It was the Eve of Christmas Eve, December 23rd 2014. A rather blustery, but mild (for the time of year) morning at London Heathrow, filmed arrivals between approx. 09:00 - 10:40 and departures from about 11:10 - 12:30 roughly.
A fair few new liveries and aircraft around since my last visit! Like Vir

Well its fair to say this trip to Heathrow didn't go quite to plan. On our way to Hatton Cross the Piccadilly tube line was suspended due to trespassers on the line in the Hatton Cross area! So we were forced to take the bus which didn't get us there until 2pm so we only had an hour or so before the runways swap. So this is what

1080p HD!
One of the most intense moments I've ever experienced in aviation. Arriving at London Heathrow Airport (RWY27L) during #StormImogen Over 60mph winds battering southern England clearly took its toll on my flight. This was Swiss Air Airbus A321 (HB-IOK) flight LX332 from Zurich, was scheduled to arrive at 13:00 but due to ATC restrictions in the extreme weather was delayed by just short of 2 hours. If I said I wasn't hoping for the flight to make an aborted landing I'd be lying because it is exciting. However I wasn't quite expecting to be thrown violently left & right just above the runway, before slamming down, bouncing and then climbing away again. Got a bit more than I bargained for, was absolutely terrifying for everyone onboard. The captain did announce that the Missed Approach was due to a "sudden gust of wind". Must take my hat off to them both in the flight deck for displaying some incredible skill and their fantastic quick reactions at getting the plane back off the ground & into safety immediately.
We did then circle for a few minutes and re-entered the approach and landed safely the second time around without further incident.
I wasn't even booked onto this flight. Was due to fly to London City but that flight was cancelled because of the storm and I was rebooked onto this one.
Check out the full flight video coming soon including more footage from this flight, including the successful landing & take off from Zurich!

1080p HD!
A typically grey Autumn afternoon at London Heathrow Airport. Easterly operations meaning RWY09L being used for arrivals and a cold wind bringing the Scandinavian chill across to the UK!
Some very nice surprises this day, without even realising it, this day was the first day Finnair operated their brand new A350 into Heathrow so when I found out that was due at around 17:45 I figured I'd wait and see it!
In the mean time though a great variety of other heavies, lots of variants of A380's and a unexpected arrival from the Royal Brunei Government Airbus A340!
AIRCRAFT FEATURED:
Airbus A330: Virgin Atlantic, EgyptAir, Gulf Air, Royal Jordanian
Airbus A340: Virgin Atlantic, Turkish, Iberia, Royal Brunei
Airbus A350: Finnair
Airbus A380: Etihad, Emirates, Qatar, British Airways, Qantas, Malaysian, Singapore
Boeing: 747: British Airways
Boeing 757: Air Astana
Boeing 767: British Airways
Boeing 777: American Airlines, United, British Airways, EL AL, TAM Brasil, Cathay Pacific, Japan Airlines, Air China, Jet Airways, PIA, ANA, Kuwait Airways, Saudia, Korean Air
Boeing 787 Dreamliner: Virgin Atlantic, AeroMexico, LOT Polish, British Airways, Air India, China Southern
Lots to see & lots of great liveries to look out for!
Beautiful lighting from the sunset towards the end, look out for that too.
Thanks for watching!

I was spotting at LHR today about to leave when I saw on twitter that BA295 had made a U-turn over the Atlantic and was heading back to Heathrow! We headed over to Hatton Cross to get a shot of the landing however at the last minute it appeared to be coming in on the northerly runway (27R/09L). We rushed up towards 27R but sadly didn't make it in time to get properly setup. That and the fact the lighting was poor meant I got a very poor shot of it landing. Nonetheless it was clear what the problem was, the main port and starboard wheels hadn't actually come down so the Boeing 747 Jumbo was forced to make an emergency landing on 3 sets of wheels as oppose to the normal 5. Nonetheless, the crew did a remarkable job and landed safely on runway 27R. We then drove parallel to the runway to get a better shot of BA295 on the runway (since it was unable to vacate). As you can see emergency vehicles were quick to surround the aircraft. Meanwhile Heathrow Airport was forced to operate on the only other runway which inevitably led to delays. We paid a quick visit to Terminal 5 to get another perspective of the incident. Thankfully nobody was harmed in this potentially dangerous scenario due to the incredible skills of the entire crew.

1080p HD!
Like Virgin Atlantic's beautiful new 787-9 Dreamliner G-VNEW seen arriving from Boston. Also since the merge with US Airways some new American livery A330's which look great! So look out for those scattered throughout the video! I've also included some flight details of some of the ones I knew.
INCLUDES: British Airways A380's, 747's, 777's, 787's & 767's, Virgin Atlantic 747's, 787, A340-600's, A340-300 & A330's, American Airlines 777's & A330's, Malaysian A380, Cathay Pacific 777, Saudi Arabian 777, Turkish A330, United 777's & 767's, Air Canada 767's, Thai 747, Delta 767's and more! But basically lots of heavies :P
Thanks for watching!
Merry Christmas & Happy New Year to everyone. Got plenty planned for 2015 that you won't want to miss!

*On a side note worth remembering on this exact day & at the time of filming the first Airbus A350 left Toulouse to be delivered to Doha for operations with Qatar Airways. The first A350 in operation!

So this is what we caught in that short hour of Heathrow departures between 2 - 3pm.
INCLUDES: British Airways 747's & 777's, Emirates A380, Virgin 747, American Airlines 777's, United 777, Aeroflot A330, Delta 767-400, Air Canada 777 and a Vietnam 787-9 seen departing the opposite runway after the 3pm runway swap.
Some incredible sounds particularly the 747's & 777's!
Thanks for watching

Britain's Busiest Airport Heathrow Arrivals
Documentary series going behind the scenes of the airport, finding out how its infrastructure helps staff process thousands of passengers arriving from 84 different countries around the globe. The first edition takes a look at how air safety officers work in tandem with air traffic control to keep the runways free of debris, and there's a glimpse at life in the animal reception centre, where a wide variety of animals are welcomed - ranging from pet ferrets to a tiger. Plus, cameras follow the story of a family whose young relatives are lost in arrivals.

SWAN ON RUNWAY! Delays 20+ aircraft at Heathrow Airport!
This is too funny. One of the best looking schemes to dress a Boeing 777 ever!
It seems Air India regretted taking these 777-200LR's from day 1, the problem was that the 777 had too much capacity for the demand that turned out, the airline management then claimed, in an attempt to justify quickly offloading the aircra

How to get from Heathrow airport to London without pulling your hair out Tutorial. Located 20 miles (32km) to the west of London, Heathrow (LHR) is one of the world's busiest international airports. Sometimes it can really suck getting from the airport to where you want to be depending on traffic and the time of day.
How do you travel from the airport to London? This short Documentary (almost in English) explains the various types of transport available and the prices. The TUBE, Taxi and Heathrow Express are all explored. Terminal 1 2 3 4 5 are all the same. Piccadilly Line London Underground.
Oyster card pre-pay. Rush Hour in London sucks. UK
You will need to pay a £5 deposit when you get a new Oyster card. You can get the £5 refunded if you return the Oyster card when you leave London. Then you have to pay for the "daily price" or weekly and monthly price, if you are visiting longer, at Heathrow Station.

London Heathrow Airport's innovative new Ultra POD transport system connects Terminal 5 with the airport's extensive Business Car Park areas. The British-developed system is one of the first examples of new personal rapid transit technology that could benefit many parts of the world in the future.
Each pod is designed to carry up to four people and their luggage (including pushchairs and bulky items) in temperature-controlled comfort. The pods do not require a ticket and are free to use. They operate on an 'on demand' basis, so there is no waiting around for timetabled services, and no stops along the way. Just jump in and go!
The futuristically-styled pods are driverless and self-steering, and run automatically along designated tracks (called 'glideways'). They are electrically powered and travel on rubber wheels, giving a smooth quiet ride. A central computer monitors demand and ensures that pods are available at the right places at the right time. The Heathrow glideways are approximately 2.4 miles (3.8 km) long, and the journey time from Terminal 5 to the Business Car Park areas is about five minutes.
This POD transport system is an example of 'green transport' in action - it is energy efficient and low emission, and replaces an estimated 50,000 bus journeys per year. In addition is has considerably shortened journey times between Terminal 5 and Heathrow's Business Car Parks.

London Heathrow Airport or Heathrow(IATA: LHR, ICAO: EGLL) is a major international airport serving London, England. Located in the London Borough of Hillingdon, in West London, Heathrow is the busiest airport in the United Kingdom and the third busiest airport in the world (as of 2012) in terms of total passenger traffic, handling more international passengers than any other airport around the globe. It is also the busiest airport in Europe by passenger traffic and the third busiest by traffic movements, with a figure surpassed only by Paris-Charles de Gaulle Airport and Frankfurt Airport. Heathrow is London's main airport, having replaced RAF Northolt and the earlier and better-known Croydon Airport, and together with Gatwick, Southend, Stansted, Luton and London City, London is the busiest city airport system in the world by passenger traffic (with 133,666,888 passengers travelling through the six airports); and second only to New York City in terms of traffic movements. The airport sustains 76,600 jobs directly and around 116,000 indirectly in the immediate area, and this, together with the large number of global corporations with offices close to the airport, makes Heathrow a modern aerotropolis which contributes an estimated 2.7% to London's total GVA.

Heathrow is only months away from opening their latest airport terminal but have they learned from past mistakes? The last terminal opening was riddled with errors but airport bosses say they won't let it happen again.
London Heathrow Terminal 2 is a new airport terminal under construction in London Heathrow Airport, the main airport serving London, United Kingdom. The new development was originally named Heathrow East Terminal, and will occupy the sites where the previous Terminal 2 and the Queen's Building stood. It is designed by Luis Vidal + Architects (LVA), and it is due to open on 4 June 2014. Terminal 1 is due to close soon after, and will be demolished in 2016 to make way for the next phase of the Terminal 2 development.
The new terminal development was approved by the then-Mayor of London Ken Livingstone and Hillingdon Council in May 2007.[6] The terminal is designed by Luis Vidal + Architects (LVA). Construction is being undertaken by a joint venture of Ferrovial and Laing O'Rourke.[7]
Once opened it will become home to Star Alliance, as part of Heathrow Airport Limited's plan to maximise the efficiency of the airport by reducing transfer times and improving the passenger experience.[8] The new terminal will have capacity for 30 million passengers each year.[9]
The new terminal's design continues the "toast rack" principle employed in the construction of Terminal 5, a layout that maximises use of the airport's land by placing the terminal building and its satellites perpendicular to the runways.[10] Like Terminal 5, much of the building will be constructed off-site, helping to overcome many of the logistical constraints of building in one of the world's busiest international airports.
Construction of the terminal is spread across two phases. The first phase, started in 2009 and due to be completed in June 2014, has involved the demolition of the old terminal and construction of half of the main terminal building, and the completion of the 522-metre (1,713 ft) satellite building Terminal 2B. The second phase is due to begin in 2016 with the demolition of Terminal 1 and the construction of the second half of Terminal 2 in its place. It had originally been expected that the second phase would be completed around 2019, but in February 2013 Heathrow Airport Ltd. confirmed the project would not be expected to be complete until the next decade. [11] Once complete the terminal will have a footprint and operational capacity very similar to that of Terminal 5.
It has been designed to resemble a stunt aircraft in flight, and has been described as the longest permanent sculpture in Europe.[13]
As of January 2013, Terminal 2A was declared weather tight and the internal fit out of the building was well under way. In Spring 2013 systems installation commenced. Terminal 2B has been under construction since 2008 and has also officially been declared weathertight. The first phase of the building was completed in November 2009 and its six gates have been operational since early 2010. Passengers currently access it via a temporary bridge from Terminal 1. The second phase has been under construction since October 2010. When completed, this will provide ten additional aircraft stands. It will be connected to the main terminal building by an underground link
Heathrow Airport Terminal 2 is open for general public, after many years of hard work of Engineers at T2 they are expecting huge rise on the passengers. As it was the biggest challenge to create this terminal, but it is done well right on time. This airport will be the first to offer common check-in kiosks, it means you can use any check-in desk

This is too funny. A juvenile swan decides to take a nap on Runway 27L at London Heathrow Airport, delaying 20+ aircraft from A320s to several wide-bodies such as the worlds largest commercial airliner, the Airbus A380. Thousands of passengers sit still on the tarmac whilst our feathered friend makes himself at home.
Our impeccably polite British hosts seek to dislodge their imperturbable guest from her comfortable perch at Runway 27L which sees over almost minutely departures during a typical rush hour. In other words that's approximately 30-45 departures per hour. They chase it, almost hit it with the car and try everything else in their power to make the goose move, but he's going nowhere.
London Heathrow, Europe's busiest airport (operating at a staggering 99,8% capacity and ~ 1300 movements per day), cannot afford even the slightest delay or malfunction in its hectic, heavily trafficked schedule.
I must say that it was handled well and I greatly respect Heathrow's respect to their passengers' absolute safety and well-being. Situations like these cannot be prevented, but it is pretty funny witnessing a couple airport workers trying to chase a little duck off one of the world's busiest, most pressured runways.

This flight documentary/Plane Spotting, Arrivals, Landing and Departures footage is a MUST WATCH!
One of the best looking schemes to dress a Boeing 777 ever!
It seems Air India regretted taking these 777-200LR's from day 1, the problem was that the 777 had too much capacity for the demand that turned out, the airline management then claimed, in an attempt to justify quickly offloading the aircraft, that they were fuel guzzlers and therefore too costly to operate.
Eventually Air India found a buyer for these planes, the Arab rich Etihad Airways.
Air India would have been better off leasing some 767-300's until the arrival of the 787's, but then we would never have seen the beautiful sights you are going to see in this video! - So sit back, relax and enjoy some of the best Air India 777-200LR footage ever filmed.
