Entry from: Røros, Norway Entry Title: "A quick one!" Entry: "As you know, I am in Northern Norway on my week-long excursion. So far it has been a lot of fun. I am currently in Trondheim, but I am just going to say that I am in Røros for fun (and so I can get a little pin on my map of Norway!) We left bright and early on Monday morning and took a train from Hamar to Røros. The scenery was beautiful! I really enjoyed the trip and we all just sat around and talked. When we stepped off the train and it was cold. I was really surprised. It was warm enough that I did not need to whip out my gloves, hat, and scarf, but it was a big difference compared to Hamar. I think just because Hamar is by the water and Røros is in the middle of Norway. Røros is mainly a historical town. It has a little under 5,000 inhabitants (if I am remembering right) and also has the remains of the coal industry. There are huge piles of rocks leftover and it really is not very attractive, but it explains a lot of how Røros is. We had a guided tour all around and learned a lot about the houses, how they were built, and how to tell the difference between a rich family house compared to a poor family house. Our hotel was just up the hill, it was very cute. The rooms were large, but the bathrooms were out in the hall. Just like a normal house. We had lunch and breakfast the next day. Mostly just sandwiches, meat, WAFFLES and coffee. We only stayed for one night. The next morning, we woke up and ate breakfast at 7 and at 8, we had to wait for the bus to take us to Heimdal, our next stop. I will have to tell you about Heimdal and the rest of the trip later because I have to head off with the group to meet up with Inger at the Cathedral for the next part of our day.
