Mehdi Hassan Khan (Urdu: مہدی حسن خان ) is a Pakistani ghazal singer and a former playback singer for Lollywood. He is famously known as the 'King of ghazal' (Urdu: شہنشاہِ غزل). He has ruled the Pakistan film industry along with Ahmed Rushdi. He was honoured with Tamgha-e-Imtiaz, Pride of Performance and Hilal-e-Imtiaz by the Government of Pakistan, and Gorkha Dakshina Bahu by the Government of Nepal.
Mehdi Hassan was born on 18 July 1934 in a village called Luna in Rajasthan, India into a family of traditional musicians. He claims to be the 16th generation of hereditary musicians hailing from the Kalawant clan of musicians. Mehdi Hassan had his musical grooming from his father Ustad Azeem Khan and uncle Ustad Ismail Khan who were both traditional Dhrupad singers. Hassan started to perform at a young age and the first concert of dhrupad and kheyal with his elder brother is reported to have been held in Fazilka Bungla, near present DC House (1935) of Undivided Punjab. After the Partition of India, 20-year-old Hassan and his family migrated to Pakistan and suffered severe financial hardships.

William "Bill" Maher, Jr. (
/ˈmɑːr/; born January 20, 1956) is an American stand-up comedian, television host, political commentator, author, and actor. Before his current role as the host of HBO's Real Time with Bill Maher, Maher hosted a similar late-night talk show called Politically Incorrect originally on Comedy Central and later on ABC.
Maher is known for his political satire and sociopolitical commentary, which targets a wide swath of topics including religion, politics, bureaucracies of many kinds, political correctness, the mass media, greed among people and persons in positions of high political and social power, and the lack of intellectual curiosity in the electorate. He supports the legalization of marijuana and same-sex marriage, and serves on the board of PETA. He is also a critic of religion and is an advisory board member of Project Reason, a foundation to promote scientific knowledge and secular values within society. In 2005, Maher ranked at number 38 on Comedy Central's 100 greatest stand-up comedians of all time. Bill Maher received a Hollywood Walk of Fame star on September 14, 2010.

Plot: Amir is an illegal Pakistani immigrant smuggled into England in the 1960's to work, to send money to his family and perhaps even bring them over with him. A skilled laborer, he is forced to do unskilled work like shoveling sheep dung and processing wool. He lives in a boarding house with nearly a dozen other men, under the supervision of Hussein Shah. This particular album has two of the most noted Ghazal ustads singing together in a concert. The first artist is Mehdi Hassan who is fondly known as the Ghazal King. Mehdi Hassan was born in Rajasthan in India but his family along with him moved to Pakistan after partition. Mehdi Hassan is well known for his typical style of singing which infused Thumri, Khayal, Dadra, Dhrupad all the genres. Mehdi Hassan was known for creating atmospheric effects through his singing. Mehdi Hassan was also a noted playback singer and sang for lot of films. In this live album he has sung one very popular Ghazal “Ranjish Hi Sahi”. The taankari and voice modulation in this song is almost unbelievable.
The other noted Ghazal artist in this album is Ghulam Ali. Ghulam Ali was born in Punjab district of British India which is now in Pakistan. He is often mistaken with the legendary Bade Ghulam Ali Khan Sahib of whom he was a disciple. He is fondly known as chhote Ghulam Ali. Ghulam Ali started his playback career with B.R. Chopra’s film Nikaah which released in 1982. He is quite a popular singer in the entire South Asian Diaspora. In this album Ghulam Ali has sung some very popular Ghazals one of which is “Baharon Ko Chaman Yaad”. This one is a typical soulful Ghulam Ali rendition. This album is a rare collection of ghazals and historically unique because it is Mehdi Hassan Ghulam Ali Live First time.
