Nicole Monique Wray (born May 2, 1981), also known as simply Nicole, is an American R&B and hip hop singer. Her 1998 debut single "Make It Hot" was certified gold.
Wray was born in Salinas, California on May 2, 1981, and raised in Portsmouth, Virginia. After being introduced to Missy Elliott, Wray was featured on Missy's platinum certified debut Supa Dupa Fly. When Elliott started her own label, The Goldmind, the then 17-year-old Wray was the first artist signed.
In 1998, her debut album Make It Hot was released. Heavily criticized for Elliott's heavy-handed involvement (she produced, wrote, and performed on much of the album) the first single, "Make It Hot", peaked at number five on the Billboard Hot 100 chart and was certified gold. Her second single, "I Can't See", reached number 36 on the Rhythmic Top 40 chart.Make It Hot peaked at number nineteen on the Top R&B/Hip-Hop Albums chart (number 42 on The Billboard 200) and dropped off by the end of the year. The third single, "Eyes Better Not Wander", peaked at number 71 on the Billboard Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart. Later that year, Wray would sing the hook to "All n My Grill" on Missy Elliott's platinum certified second album, Da Real World.

Blakroc (stylized as BlakRoc) is a studio album by American blues rock band The Black Keys, in collaboration with Damon Dash, co-founder and former co-owner of Roc-A-Fella Records, who oversaw the project. The album features guest appearances from several hip hop and R&B acts, namely Mos Def, Nicole Wray, Pharoahe Monch, Ludacris, Billy Danze of M.O.P., Q-Tip of A Tribe Called Quest, Jim Jones and NOE of ByrdGang, as well as Raekwon, RZA and the late Ol' Dirty Bastard of Wu-Tang Clan.
After Damon Dash began listening to Ohio-based rock duo The Black Keys, which he says quickly became his favorite band, he reached out to the musicians to meet in person. Dash suggested they enter the studio with his friend and associate, New York City-based rapper Jim Jones, with whom Dash had recently partnered to form Splash Records. While recording with co-producer and engineer Joel Hamilton at Studio G, Brooklyn-bred rapper Mos Def, interrupted the session and ended up recording with them as well. With new artists being called in to work on the album, it was completed after eleven weeks of recording. Included in the project are vocals from deceased rapper and former Roc-A-Fella Records artist Ol' Dirty Bastard, tapes which were signed over to his brief Roc4Life venture under Def Jam, with the intention of an eventual album release. In order to release Blakroc, Dash founded an independent record label in conjunction with the band.
Billy may refer to:
M.O.P., short for Mash Out Posse, is an American hip hop duo. The duo, composed of rappers Billy Danze and Lil' Fame, are known for their aggressive lyrical delivery style. Although they maintain a strong underground following, they are mainly known for the song "Ante Up," released on 2000's Warriorz, and with which they have had mainstream success. The group has frequently collaborated with DJ Premier. Fame sometimes produces under the moniker Fizzy Womack, and has produced a significant number of tracks on all M.O.P. releases since 1996's Firing Squad, as well as work for other artists including Big Noyd, Kool G Rap, Teflon and Wu-Tang Clan.
Lil' Fame (Jamal Grinnage) and Billy Danze (Eric Murray) grew up together in the neighborhood of Brownsville, Brooklyn and formed a gang called Mash Out Posse. With a desire to express themselves through rap, they formed a hip-hop group named after their gang. Originally, Fame was the DJ of the group. With encouragement from his older brother, Fame began to write his own rhymes.

Nicole Wray as Lady at Horseshoe Tavern (November 14 2013)
When Nicole Wray announced she had joined Lady the Band earlier last year, many did not know what to expect. After all, the music was an old school soulful sound that was much different than the solo music we'd heard from her. However, the move has really worked out for Nicole and given her career a boost, and most importantly put her in a better position to once again release her solo material. YouKnowIGotSoul sat down with Nicole Wray prior to a recent Lady the Band performance in NYC and discussed how she originally joined the group, what her plans are for solo music in the future, memories of working with Static and Aaliyah, and much more.

Hear the entire interview and session: http://wny.cc/10Rpq2J Singers Nicole Wray and Terri Walker started their musical careers literally thousands of miles apart -- one, in Virginia, the other, in London. Wray began as an up-and-coming R&B; protégé to rapper Missy Elliott; Walker studied opera and received a Mercury Prize nomination for her debut solo album. However, after their two separate careers stalled, the two eventually met in New York and teamed up to form Lady -- a dually-led band with a classic soul sound that recently released a debut self-titled album. The two join us on Soundcheck for a live performance -- and improptu dance party. This is Michael Mixerr. Today I'll be doing an album review on Nicole Wray's Make It Hot album. For those who don't know who Nicole Wray is, she was the first artist to sign to Missy Elliott's Goldmind Inc. in 1998 other than Missy herself with Timbaland's production team Timbaland and Magoo. Also of course with Gina Thompson. She and Missy were from Portsmouth, Virginia. Nicole had a blazing hot song called Make It Hot which hit #7 on the BillBoard! The next song that hit the BillBoard was I Can't See. The third song Eyes Better Not Wander did not do as well because it was a slow jam with no fast paced beats by Timbaland. That song was produced by Smokey of Playa. Most of Make It Hot was filled with love ballads and love songs. She focused more on the single Make It Hot rather than t...
http://youknowigotsoul.com/?p=26156 Exploding onto the scene at the age of 17, it seemed like Nicole Wray was poised for greatness. She had an amazing voice, a hit single in "Make It Hot", a solid debut album, and a crew that included Missy Elliott, Timbaland, Ginuwine, Aaliyah and Static, all of whom had great success in the late 90′s. Unfortunately the situation did not work out after a while, so we never got to hear her second album "Elektric Blue". She eventually moved over to Roc-A-Fella which at the time was one of the biggest labels. Sadly, due to events beyond her control, Nicole's music plans crumbled before she could really get started. However, even with all the stumbles along the way, Nicole never gave up and since then, she has been able to make a major impact in a lot of di...
