Organ donation is the donation of biological tissue or an organ of the human body from a living or dead person to a living recipient in need of a transplantation. Transplantable organs and tissues are removed in a surgical procedure following a determination, based on the donor's medical and social history, of which are suitable for transplantation. Such procedures are termed allotransplantations, distinguish them from xenotransplantation, the transfer of animal organs into human bodies. As of June 21, 2013, there are 118,617 people waiting for life-saving organ transplants in the U.S. Of these, 96,645 await kidney transplants. While views of organ donation are positive there is a large gap between the numbers of registered donors compared to those awaiting organ donations on a global level.
The youngest organ donor was a baby with anencephaly, born in 2015, who lived for only 100 minutes and donated his kidneys to an adult with renal failure. In the same year, researchers from the Ganogen Research Institute transplanted human fetal kidneys from therapeutic abortions, including from fetuses with anencephaly, into animals for future transplantation into human patients. The animals were able to survive on the human kidney alone, demonstrating both function and growth of the human organ.
"The Man" is a slang phrase that may refer to the government or to some other authority in a position of power. In addition to this derogatory connotation, it may also serve as a term of respect and praise.
The phrase "the Man is keeping me down" is commonly used to describe oppression. The phrase "stick it to the Man" encourages resistance to authority, and essentially means "fight back" or "resist", either passively, openly or via sabotage.
As a phrase meaning "the boss" it dates from at least 1918.
In the Southern U.S. states, the phrase came to be applied to any man or any group in a position of authority, or to authority in the abstract. From about the 1950s the phrase was also an underworld code word for police, the warden of a prison or other law enforcement or penal authorities.
The use of this term was expanded to counterculture groups and their battles against authority, such as the Yippies, which, according to a May 19, 1969 article in U.S. News and World Report, had the "avowed aim ... to destroy 'The Man', their term for the present system of government". The term eventually found its way into humorous usage, such as in a December 1979 motorcycle ad from the magazine Easyriders which featured the tagline, "California residents: Add 6% sales tax for The Man."

Three people die every day in the UK while awaiting an organ transplant and to tackle the problem the government is reviewing how donation works. A donor currently has to make it known that their organs can be used after their death -- the so-called opt-in system. But now an opt-out system under which your organs can be used unless you expressly ask for them not to be is being considered. This approach should increase the availability of organs for lifesaving transplants but is the concept of presumed consent simply presuming too much? The issue is a hugely controversial one, due to sensitivities relating to religion and cultural practices, but those in favour of an opt-out system believe the facts are simple -- if it can save more lives, then it should be brought in by the government. Birth of a New Earth TV -- Jeanice Barcelo interviews Dr. Paul Byrne, board certified pediatrician and neonatal and perinatal medicine specialist. Dr. Byrne is a filmmaker and the author of numerous articles on "brain death," organ transplantation, anti-euthanasia, anti-abortion, and more. Dr. Byrne reveals the shadow side of modern medicine and shares important information about the concept of "brain death" which, he said, is a fictional term and not indicative of death at all. The term has been created to legalize the removal of healthy organs from LIVING people, who are paralyzed while they are having their hearts and other organs taken out of their bodies, but who are given no anesthesia. This is the same thing happening to infants in neonatal intensive care units, where babies are oft...

Francis Delmonico, MD, FACS, Professor of Surgery at Harvard University, gives an international perspective on the ethics of organ donation and transplantation. Organ transplantation raises almost every important medical ethical issue, including: standards for determining death, informed consent, the fair allocation of scarce resources, research on human subjects, global health concerns, and more. The MacLean Center's Seminar Series has examined Ethical Issues in Organ Transplantation. This year's interdisciplinary seminar series was organized by Mark Siegler, MD, Director of the MacLean Center. The seminars are cosponsored ...
