Liqueurs are alcoholic beverages that are bottled with added sugar and have added flavors that are usually derived from fruits, herbs, or nuts. Liqueurs are distinct from eaux-de-vie, fruit brandy, and flavored liquors, which contain no added sugar. Most liqueurs range between 15% and 55% alcohol by volume.
Coffee is a brewed drink prepared from roasted coffee beans, which are the seeds of berries from the Coffea plant. The plant is native to subtropical Africa and some islands in southern Asia. The plant was exported from Africa to countries around the world and coffee plants are now cultivated in over 70 countries, primarily in the equatorial regions of the Americas, Southeast Asia, India, and Africa. The two most commonly grown are the highly regarded arabica, and the less sophisticated but stronger and more hardy robusta. Once ripe, coffee beans are picked, processed, and dried. Dried coffee beans are roasted to varying degrees, depending on the desired flavor. Roasted beans are ground and brewed to produce coffee as a beverage.
Coffee is slightly acidic and can have a stimulating effect on humans because of its caffeine content. Coffee is one of the most popular drinks in the world. It can be prepared and presented in a variety of ways (e.g., espresso, cappuccino, cafe latte, etc.). It is usually served hot, although iced coffee is also served. Clinical studies indicate that moderate coffee consumption is benign or mildly beneficial in healthy adults, with continuing research on whether long-term consumption inhibits cognitive decline during aging or lowers the risk of some forms of cancer.
White Russian may refer to:
Espresso Martini is a coffee flavored drink, one of many that are called some form of Martini but isn't actually one. It is made with coffee liqueur and vodka.
Espresso Martini is made by mixing Vodka, Kahlua, sugar syrup and Chilled Espresso in a cocktail shaker filled with ice. It is then shaken and strained in a chilled martini glass. It is garnished with coffee beans and served. Chilled espresso adds caffeine to the drink.
There are several claims for the origin of the espresso martini. One of the more common claims is that it was created by Dick Bradsell in 1983 while at the Brasserie Soho in London for a woman who asked for something that would "wake me up, and then fuck me up". According to Dick Bradsell, "The coffee machine at the Soho Brasseries was right next to the station where I served drinks. It was a nightmare, as there were coffee grounds everywhere, so coffee was very much on my mind. And it was all about vodka back then – it was all people were drinking."

When we started this process of figuring out how to make coffee liqueur at home, we found most of the recipes were too sweet, and lacked complexity of flavour. They all had only one note - and it was weak coffee flavoured vodka. It just didn't work for us. So we started with fresh dark roasted coffee beans that we gently smashed in a mortar and pestle. We then added ½ a vanilla bean, and bathed this in 151º over proof rum. You really want to layer flavour over flavour, and the higher alcohol helps dissolve more of the oils in the coffee - it also keeps the final product from being to cloyingly sweet when you dilute it later with simple syrup. Rounding out the complex flavour profile is a cinnamon stick, some orange peel, and crushed cocoa nibs. The Dude would be proud! Ingredients: 2 c...

Today we take our Nomiku Immersion Circulator to create a homemade coffee bitters recipe. We took a recipe found at ForkandStave and altered it a bit for our own taste profile. For your creation, you can also make slight alterations or additions to build upon this and create even more dynamic flavor, maybe some hot spice? You can use coffee bitters to balance out a coffee cocktail or to enhance a bourbon-based recipe like the Old-Fashioned. You may find other creative uses for it, including using it as a generalized aromatic bitter if you're short on other options. The goal with this sous vide coffee bitter recipe was to both generate a fast and effective coffee bitter (in under 2-hours) while also giving you a chance to build your "production environment" to produce even more home craf...

We start the week out with an eye opener of a cocktail build: The Absturzlösung or "Pass out" cocktail brings together a bunch of ingredients seemly just to do it. But, in the end, it turns out that these unlikely heroes all work together well. We believe perhaps the Passion Fruit juice really brings the juice intensity to a sweet spot on the palate while also being a bit more unique and different. Today we taste a number of orange liqueurs to figure out if there are any that really stand out while also theorizing over what flavors may work well in what style of cocktail. We focus a bit on some of the sharper more distinct zesty notes or fleshy notes that occur in many of the orange liqueur. The products on the table include: Licor 43, Triplum, Solerno, Cointreau, Patron Citronge, Bols Blue Curacao, Combier, Senior Curacao (Blue and Clear), Gran Gala, Grand Marnier, Tuaca, Dekuyper O3.
