Richard Carpenter may refer to:
Carpentry is a skilled trade in which the primary work performed is the cutting, shaping and installation of building materials during the construction of buildings, ships, timber bridges, concrete formwork, etc. Carpenters traditionally worked with natural wood and did the rougher work such as framing, but today many other materials are also used and sometimes the finer trades of cabinetmaking and furniture building are considered carpentry. Carpentry in the United States is almost always done by men. With 98.5% of carpenters being male, it was the fourth most male-dominated occupation in the country in 1999, and there were about 1.5 million positions in 2006. Carpenters are usually the first tradesmen on a job and the last to leave. Carpenters normally framed post-and-beam buildings until the end of the 19th century; now this old fashioned carpentry is called timber framing. Carpenters learn this trade by being employed through an apprenticeship training—normally 4 years—and qualify by successfully completing that country's department of labour competency test in places such as the UK, USA and South Africa. It is also common that the skill can be learnt by gaining work experience other than a formal training program, which may be the case in many places.
The Germanic first or given name Richard derives from German, French, and English "ric" (ruler, leader, king) and "hard" (strong, brave), and it therefore means "powerful leader". Nicknames include "Dick", "Dickie", "Rich", "Richie", "Rick", "Ricky", "Rickey", and others.
"Richard" is a common name in many Germanic languages, including English, German, Norwegian, Danish, Swedish, Icelandic, and Dutch. It can also be used as a French, Hungarian, Finnish, and Estonian name.
Karen Anne Carpenter (March 2, 1950 – February 4, 1983) was an American singer and drummer. She and her brother, Richard Carpenter, formed the 1970s duo Carpenters. Although her skills as a drummer earned admiration from drumming luminaries and peers, she is best known for her vocal performances. She had a contralto vocal range.
Carpenter suffered from anorexia nervosa, an eating disorder that was little known at the time. She died at age 32 from heart failure caused by complications related to her illness. Carpenter's death led to increased visibility and awareness of eating disorders.
Karen Anne Carpenter was born in New Haven, Connecticut, the daughter of Agnes Reuwer (née Tatum) (March 5, 1915 – November 10, 1996) and Harold Bertram Carpenter (November 8, 1908 – October 15, 1988). When she was young, she enjoyed playing baseball with other children on the street. On the TV program This Is Your Life, she stated that she liked pitching and later, in the early 1970s, she would become the pitcher on the Carpenters' official softball team. Her brother Richard developed an interest in music at an early age, becoming a piano prodigy. The family moved in June 1963 to the Los Angeles suburb of Downey.

"We've Only Just Begun" by The Carpenters Performed by Gari Geiselman with Richard Carpenter
Richard Carpenter composed this song in memory of his sister Karen. It was used in the movie "The Karen Carpenter Story". Although Richard felt that giving approval for the movie was a big mistake on his part, the fact remains that this tune is simply moving......sorry, no moving pics this time....it's the music....not the visuals....
i can be distant like an echo in a canyon
i get resistant and i need your understanding
i don't know what happens i get removed
i don't mean to fade out but when i do
remind me to tell you all the ways that i need you
remind me to tell you if somehow i forget to
how much i've come to rely
on the strength that i find in your eyes
if you feel me starting to slide
remind me to tell you
i can be vacant like a schoolyard in the winter
i get complacent my attention starts to splinter
then from out of nowhere as i'm watching you sleep
i have so much to tell you i guess it'll keep
we built the mosaic one piece at a time
midnight is lavender morning is lime
major attention to minor detail
you take it too lightly it's certain to fail
my fundamentals are sadly in need
instead of advancing i tend to recede
i'll try to change
but if i should start acting the same
