D'eux

D'eux (meaning Of Them or About Them or From Them and homophonic with "deux", meaning "two") is a French-language studio album by the Canadian singer Celine Dion, released by Sony Music Entertainment on 30 March 1995 in Canada and on 3 April 1995 in France. It was issued in other countries in the following months. D'eux was preceded by the lead single, "Pour que tu m'aimes encore". The album was mainly written and produced by French singer-songwriter, Jean-Jacques Goldman. D'eux garnered favorable reviews from music critics and became the best-selling French-language album of all time, with sales of ten million copies.

Background, release and content

D'eux was recorded in the Mega Studio in Paris, France, in November and December 1994. Jean-Jacques Goldman, a popular French singer and songwriter, wrote and produced eleven songs on the album. One track, "Cherche encore", was written by Erick Benzi. The album includes a duet with Goldman on "J'irai où tu iras", two successful singles "Pour que tu m'aimes encore" and "Je sais pas", and a song dedicated to Dion's niece who had died of cystic fibrosis, "Vole". The latter three tracks were recorded later in English as "If That's What It Takes", "I Don't Know" and "Fly" respectively, and were included on Dion's next album, Falling into You. D'eux was released on 30 March 1995 in Canada and on 3 April 1995 in France. It was also issued in other European countries between April and November 1995, and in the United States in May 1995. D'eux was also released in January 1996 in New Zealand, and in October 1996 in Japan. Dion's 2007 album title, D'elles, refers to D'eux, being the specifically feminine version.

Tour de France

The Tour de France (French pronunciation: ​[tuʁ də fʁɑ̃s]) is an annual multiple stage bicycle race primarily held in France, while also occasionally making passes through nearby countries. The race was first organized in 1903 to increase paper sales for the magazine L'Auto; it is currently run by the Amaury Sport Organisation. The race has been held annually since its first edition in 1903 except when it was stopped for the two World Wars. As the Tour gained prominence and popularity the race was lengthened and its reach began to extend around the globe. Participation expanded from a primarily French field, as riders from all over the world began to participate in the race each year. The Tour is a UCI World Tour event, which means that the teams that compete in the race are mostly UCI WorldTeams, with the exception of the teams that the organizers invite.

The Tour de France, the Giro d'Italia and Vuelta a España make up cycling's prestigious, three-week-long Grand Tours; the Tour is the oldest and generally considered the most prestigious of the three. Traditionally, the race is held primarily in the month of July. While the route changes each year, the format of the race stays the same with the appearance of time trials, the passage through the mountain chains of the Pyrenees and the Alps, and the finish on the Champs-Élysées in Paris. The modern editions of the Tour de France consist of 21 day-long segments (stages) over a 23-day period and cover around 3,500 kilometres (2,200 mi). The race alternates between clockwise and counterclockwise circuits of France.

Marco Pantani

Marco Pantani (Italian pronunciation: [ˈmarko panˈtaːni]; 13 January 1970 – 14 February 2004) was an Italian road racing cyclist, widely considered one of the best climbers of his era in professional road bicycle racing. He won both the Tour de France and the Giro d'Italia in 1998, being the sixth Italian after Ottavio Bottecchia, Gino Bartali, Fausto Coppi, Felice Gimondi and Gastone Nencini to win the Tour de France. He is the last cyclist, and one of the only seven, to win the Giro and the Tour in the same year.

Pantani's attacking style and aggressive riding turned him into a fan favorite in the late 1990s. He was known as "Il Pirata" (English: "The pirate") because of his shaved head and the bandana and earrings he always wore. At 1.72 m and 57 kg, he had the classic build for a mountain climber. His style contrasted with that of time-trialling experts such as the five-times Tour winner Miguel Indurain.

Although Pantani never tested positive during his career, his career was beset by doping allegations. In the 1999 Giro d'Italia, he was expelled due to his irregular blood values. Although he was disqualified for "health reasons", it was implied that Pantani's high haematocrit was the product of EPO use. Following later accusations, Pantani went into a depression from which he never fully recovered. He died of acute cocaine poisoning in 2004.

D'eux Tour

The D'eux Tour is the sixth concert tour by Celine Dion. The tour was organized to support the highly successful French language album D'eux.

History

After 5 concerts in Quebec City, Canada, Celine toured Europe for 4 month. Celine crossed 11 countries and gave 42 sold out concerts, among which 9 in Paris, France, most in rooms of at least 14,000 seats. One of the opening acts was made by the group The Corrs (in the United Kingdom and Ireland). During one of the spectacles at the Zenith de Paris Celine broke her voice.

Emmanuel Macron

Emmanuel Macron (born 21 December 1977 in Amiens) is a French senior official, politician and former investment banker. On 26 August 2014 he was appointed as the Minister of Economy, Industry and Digital Affairs in the Second Valls Government.

Early life and education

Macron is the son of Jean-Michel Macron, Professor of Neurology at the University of Picardy, and Françoise Macron-Noguès, MD. He was close to his grandmother, a school headmistress who had grown up in an illiterate household, and lived with her for some time. He studied piano for ten years.

He was educated for some years at the Jesuit-founded lycée La Providence in Amiens before he continued at the élite high school Lycée Henri-IV in Paris. He studied Philosophy at the University of Paris-Ouest Nanterre La Défense, obtaining a DEA degree. He worked as an assistant for Paul Ricoeur between 1999 and 2001 where he helped edit Ricoeur's book La Mémoire, l'histoire, l'oubli. He also obtained a degree in Public Affairs at Sciences Po, before training for a senior civil service career at the École nationale d'administration (ENA), graduating in 2004.
