Appendicitis (also called epityphlitis) is inflammation of the appendix. Appendicitis commonly presents with right iliac fossa abdominal pain, nausea, vomiting, and decreased appetite. However, one third to a half of persons do not have these typical signs and symptoms. Severe complications of a ruptured appendix include widespread, painful inflammation of the inner lining of the abdominal wall and sepsis.
Appendicitis is caused by a blockage of the hollow portion of the appendix, most commonly by a calcified "stone" made of feces. However, inflamed lymphoid tissue from a viral infection, parasites, gallstone, or tumors may also cause the blockage. This blockage leads to increased pressures within the appendix, decreased blood flow to the tissues of the appendix, and bacterial growth inside the appendix causing inflammation. The combination of inflammation, reduced blood flow to the appendix and distention of the appendix causes tissue injury and tissue death. If this process is left untreated, the appendix may burst, releasing bacteria into the abdominal cavity, leading to severe abdominal pain and increased complications.

What is appendicitis? Appendicitis is inflammation of the appendix, a small, potentially vestigial organ that branches off the large intestine. Inflammation is usually a result of some sort of obstruction in the lumen of the appendix, which ultimately leads to infection. Subscribe - https://goo.gl/w5aaaV. More videos - https://goo.gl/UhOKiM. This video is a step-by-step approach to the technique of laparoscopic appendicectomy in general, but more so in the unconventional situation of unexpected appendix mass. Appendix mass is traditionally treated with antibiotics until the mass resolves, and the patient is then brought back to hospital at a later date, usually 2-3 months, for an elective interval appendicectomy. However, in this case, a mass was not possible to feel at the time of admission to hospital, due to marked tenderness and guarding. Fortunately, with careful dissection, it was possible to successfully remove the badly inflamed appendix having managed to safely free it off the surrounding structures forming the mass around it. And at the same time causing no harm to these same structures. The key steps taken during ...

This video is about November 12, 2014 "Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah." When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, "Brothers, what shall we do?" Peter replied, "Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off - for all whom the Lord our God will call." -Acts 2:36-39 You can also follow us on: FaceBook @ https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100004113737359
Appendicitis review of the causes, symptoms, complications (perforation, abscess, peritonitis), pathophysiology, and nursing care for the NCLEX exam. Appendicitis is the inflammation of the appendix. Where is the appendix? It is found on the right lower side of the abdomen and connects to the cecum of the large intestine (it looks like a protruding worm or finger-like structure coming out of the large intestine (specifically the ascending colon). The role of the appendix is to store the "good" bacteria in your GI tract while the tract is recovering from a diarrhea illness (so it helps maintain healthy GI flora). Appendicitis can be caused from an obstruction (fecalith...hard piece of feces, parasites...worms, enlarged lymph nodes) or trauma/injury. When appendicitis occurs, the lumen of th...
