Sliding-door garage storage cabinet. Easy woodworking project to organize your shop.
Sliding-door garage storage cabinet. Easy woodworking project to organize your shop.
January is a great time of year to do a little organizing. Now that the holidays are over you might want to take some time to build this simple garage storage cabinet. Its shelves are shallow enough to prevent multiple layers of junk from accumulating, yet deep enough to store most stuff. Twisted Christmas Tree - A Holiday Woodworking Project
Twisted Christmas Tree - A Holiday Woodworking Project
http://www.thecarmichaelworkshop.com Santa joined me in the shop and we made a wooden Twisted Christmas Tree! It's made from unfinished cedar so it even smells like a Christmas tree. Below is a Parts List with basic instructions if you would like to build one of your own. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays from The Carmichael Workshop. Parts List: 50 Cedar Strips 3/4" wide x 3/8" thick x 14-1/8" long 2-Piece Stand 10" wide x 3.5" tall 1 3/8" Hardwood Dowel 26" long 1 Star Steps: 1. Cut cedar strips in pairs starting at 14", decreasing by 1/4" length for each pair. Save all pieces after cutting. 2. Cut 3/4" dado half laps in the center of each piece. (Be sure to do a test fit first.) 3. Assemble stand and dowel rod. (Note that dowel rod thickness can vary from the store so always drill a test hole for a test fit.) 4. Cross-lap each pair of cedar strips in the middle and drill a 3/8" hole through the center, then slide it onto the dowel rod. Continue until at the top of the tree. (Again, drill a hole in a test piece and do a test fit.) 5. Drill a 3/8" hole in the base of the star and slide it on top. Note that you may need to cut the dowel rod to fit. Super High Gloss Table from Tree Limb Repurposing Reclaiming prepper Woodworking UV CURE RESIN
This Super High Gloss wood table was created from a spalted tree limb that fell in our yard. Hurricane Debbie in 2012 caused a small F-0 tornado to take an entire tree down and we saved about 20% of the wood. The remaining wood was mulched. The UV cure resin info is on our website.- published: 17 Sep 2013

How to Build a Woodworking Air Filter/Purifier for $100 Part 1
How to Build a Woodworking Air Filter/Purifier for $100 Part 1
I decided against buying one of the popular $300-400 air filters for my wood shop. Instead I purchased a 8" 800cfm blower (that I previously used to convert a window AC to a indoor AC but that's another story). I then built a cabinet to hold the blower and a 20x25x1 furnace filter. Dust collectors are OK but they don't really filter fine dust. The smallest (and most irritating dust) always gets through the bags. Not to mention the stuff the dust filter doesn't catch in the first place from the table saw, router or sander. That's where an air filter like this helps out in a big way by trapping all the fine dust particles. This particular unit I built will take the air from a thick haze of dust to completely clean in about a minute in the 12x15 room I have my table saw in. The filters do get clogged up if I'm sanding for a while but I've found I can take them outside and blow them off from the backside with my air hose and they're reusable for at least 5 times. After about 5 times of blowing them off the filters I've been using seem to loose their effectiveness and should be replaced. This is hands down one of the most useful things I've made, you don't know how much you need it until you have it in use. My breakdown of costs: 8" 800cfm Blower - $60 shipped from ebay auction Three quarters of a sheet of 3/4" 7 ply Arauco Pine plywood - $25 First Air filter - $4 99 cent cans of spray paint and clear coat $5 electrical handy box and switch $5- published: 03 Jan 2014
