Windows 8.1 Low Screen Resolution Fix

Windows 8.1 Upgrade changes the PC settings within the display section. This caused a lot of programs to run at a scaled down or otherwise degraded resolution. DPI scaling was poorly done by Windows and has caused many issues. This is how you fix it! Please comment with your make and model to help narrow down this issue. Something to do with the motherboard and how Microsoft Windows recognizes the display. I have spoken with a windows tech and this problem may be fixed in future updates. The Metro Start area is changed also for which I have a video as well. ***Update*** 12/20/2013 - Maikel0230 has informed me that this is also happening largely on Asus and Toshiba branded products as well. Investigation is underway. ***Update*** 3/10/2014 - You may have to set it to small after you have completed the fix and then set it to medium again. Sometimes it sets it to something else even though it clearly has medium selected. I have no idea what's going on there. So if it doesn't work the first try, set it to small then medium again. ***Update*** 6/29/2014 - Still a persisting issue. Disabling scaling all-together seems to fix all issues. ***Update*** 8/15/2014 - User "Mitch Conner" says to avoid scaling all together, right-click the program .exe (chrome.exe) and then select "Properties" then navigate to compatibility and lastly select "Disable display scaling on high DPI settings" Share with your friends!
