If Culturedog Sam Hatch were to find himself stranded in an Antarctic science outpost with a crew of paranoid frenemies and an unfrozen shape-shifting alien – he wouldn’t care much as long as he had a computer chess game and a handful of John Carpenter films to pass the time. But if he were forced to only bring five Carpenter films, the 1982 pseudo-remake of the 1951 Christian Nyby Red Scare sci-fi/horror classic “The Thing” (From Another World!) would absolutely make the cut. More than 30 years later, the film that disappointed at the box office only to become a genuine contender for “best remake ever” status still satisfies. In a creepy, unsettling fashion of course. Scream Factory’s new Blu-Ray Collector’s Edition brings together a massive amount of new and legacy special features, ...

Should a priest tell his congregation what they want to hear instead of the truth? That's just one of the issues raised in this witty and thought-provoking film version of Bill C. Davis' Tony-nominated Broadway hit. Jack Lemmon is Father Tim Farley, a complacent priest in a wealthy suburban parish who drives a Mercedes and cracks jokes from the pulpit. Along comes idealistic Mark Dolson (Zeljko Ivanek), a radical seminarian who accuses Farley of "song and dance theology." The result is a head-on clash that teaches each man the true meaning of faith. Outstanding performances from Lemmon, Ivanek and Charles Durning as an inflexible monsignor make this a humorous and compelling duel of conscience and compromise.

Watch in High Quality! In PANAVISION, as it was meant to be seen! Here's the scene filmed in Winchester, KY on Sept. 8, 9, and 10, 1966. Featuring Slim Pickens as Jarvis Bates, and Winchester locals as extras. The end of the scene leading into this was filmed on the Valley View ferry, at the end of Tates Creek Road in Lexington. The ferry runs across the Kentucky River between Fayette and Madison counties and, AFAIK, it's still in operation. You can go ride the ferry just like Mordecai and Curley did! Be prepared for a bit of a surprise, however... it's considerably smaller than it looks on screen. An ultra-rare bit of TRIVIA (being mentioned here for the first time!): Another scene was filmed in Winchester at the Brown-Proctor hotel, but was cut from the final version of the...
