In a 2006 SNF game, Al Michaels has a few funny moments behind the mic. The first part is a brief rant after halftime about the use of pyrotechnics in enclosed (or semi-enclosed, in Texas Stadium's case) stadiums and arenas. I'm not sure whether he said something about it during halftime, though. In the second part (at about 1:00, he and John Madden are confused as to how the officials know the exact spot of the ball after a dead-ball penalty. This is explained after the 3:00 mark.

On February 22, 1980, the United States Olympic hockey team pulled off one of the greatest upsets in sports history, defeating the Soviet Union, 4-3.
Back in 2005, ESPN replayed this game and the gold medal game against Finland as part of the 25th anniversary of these Olympics. Everyone has their own story to tell about where they were or what they were doing during this game. I encourage all of you to tell your story or stories below. Now, because I was born in 1994, I don't have a story to tell, but I will tell you my father's story. He had the flu and wasn't really feeling well, so he didn't watch the game. In fact, he even asked his roommate to turn the volume down on the TV.

Alan Richard "Al" Michaels (born November 12, 1944) is an American television sportscaster. Now employed by NBC Sports after nearly three decades (1977–2006) with ABC Sports, he is perhaps best known for his many years of calling play-by-play of National Football League games, including nearly two decades with Monday Night Football. He is also known for famous calls in other sports, including the Miracle on Ice at the 1980 Winter Olympics and the earthquake-interrupted Game 3 of the 1989 World Series.
Michaels was born to a Jewish family in Brooklyn, New York, to Jay Michaels and Lila Roginsky/Ross. He grew up as a Brooklyn Dodgers fan. Coincidentally, at the time the Dodgers left Brooklyn, Michaels' family also moved to Los Angeles in 1958. Michaels attended Alexander Hamilton High School in L.A., with Joel Siegel, Michele Lee and Michelle Phillips, and was a baseball player. He graduated in 1962 and later attended Arizona State University, where he majored in radio and television and minored in journalism. He worked as a sports writer for ASU's independent student newspaper, The State Press. He also was a member of Sigma Nu Fraternity.

Howard Allan Stern (born January 12, 1954) is an American radio personality, television host, author, actor and photographer best known for his radio show which was nationally syndicated from 1986 to 2005. He gained wide recognition in the 1990s where he was labeled a "shock jock" for his outspoken and sometimes controversial style. Stern has been exclusive to Sirius XM Radio, a subscription-based satellite radio service, since 2006. The son of a former recording and radio engineer, Stern wished to pursue a career in radio at the age of five. While at Boston University he worked at the campus station WTBU before a brief stint at WNTN in Newton, Massachusetts.
He developed his on-air personality when he landed positions at WRNW in Briarcliff Manor, WCCC in Hartford and WWWW in Detroit. In 1981, he was paired with his current newscaster and co-host Robin Quivers at WWDC in Washington, D.C. Stern then moved to WNBC in New York City in 1982 to host afternoons until his firing in 1985. He re-emerged on WXRK that year, and became one of the most popular radio personalities during his 20-year tenure at the station. Stern's show is the most-fined radio program, after the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) issued fines to station licensees for allegedly indecent material that totaled $2.5 million. Stern has won Billboard's Nationally Syndicated Air Personality of the Year award eight times, and is one of the highest-paid figures in radio.

The first part is a brief rant after halftime about the use of pyrotechnics in enclosed (or semi-enclosed, in Texas Stadium's case) stadiums and arenas. I'm not sure whether he said something about it during halftime, though. In the second part (at about 1:00, he and John Madden are confused as to how the officials know the exact spot of the ball after a dead-ball penalty. This is explained after the 3:00 mark. The first part is a brief rant after halftime about the use of pyrotechnics in enclosed (or semi-enclosed, in Texas Stadium's case) stadiums and arenas. I'm not sure whether he said something about it during halftime, though. In the second part (at about 1:00, he and John Madden are confused as to how the officials know the exact spot of the ball after a dead-ball penalty. This is explained after the 3:00 mark.
