you don't believe me just look at the other Man I Love videos I've posted. It's totally different every time. This rivals Oscar Peterson and others. Nobody plays like Peter Nero! SORRY for the poor quality, and for the cut. I had to cut out about 90 seconds of the orchestra playing to fit this on YouTube. It starts slow, but hang in there until he strides....and then double-time strides.

This is a live performance of "The Man I Love" by Peter Nero. This was his encore at the end of an appearance with a symphony. Except for the very end when the orchestra comes in, the entire piece is totally improvised. It's completely different every time he plays it. Sorry for the poor quality and the fact that it audio only, but I thought it was still worth posting. If you've ever seen Peter play this live you already know how incredible it is. Who else has such command of the instrument? This guy can play anything. He can play jazz like Oscar Peterson and play classical like Horowitz. In fact, he was Vladimir Horowitz's favorite pianist. Peter's got the serious piano chops. Ray Charles said "Art Tatum could play anything he wanted to...Oscar [Peterson] is my man...and Peter N...

Peter Nero warms up before a concert by playing Chopin Etude Op. 10 No. 4. You didn't know he was classically trained? This is just his warm up. He can play anything!
This score a reason I like 1960s film music so much. Full of sunshine and even though it's not quite legit jazz it swings like crazy with Nero in the dual role of composer pianist (Jack Pleis arranged some of Nero's music but I can't confirm that he worked on this score) The score challenges the music of contemporaries Johnny Williams, Lalo Schifrin Neal Hefti ~ the agility of a Legrand in full flight. Why Nero didn't capitalise on it is a mystery.but a resplendent career as a terrific pianist was consolation. July 2014 I'm glad to see this Peter Nero soundtrack picking up hits. it's worth mentioning even itf the condition of the vinyl is not the best ~ the music is the best Around that time 1964some great scores came our way.Neal Hefti's How to murder your Wife a plush score for...

An Audience with Peter Ustinov 1 Sensational anecdotes and witty observations as only Ustinov could supply.
Peter Ustinov as Nero from 1951 film "Quo Vadis". The musical composition's name is "Seikilos epitaph". Here are the lyrics he sings (thanks VeritasEtSeveritas): Oh, lambent flame Oh, force divine Oh, omnivorous power: Hail! None is there swifter to bring destruction, Yet carefree as a child Thou with wild breezes playing The old Troy shall be no more because of thee, Thou harvester that strips the soil For men to sow new crops Oh, lambent flames Oh, force divine Oh, omnivorous power Hail!
this is a clip from an interview with Nero Bellum.. he is playing guitar for the song, "Under The Judas Tree" from the album We The Fallen. This was recorded before its release. I love this fucking song!

The extraordinary and multi-talented film and stage actor Sir Peter Ustinov being interviewed by Selina Scott on the "Selina Scott Show" 1995
Here is a short clip of Sir Peter Ustinov on the Late Late Show.
ROSE:
Anything but lonely,
Anything but empty rooms.
There's so much in life to share --
What's the sense when no one else is there?
Anything but lonely,
Anything but only me.
Quiet years in too much space:
That's the thing that's hard to face,
And...
You have a right to go,
But you should also know
That I won't be alone for long.
Long days with nothing said
Are not what lie ahead --
I'm sorry, but I'm not that strong.
Anything but lonely,
Anything but passing time.
Lonely's what I'll never be,
While there's still some life in me,
And...
I'm still young, don't forget,
It isn't over yet --
So many hearts for me to thrill.
If you're not here to say
How good I look each day,
I'll have to find someone who will.
Anything but lonely,
Anything but empty rooms.
There's so much in life to share --
What's the sense when no one else is
there...?
Just promise one thing.
ALEX:
All right.
What is it?
ROSE:
Don't ask me questions...
You must promise first...
ALEX:
I can't
I must know what it is.
ROSE:
Don't leave me!
