Know how binaural beats work. To listen to a binaural beat, you would use headphones to pipe sound to each ear. Each tone will be at a slightly different frequency, resulting in the "beat" you perceive. The difference in Hertz (Hz) between the sounds determines the effect on brainwaves. Delta brainwaves(0.1 to 3.5 Hz deep sleep ) This is the slowest band of waves that our brains produce and they occur when we are in deep, dreamless sleep. These waves are very beneficial for the body which restores and heals itself when in this state. The delta state releases anti-aging hormones, including melatonin and DHEA. Human growth hormone (HGH) is another anti-aging hormone that is increased when delta brainwaves are occurring inside the brain, due to the stimulation of the pituitary gland. HGH maintains the skin, bone density, cartilage, and the joints in your body as well as speeds up the healing process of joint and cartilage injuries. HGH can also help heal physical pain. In healthy amounts, delta brainwaves can also cause a person to have an advanced state of empathy, understanding, and compassion for others. Delta is the place of deepest relaxation, deepest healing, deepest spiritual connection and deepest connection with the subconscious mind. It is considered to be the gateway to the unconscious mind and the collective unconscious, bringing access to the universal psyche or mind. What are the benefits of modifying our brainwaves? In general, we are accustomed to being in the beta brain rhythm. We are in a Beta brainwave pattern when we are consciously alert. It is the default and dominant brainwave for most of us most of the time. We are in Beta when we feel agitated, tense, hurried, pressured, afraid and stressed. The frequencies range from 13 to 60 pulses per second in the Hertz scale. When we alter our brain rhythm to alpha, we are slowing our brainwaves down. The benefit of this is that we put ourselves in the ideal brain state for optimal performance and super learning. We become better at analysing complex situations, learning new information, memorising data, and performing elaborate tasks, Some forms of meditation, relaxation exercises, and activities that enable a sense of calm, also naturally create this alpha state. According to neuroscientists, the effect of decreasing the brain rhythm from beta to alpha via deep relaxation techniques and the use of binaural beats brain entrainemnt, changes the levels of certain beneficial brain chemicals. Studies show that alpha states significantly increase beta-endorphin, noroepinephrine and dopamine. These naturally occurring chemicals are linked to feelings of expanded mental clarity and generate an internal environment for new learning and accessing previously learned information. This positive effect lasts for hours and even days. As you may know, entraining your brainwaves can be a highly effective method for personal growth. Different brainwave states will produce differnt results for you. Delta Brain Waves – Need to Know 1) It can be hard to remain conscious in this state, so it’s very mysterious as to what our brains are actually up to when they are producing delta waves. 2) It is our LOWEST level of brain wave activity – any lower and we are “brain dead”. Ahem. 3) Many people believe that delta brain waves provide access to God, “Infinite Intelligence”, or the “Collective Unconscious” mind. Google it and have a look for yourself, before dismissing it out of hand :) 4) In the final stages of pregnancy, the baby in the womb has delta brain waves as its dominant state. That baby will be pretty damn chilled out. Nice. 5) During infancy, from around 3 months to 1 year (approximately – there’s a few conflicting studies here) delta brain waves are the dominant level of brain wave activity. I can’t really remember too much of that period, personally, so I’ll take their word for it. 6) Before we die, delta brain waves are the final waves that we produce. Erm… nice to know, I suppose. 7) We get delta waves when we are in a deep, non-dreaming sleep. There are some claims that it is possible to reach this state and remain conscious in delta. I don’t think I’ve managed it yet, but if you’re up for a challenge, check them out and have a go yourself. This is the level that even Zen Masters reportedly find difficult to maintain, so you’ll be out-Zen’ing the pros if you manage to pull it off. 8) It is a seemingly unconscious state – there is very little recall of memory from people who have been experiencing delta brain waves. It’s like we’re just off somewhere else… 9) It is linked with production of human growth hormone, serotonin, DHEA and lots of other “good” chemicals in the body, which binaural beats and isochronic tones are also good at doing so too.
