Josie and the Pussycats (initially published as She's Josie and Josie) is a teen-humor comic book about a fictional rock band, created by Dan DeCarlo and published by Archie Comics. It was published from 1963 until 1982; since then, a number of one-shot issues have appeared without regularity. It was adapted into a Saturday morning cartoon by Hanna-Barbera Productions in 1970 and a live-action motion picture by Universal Studios and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer in 2001. Two albums were recorded under the name Josie and the Pussycats: one as the soundtrack for the cartoon series, the other as the soundtrack for the movie. The band will be appearing in the Drama series Riverdale.
Cartoonist Dan DeCarlo, who had spent most of the 1950s drawing teen and career-girl humor comics such as Millie the Model for Atlas Comics, that decade's forerunner of Marvel Comics, began freelancing as well for Archie Comics. In 1960, he and Atlas editor-in-chief Stan Lee co-created the short-lived syndicated comic strip Willie Lumpkin, about a suburban mail carrier, for the Chicago, Illinois-based Publishers Syndicate. Casting about for more comic-strip work, DeCarlo created the characters of Josie and her friends at about the same time. The artist's wife, Josie DeCarlo, Josie's namesake, said in an interview quoted in a DeCarlo obituary, "We went on a Caribbean cruise, and I had a [cat] costume for the cruise, and that's the way it started."
Valerie K. Brown (born 10/30/1945 in Kansas City, Missouri) is an American Democratic politician in California. She currently serves on the Sonoma County Board of Supervisors and has done so since 2001. Prior to her service on the board, Brown served in the California State Assembly from 1992 until she reached the maximum length of time for which she could hold the office- known as "termed-out"- in 1998.
Brown was first elected to the State Assembly in 1992, after Bev Hansen declined to run for re-election as the 1990 "re-districting" had made the district significantly more Democratic. Brown defeated the Republican former Sonoma County Supervisor Janet Nicholas in that election.
She was expected to run for the California State Senate in 1998 as she was termed out from the Assembly and Senator Mike Thompson, who was running for congress, was termed out as well. However, Brown passed over that opportunity, leaving the nomination to California Integrated Waste Management Board member and former Humboldt County Supervisor Wesley Chesbro.

Plot: Jake Truman is just a regular guy. However, at his Grandfathers funeral he is mysteriously handed an envelope. Inside the envelope is a map of an island with the word 'Monkeyshine' written across it. Jake has serious thoughts about finding the island, but is soon made to look a fool when his colleagues at the office get wind of his exploration and brand him as a plastic pirate. After a little detective work, he finds out that 'Monkeyshine' means 'Practical Joke' and assumes that the whole thing is a cruel jibe. That is, until the girl at his office sees the map from a different angle and notices that it doesn't say 'Monkeyshine' at all, but is the name of a place somewhere altogether different, which leads Jake to find out where the map really leads. Jake must look into his soul and follow his heart to find out who he really is, and what he really wants, before he can go to the place his grandfather wanted him to go, and ultimately become the very thing his family have carried on for generations - he must become a modern day pirate in a modern day world.
