Donald Cerrone

Donald Anthony Cerrone (/sᵻˈroʊni/; born March 29, 1983) is an American professional mixed martial artist and former professional kickboxer currently competing in the UFC's lightweight division. As of August 17, 2015, he is #2 in the official UFC lightweight rankings. A professional competitor since 2006, Cerrone has also formerly competed for the WEC. Cerrone currently holds the record for most post-fight bonuses (Fight/Performance of the Night, Knockout/Submissions of the Night) in UFC/WEC history with 15. He is also known as the "busiest" fighter in the UFC, due to consistently having at least 4 fights per year since 2013.

Background

Cerrone was born in Denver, Colorado. Energetic and troubled in his youth, Cerrone was diagnosed with Attention Deficit Disorder at a young age and would often get into fights as he was growing up. Cerrone attended Air Academy High School which is when he began professional bull riding and it is during this time that his parents divorced, causing Cerrone to live with his grandparents. In his sophomore year, Cerrone was introduced to kickboxing by a friend, and compiled an undefeated amateur record of 13-0. Cerrone, who later also began training in Muay Thai, later turned professional, compiling an undefeated record of 28-0 with 18 first-round knockout wins, before transitioning into mixed martial arts.

Cerrone

Marc Cerrone (born 1952 in Vitry-sur-Seine, near Paris, France) is a French disco drummer, composer, record producer and creator of major concert shows. Cerrone is considered as one of the most influential disco producers of the 70s and 80s in Europe.

He has sold over 30 million records worldwide, including over four million copies in France alone and eight million copies of Supernature, which is considered his magnum opus. The single "Love in C Minor" (1976) reached No. 3 and stayed on record charts for over two months, chalking up sales of three million copies. With "Supernature" (1977), Cerrone merged symphonic orchestrations with the rigid sounds of synthesizers. At the 1978 Billboard Disco Forum, Cerrone took home six awards including Disco Artist of the Year.

In addition to Love in C Minor, Cerrone's Paradise and Supernature, Marc Cerrone enjoyed success in Europe with albums such as Cerrone IV: The Golden Touch (1978), Where Are You Now (1983), The Collector (1985), Human Nature (1994) and more recently with the dance albums Hysteria (2002) and Celebrate (2007).

Joe Rogan

Joseph James "Joe" Rogan (born August 11, 1967) is an American podcaster, sports commentator, and stand up comedian. Rogan is the host of his own podcast titled The Joe Rogan Experience, a weekly talk show where he converses with people from various backgrounds. Also a comedian, he began performing stand up comedy in 1989 and still performs regular tours to this day. Rogan has worked for the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) since 1997, and is now a color commentator for the promotion. In addition, Rogan has had roles on the television sitcoms Hardball and NewsRadio and was the host of reality shows Fear Factor and Joe Rogan Questions Everything.

Early life

Rogan was born in Newark, New Jersey. He was raised in Newton Upper Falls, Massachusetts until age seven, followed by San Francisco, California until age 11, and then Gainesville, Florida. He is of one quarter Irish and three quarters Italian descent. Rogan's father, a police officer in Newark, has not been in contact with him since Rogan was six years old. He briefly attended the University of Massachusetts Boston.

Jorge Masvidal

Jorge Masvidal (born November 12, 1984) is an American mixed martial artist currently competing in the UFC's lightweight division. A professional MMA competitor since 2003, Masvidal has also competed for Bellator, Strikeforce, Shark Fights, and World Victory Road. As of August 17, 2015, Masvidal is #15 in the official UFC lightweight rankings.

Background

Born and raised in Miami, Florida, to a Cuban father and Peruvian mother, Masvidal was often involved in street fighting from a young age. Masvidal later competed in high school wrestling, but failed to stay eligible because of his grades, and then began training in mixed martial arts.

Early career

Jorge won his kickboxing debut by unanimous decision on April 11, 2003, at a Fast and Fearless event. Masvidal's most high profile victory came in the main event of the Absolute Fighting Championships XXII event held on April 30, 2005. The fight was against current UFC competitor and The Ultimate Fighter 5 contestant Joe Lauzon, who came in undefeated at eight wins and no losses with all eight wins by way of submission. Jorge won via Technical Knock Out in the second round with a flurry of punches.

Ultimate Fighting Championship

The Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is a mixed martial arts promotion company. It is the largest in the world and features most of the top-ranked fighters in the sport. Based in the United States, the UFC produces events worldwide that showcase ten weight divisions and abide by the Unified Rules of Mixed Martial Arts. The UFC has held over 300 events to date. Dana White serves as the president of the UFC while brothers Frank and Lorenzo Fertitta control the UFC's parent company, Zuffa, LLC.

The first Ultimate Fighting Championship event was held on November 12, 1993 at the McNichols Sports Arena in Denver, Colorado. The purpose of the early Ultimate Fighting Championship competitions were to identify the most effective martial art in a fight, with minimal rules, between competitors of different fighting disciplines, including boxing, Brazilian jiu-jitsu, Sambo, wrestling, Muay Thai, karate, judo, and other styles. In subsequent competitions, fighters began adopting effective techniques from more than one discipline, which indirectly helped create an entirely separate style of fighting known as present-day mixed martial arts.
